And (referring to the cannons) that Iizuka has upgraded from copying DKC to copying Wario Land. I suppose that's an improvement, but it's not hard to beat Carnival Night Zone.

and now apparently reusing cannons from Sonic 3 is considered copying Wario Land?

I love you all, but some people just find something to hate about everything when it comes to this game.

'course not, they've got a decade and a half of rust to work off first, and this from a series that's been struggling to put out something merely decent for most of that time. It shouldn't surprise anyone that they aren't instantly hitting perfect 10's...what's important is that they're taking the first steps, and trying to make a solid entry in the series. If they can do that, they can start worrying about making the Greatest Game Ever Made with Sonic 5.

I've heard this concept from a few people, that they need to experiment with the formula or that they can't just set out to make a great game or something like that, and to be quite frank, I don't buy it. From the developer's point of view, there is nothing that sets a game in a chronically ailing series apart from a game that is to be the first in a series.

So apparently SEGA seems to think that when fans said they wanted a return to classic Sonic, that they meant they wanted cut and pasted remakes!

My money was spot on for Casino Street zone, just a HD Casino Night zone. Really, if they wanted to just remake the classics in HD why didn't they just do that? This game rips straight from Sonic 1 & 2 (with the exception of the dreaded HA) that it isn't funny, right down to the boss as well.

Oh and to those who don't think the homing attack is overpowered, look how easy Sonic took down the CSZ boss, he was finished almost before he even got to his "changed attack strategy" - not that this change seems to be anything significant, after seeing SHZ and this boss it seems that Robotnik spazzing out and spinning himself around in the same motion for both boss fights is considered "strategy".

This game disappoints, perhaps if it had been a cheap DLC HD remake of the classics WITHOUT the homing attack, then it would be mildly enjoyable, but to say this is a whole new game, let alone claiming it to be Sonic 4, is like claiming Sonic Genesis for GBA is a whole new game.

Being a mod there myself, and knowing the other three mods, the "bollocks" you speak of are definitely present. However, the admins that actually handle banning feel that they are not responsible for cleaning up Sega's messes, and as such, take no such action.

While I think the leaks are a bit much, I wouldn't blame Retro. If not Retro, it would of been posted somewhere else. Pointing fingers won't solve anything, and in the situation it's either "Acknowledge the leaks and discuss them", or "Censor our leaks and turn a blind eye to them", or "Censor links and make the users find them on the several sites their posted at elsewhere".

I don't blame Retro for not removing the leaks, honestly it wouldn't solve anything. The Casino Street footage was posted somewhere else before it was posted on Retro.

As much as I'd love to call Tweaker over and have him rip you a new one (and he most definitely would), I'll pass. This time

However, there's no real reason to remove leak links. Once it's on the internet, it's out, and there's nothing that can be done about it (Especially with Tristan actively hounding the thread). Ban the leaker, and he just goes somewhere else to leak. Again, covering up Sega's tracks simply isn't our responsibility. FUTHERMORE, they haven't asked, so why bother. (and they are in regular contact with the admins FYI)

Hope the Final Stage doesn't get leaked. Anyway I'm pretty much convinced this will be in my top 5 Sonic games. Yeah it's quite early and the footage is new still but I'm in love with everything in this game. This is exactly what I wanted from this game.

Anyway I can't help but think SHZ's background just *pales* in comparison to the other stages. It's nice, but compared to the freaking city with hot air balloons of CNZ, or the artful ruins of LLZ, or the mad Sonic CD-esque backgrounds of MGZ, it's just nowhere near as good.

But yeah. Love this game.

And here I am 3 months before release and already I want to say "roll on Epiosde 2!".

Just watched first act of Mad Gear.

Just watched first act of Mad Gear. It's got elements of Scrap Brain Zone and Metropolis Zone. One thing I've noticed that will piss everyone off is giant bottomless pit where you've got to homing attack what look to be both blue and red Bubble and guess what is standing at the very tip of the platform? A damn Slicer or whatever you call those things from Metropolis Zone.

Finally I get it spoiler tagged, that damn spoiler tool wouldn't work at all so I had to do it manually XD

I watched the first act of Mad Gear and gosh I need to stop watching these leaks. Anyway, Mad Gear seems to be the best zone in the first episode. It's fast and it's awesome. Better destroy my router now and cut all the cables in my house so I can't watch the leaks anymore.

About Mad gear and other things.

Unlike that Casino level which sucks IMO, i sooo love all 3 Mad gear acts with the boss (which i think is the best in the game so far). And Super Sonic is awesome too, especially his transformation animation.

So the game doesn't come out for another 3 months, and it's been completely leaked?

Good thing I'm not too crazed about Sonic 4 so I can resist for that long. I mean, it looks pretty darn fun and all, but nothing I urgently have to see now. If it was, waiting 3 months while the game is just a click away would be torture.
