I think Blaze will be the 3DS Rival. I'm fairly certain SEGA might've given it away, if by mistake, just recently.

Either it's the wrong choice of words, or they just said he was "another of" without saying he's "the last one". "Another of" puts him with Classic Metal Sonic and Shadow, but they didn't say that it was all.

In other words, that sense of finality in the message is missing, no conclusion whatsoever: it's an open message. So Silver might not be the last Rival we'll see in Generations.

That is, if it wasn't the wrong choice of words.

Again. I doubt it. Rivals are probably story wise important and thats why they keep them. Like Iizuka said. Second thing is lack of slots on game website. I doubt Blaze will replace Silver in 3DS ver.

Second thing is that Silver Battle is tricky. Why its set in Crisis City? Is Silver after Iblis Trigger or some other threat?

Answers for this can be important to plot. And fact that Silver is one of last moments of the game makes it REALLY POSSIBLE!

So yeah. As much as I would love for 3DS ver. To have other Rivals it wont happen. They are the same.

Well, the story is revolved mainly around Sonic and Tails. The 3DS version apparently states that Tails was inviting Sonic to the party and then, BOOM! He gets sucked back in time, apparently kidnapped 'til the end.

When Iizuka said "those important to the story", he probably meant the whole party: in the consoles, so far not to be seen on the 3DS, and with the implied plot, not likely at all. And Blaze's history is more akin to Rush than anything, being represented in the handhelds. Silver was in '06, and since there's assumedly no '06 stage to be found on the 3DS, it might lower his chances in getting in there. Then again, if Metal Sonic in Casino Night is anything to go by, there's a chance.

On official game website there are 7 slots. There are just one set of slots. They are for Sonics, Tails, Eggman, Time Eater and 3 Rivals. There is no spot for Blaze. And if they would plan to have different Rivals they would change Metal to Knuckles.

And like you said we fight Metal in CN there so Silver can ge somewhere else too.

I'm not going to think any less of the 3DS version if Silver gets in instead, just so you know, I'm getting it either way. I just like to point out the possibilities. On that note, there's still a possibility that the character slots aren't the same. We know about the two Sonics, the two Tails, Eggman, Metal Sonic, Shadow and Time Eater. There's still a chance that last character slot isn't shared between the Xbox360/PS3 website and the 3DS one. And with the 3DS being released later, we might not know for a little while until they update the site with Silver to see if he ends up on both websites or not. Plus, there are some people who might've never touched an Xbox360, PS3 or PSP whereas on the DS games - save spinoffs - Silver wasn't a rival character in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, I don't favour Blaze over Silver. I like them both equally.

So, when the Japanese Sonic Generations website updates with Silver, we'll know whether or not by then.

If Silver makes it in, then whatever, that's not gonna change me. It'll be interesting to see how and where it'll play out though.

We don't know how difficult it will be. Just because the death egg was easy doesn't mean the rest of the bosses will be just as easy. Maybe not super hard but giving a better challenge than that is my guess.
