Honestly, established names like Metal Sonic, Metal Knuckles, Tails Doll should've been separate characters. I like the idea of picking Metal Sonic's head and torso and giving him an engine skirt, but whole characters should've been their own characters I guess. You know... Looking at Superstars' Green Hill Zone... I... actually kinda dig it???? Would it be too much to ask for a Sonic remake like that? -

I'm sure this is the only reason. Commitment to some degree of "Metal parity" between all of the characters. I just think it's a shame to see him pushed aside at the first real chance at a come back since 1997, in favour of a much more vanilla Metal Tails. They brought back Metal Knuckles, but not Tails Doll. -
Yeah, as much crap as I give him, I hope he genuinely finds himself in a better place after this.
