News Discussion: Could Online Modes Be On The Way for Sonic X Shadow Generations?
A bit of a surprise move, considering how little the original online modes really mattered in the base Generations, yet thanks to the PlayStation Store, it seems we've got more information on this feature, and how remasters, such as the recent Red Dead Redemption remaster will often leave them out.

Stadium Blog: It's the Sonic X Shadow Stadium!
SO! A brand new Sonic game was announced last night, in what was perhaps the worst kept secret in the world all last week. But it wasn't just a new game, but a remaster - a enhanced version of arguably the best Sonic game made in the last 20 years. Sonic Generations, on modern gaming hardware! I'm excited! It's exciting!

DISCUSSION: Sonic X Shadow Generations Announced! - Join the discussion on this brand new remaster of Sonic Generations!
It's been the rumour that's striked the community for the last week - following a leak of a State of Play slate, promising a remaster of one of the most beloved Sonic games ever made, what may seem to be a baseless rumour suddenly became a whole lot more credible as the State of Play was confirmed on the leaked date, and then following that, the rumour seemed to pick up more and more truth over the week - with a potential URL leaking the name of the game and a sale launching on Steam that coincidentally lacked Sonic Generations .

Well, all of the anticipation has finally paid off! Announced tonight at Sony's State of Play, a Sonic Generations remaster is now incoming, featuring brand new content with fan-favourite - Shadow, likely to tie into the third Sonic movie that's due out later on this year!

Featuring a brand new story with everyone's favourite edgy hedgehog, Shadow is going to go through brand new levels, and face up against iconic threats like Biolizard and Doom's Eye! Check the trailer out here!

Surprisingly, this seems to be the most in-depth porting job to come from the series thus far, compared to Colours' Metal Sonic races, and Origins' interconnecting story mode cutscenes. With Shadow bringing a whole new slew of content and story material, covering a game that was woefully forgotten in the original, this is going to be a huge game-changer! Let's hope this is the remaster job that such a acclaimed title in the series deserves! But enough patter from me - discuss what you think below!

Sonic & Friends hits YouTube with first compilation episode!
Among the the many, many... MANY new Sonic projects launching last year was Sonic & Friends, a short-form CG series based on the series' chibi style that SEGA made available on their Japanese TikTok account. This morning, SEGA's official Japanese Sonic YouTube has compiled the four episodes into a single portrait-oriented short.

The brief cartoon follows Sonic, Tails, and Amy (yet no Knuckles despite the thumbnail) as their beach-side picnic is disrupted by Dr. Eggman's mischief. The whole thing is profoundly low-stakes and certainly aimed at the youngest of audiences, but if you want to see some cute art and a decent Palmtree Panic remix, you no longer need TikTok to check it out. Whether there will be other episodes... who's to say? For now, they've still got plenty of 10-second dance videos.

New Sonic Board and Card Games Unveiled
Spotted by Badnik Mechanic on Twitter from what appears to be a merchandising catalog image from UK brand Top Trumps, we have a look at new tabletop games featuring the blue blur himself, Sonic the Hedgehog!

The most prolific game on this list is a revamped version of Monopoly!

The Sonic brand is no stranger to Monopoly, having three iterations.

The original, aka the "Collector's Edition", which features elements from throughout the mainline games using traditional Monopoly rules.

A Gamer variant, which adds boss battles, powerups and multiple Sonic themed currencies to the traditional Monopoly formula.

There is even a version of traditional Monopoly using elements from Sonic Boom!

This 2024 version shown in the catalog appears to be yet another themed version of original Monopoly, the question just lies if it is a reissue of the Collector's Edition in new packaging? Or is this an all new board featuring new characters, cards and spaces based on more recent or even obscure Sonic titles? Only time will tell...

But after we pass GO! and collect 200 dollars, there are three more games with Sonic's face slapped on it!

The second being Match: The Crazy Cube Game.

Sort of like an advanced version of Tic-Tac-Toe, the aim of Match is to line up 5 cubes of the same image horizontally, vertically and diagonally by moving cubes around and pushing them off their occupying spaces... Now with extra hedgehogs!

Third is Whot!

Similar to Crazy Eights, or Uno, Whot! involves players stacking corresponding cards onto one another until one card remains, but with a post-game scoring system based on the number displayed on the cards.

