  • Sonic Channel Calendar December 2023: Super Sonic Takes On... Super Eggman!?

'Sonic Fantasy Scenario' series comes to an end.

The final 'Isekai Ohgiri' Sonic Fantasy Artwork piece has been revealed for December 2023, and it features Super Sonic taking on a Super Eggman in a colossal stand-off!

    2023-super-eggman.jpeg

This is the first time we've ever seen such a transformation for Sonic's long-time nemesis - from the looks of things, the nefarious dictator is using the power of the Phantom Ruby to finally be his own Super self.

Sonic Channel's 2023 Calendar Artwork series has been incredibly interesting, putting select characters from the series into unusual scenarios - and we've seen everything from Shadow and Infinite singing to Cream investigating Big's dodgy dealings and even Blaze and Silver doing a Downton Abbey.

Each month, Sonic Channel has revealed a small section of meta-story to go alongside the scenarios - a bigger plot that runs through all of the month's events. And it looks like this December artwork is the culmination of all of that. The final piece of that puzzle will be delivered at a later date on Sonic Channel's website, so keep an eye out for it.

In the meantime, you can visit the above link to download a PDF of the Dec 2023 Calendar Artwork for yourself.

    OH. MY. GOD. HE'S CANON. HE'S CANON!!!(probably?) IT'S EGGCELENT! THIS COUNTS FOR A CELEBRATION!:celebrate:

P.S: Have you noticed? This year, some of the memes and little jokes that go on in our community have been portrayed by SEGA/Sonic team and people who have the license to Sonic the hedgehog?

I think my favorite has to be at the beginning of Imposter Syndrome where Dr. Starline describes (his version of) the Sonic Cycle.

They canonized the term "Sonic Cycle" and I could not be happier.

I also like how they essentially made a canon Eggette in Sage. I refuse to believe she was not inspired by Eggette.

    Finally, it's happened.

An official Super Eggman from Sonic Team themselves. Even if it's not in a game proper, this is still ridiculously cool.

If this means we get official Super Rouge and Super Cream forms to fight Super Eggman, I'm all for it.

Wouldn't a Ruby super form look more dark and corrupted? I feel it could be in it's illusionist nature that it would only look golden cause that'd be Eggman thinks (or, in Dream Team's context, dreams) he'd look like. But come midway through the fight that facade is chipped away to reveal that the real deal is something more frightening.

    For example-

    Eggman_Hates_Furries_-_End_-_8.png

I could also see him using the Ruby to make a decoy projection of him in Super form to sic on Sonic, in similar vein to Mega Man 2's endboss where Wily is revealed to be an alien, but he’s not cause it's only a hologram.

But enough about seeing things that aren't there (ha), as a straightforward golden design, it's as cool as they come. You don't need to show off your bare egg abs to look so utterly powerful.

THATS EVEN BETTER! But who knows what's going on in the minds of SEGA.

Huh... y'know, I think I can see why Sonic Team shelved the Phantom Ruby. This is pretty crazy. Hope we get to see this in-game one day! 🙏

I don't care how you do it SEGA, we need this fight playable Frontiers style. Heck it could finally offer some closure on that blasted lore hole that is the Phantom Ruby!

I'm glad they didn't go with that whole buff thing fans tend to do (I assume most are making a joke.)  But I dislike the buff Super Eggman thing. Would have clashed with the general super style, anyway.

    Thus, eggselent.

    Spoiler

    supereggmaningamewhen?

That's "Chaos" Eggman, not "Super" Eggman. Like how green Knuckles from Archie was "Chaos" Knuckles while "Super" Knuckles was pink.
