A pyrokinetic princess from the Sol dimension, as well as the sworn guardian of the Sol emeralds. In her debut, she is initially a rival to Sonic, sparring with him before later teaming up together to stop Dr. Eggman, and his Sol counterpart, Eggman Nega. Blaze is stoic and sworn to duty, but still free-spirited and in control of her own life, often leaving her kingdom and dimension to help Sonic and friends.
Overview
Blaze is a pyrokinetic, anthropomorphic cat, with purple fur and dress, and a red gem on her forehead. She is the princess of the Sol dimension, set to inherit the throne, residing in the Imperial Palace. Blaze is the sworn protector to the Sol emeralds, the power of which allow her to become Burning Blaze, a bright and powerful form capable of flight and enhancing her pyrokinesis.
Personality
Blaze, like her guardian counterpart Knuckles in Sonic's dimension, is often stoic and cold, especially to strangers (such as Sonic, at first). However, she has a warm heart, being surprised and touched by Cream's kindness after meeting for the first time, and shown too in her later connections with Sonic and friends. During conflict, she is quick to lose her temper - especially against Eggman Nega due to the history between the two of them - wielding her pyrokinetic abilities as a force to be reckoned with.
Relationships
- Blaze, despite initially sparring with him, comes around to see Sonic as a friend and teammate, surprised by his abilities and role as the primary force against his dimension's Eggman. While shenis sworn to duty in her own dimension, she still makes time frequently to visit with Sonic or assist in stopping world-threatening foes.
- Cream is immediately kind to Blaze, taking her in to visit her home and meet Vanilla. Cream and Blaze remain friends to this day, with Blaze often visiting her when she has time outside of her dimension.
- Eggman Nega is the primary antagonist to Blaze and her world, being described by her as more wicked and fearsome than Sonic's counterpart. She is quick to lose her composure and temper around him, hurt by the havoc and despair he brings to her people.
- Silver and Blaze are paired together as a time-travelling duo in Sonic '06, travelling back to Sonic's time to attempt to stop Iblis, temporarily retconning Blaze's story from previous games. This is no longer canon, but Silver and Blaze are still seen as good friends, connecting over their nature as interlopers and the beauty of the world.
- In the IDW comics, she is seen with her royal assistant Gardon, who brings her daily reports and assists with her seemingly large wealth of duties. Despite the supposed presence of Eggman Nega, the two observe her kingdom as typically peaceful.