Lastly on the catalog, is the company's namesake, the British cult card game itself Top Trumps!

This is even more of a mystery than the Monopoly reveal. Top Trumps already had a Sonic version as late as 2022, which is rather recent. The one currently featured on the catalog even continues to use the same box art of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles inside a ring. The cards look identical too. Is this a new release? or is it just a reminder to the consumer that a Sonic version of Top Trumps is now available?

Regardless of the case, it looks like there will be no shortage of Sonic content for your next family game night! That is, if you're tired of dragging your grandma to your dusty old Wii to play Secret Rings minigames...

WARNING: Monster Hunter Rise Sonic Collab Leaves in a Few Hours!
You may have read the news story back in November, but the day (or night) has finally come - the Monster Hunter Rise collaboration that brought a host of Sonic cosmetics and themed quests will be leaving tonight at midnight. That's just about an hour and 30 minutes for the UK, and about roughly 6 hours for the US, give or take.

This is your final chance to get the quests, but luckily - once you download them, they'll remain on your game until you delete it from your system. The entire Sonic collab consists of two quests - Gotta Hoard Fast, and Super Shady Look-Alike quests, each of which will give you various gear, cosmetics, and displayable figurines.

Luckily, for anyone who's yet to grab the quests, it's incredibly easy to do so and even for a completely fresh save - can be done in about 10-15 minutes, as long as you don't waste too much time on your character creation.

All you have to do is create your character, and your companions, then do a short series of tutorial quests around the village that introduces you to various tools of the trade. Upon registering as a hunter in the hunter's lodge, you'll return to the quest maiden outside, and you'll be called over by Senri the Mailman.

He'll tell you that the rampage has put restrictions down on the hunters gathering, and then once that's over, talking to the mailman again will bring you to various menus, in which you can scroll down to 'Add-On Content', and it'll download all currently available quests.

WARNING: This is not enough in order to gain the quests however. Ensure you hit the "Accept All Quests" button, which will download all currently available quests and accept them. This will ensure you gain the quests.

Then, to simply test out if this worked, run back to the Hunter's Lodge, and run to the Quest Maiden. Speak to her, and a new menu option will not be available (Event Quests). You can then go in and check if the quests are there. Gotta Hoard Fast is a 2-star mission, while Super Shady Look-Alike is a seven star mission.

As long as the missions are now present at the quest maiden, you are officially set and don't need to worry about the missions. Just ensure you don't delete the game off your console, or else the missions will go with it!

There's no official time given for when the collab DLC is gone, so don't sleep on it, get it done ASAP!

RUMOR: Possible Second Adult Collector’s LEGO Sonic set incoming
Known LEGO leaker 1414Falcon on Instagram has posted intel on a previously unreported LEGO Sonic set releasing in October! But this time, with a twist... This is an 18+ set!

No details yet on what this set might represent, but with a piece count of 720 pieces, it is going to be comparable in size to the Green Hill Zone Loop Challenge set from last year.

This isn't the first 18+ set with Sonic however, and that's where things get REALLY interesting...

The first set in this age range is the one that started it all, the LEGO Ideas Green Hill Zone!

For those who have built Green Hill Zone, you might have noticed something at the very end of the build...

These Technic connection pieces, one going in, and one going out. For years, we didn't know for sure what its purpose is...

Most we could do is connect it to LEGO Modular Buildings, like the Jazz Club, Daily Bugle or Ninjago City. But now, with a new 18+ on the way, is it made to be connected to Green Hill Zone to make a much larger diorama? Maybe!

What do you think this new Zone might be? Will it be chronological and go to Marble Zone, or will we skip to another iconic level like Chemical Plant?

...Or maybe Windy Hill Zone, just to taunt us. Let us speculate together until the day we can build this ourselves!

With Regard to the Purported Sonic 3 Storyboard Leaks
Yes, we know they are out and about. Yes, if you'd like to discuss them (and spoiler tags are mandatory for doing so), that's fine until you hear otherwise from Dread or another site administrator. No, do not directly link to or post any of the materials here until we hear from Dread regarding the sensitivity of that information. Yes, the information is out there and there's no putting it back in the bottle, but Paramount is going to try and I'm sure Dread doesn't want to deal with nonstop DMCAs for the next few days.
