Even if he performed the level perfectly I still think it would be an awful idea for an ENTIRE LEVEL. A section of a level would have been fine but for the whole level it's really stupid and not fun looking IMO. I can tell that's one level I'll never replay after completing it.

Heh, for me it's quite the opposite, it's the level I liked the most of the leaked ones, and that's part of why I cringed so much at the bad playing.

Tbh..

I don't blame him for playing so badly on act 2 of Lost Labyrinth Zone, it does look pretty hard if you playing it for the first time on that act, i'll admit that I may have trouble on that act myself when i'll get to that bit and play it for the first time, you may just need to adjust to how to move the cart(or the stage it self) the way I wanna go and maybe that how the special stages will work like too but without a mine cart (obvs).

Consider Rayman's flying/water skiing stages, Aladdin's flying carpet stages (Genesis/Mega Drive) and even Sonic's own Sonic 3 snowboarding level. All can look like rubbish when played badly, yet they can also look awesome when played well.

ANYTHING is better than White Acropolis snowboarding. ANYTHING.

Wasn'T the snowboarding just a cutscene(Or whatever you wanna call it) in Sonic 3?

You could jump during that section.

Didn't really do anything though. You were better off just not touching the controller.

I always just watched Sonic get the rings and thought "cooooool" laugh.gif .

Rush Adventure also had snowboarding. It was okay, but not as cool as Adventure's.

Why must you bring back the fowl pain of Satan's air glider? WHY?!?!!? D:

Yeah, the jump in Sonic 3's snowboarding was kind of useless. You could only really make use of it at the 1 spot about half way down the hill to avoid going down those cool slopes but why would you not want to see Sonic pull off some cool snowboarding maneuvers?

I have a strong feeling that we'll see snowboarding in Sonic 4 Episode 2 or 3.

I hope so, but I'll be happy with atleast an Ice level without snowboarding and a lava level, but I'm sure they'll be in anyways.

Ah, I forgot about the Master System. And I haven't used VC in a year or two when I bought Mario RPG and Sin and Punishment..

I recommend you kids get a Power Base Converter or a Master System and give the originals a try. Nothing beats a cart game :D

As this is a rumor thread, I thought I'd dig up Sonic Retro's Zone cliches list and see what we have so far and speculate on what we might get (Orange = confirmed):

Ancient Ruins cliché - Lost Labyrinth Zone

Carnival/Casino cliché - Casino Street Zone

City cliché - possible but unlikely, this cliche came about post Sonic 3 & Knuckles

Death Egg cliché - possible E.G.G. Station setting?

Desert cliché - highly possible in Episode 2 or 3

Flying Fortress cliché - highly possible in Episode 2 or 3

Lava/Volcano cliché - highly possible in Episode 2 or 3

Outer space cliché - possible E.G.G. Station setting? E.G.G. Station = Space Station?

Sky Chase cliche - highly possible in Episode 2 or 3, especially if Tails is reintroduced

Snow cliché - highly possible in Episode 2 or 3

Techno City/Large Factory cliché - Mad Gear Zone, another is highly possible in Episode 2 or 3

Tropical Island cliché - Splash Hill Zone, another is highly possible in Episode 2 or 3

Underground Cavern cliché - Lost Labyrinth Zone

Underwater cliché - Lost Labyrinth Zone, another is highly possible in Episode 2 or 3

Wild Wild West cliché - why is this even considered?? in any case, probably not gonna happen

Only watched bits a pieces of Splash Hill. Not gonna look at the rest unless Sega reveals it officially in a trailer (if they even bother at this point).

I liked what I saw, but I definitely know I'll be ignoring the Homing Attack's existance during boss fights.

Sadly I'm too cheap to find one. Maybe if I go to a flea market I would >>

With those 4 gone, makes you wonder what we'll get for the next episode. Yeah, we're getting another tech city one, but maybe a snow one? that or a fire level. It's one or the other. >:c

Yeah, I feel bad for SEGA's marketing team as they must be creating trailers, screenshots and stuff ready for when a part of the game is to be officially revealed and then leaks keep happening. If I was them at the office I'd head desk and yell "WHY DO WE EVEN BOTHER?!!!!" Not to mention the money that ends up wasted on funding that marketing stuff.

Well let's see, Sonic 1 had:

Tropical Island - Ancient Ruins/Lava - Carnival/Casino (well, thats as close to a cliche as Spring Yard Zone gets) - Underwater/Underground - Outer Space - Large Factory

Sonic 2 had:

Tropical Island - Large Factory - Ancient Ruins/Underwater - Casino - Tropical Island - Underground - Techno City/Large Factory - Large Factory - Sky - Sky Fortress - Outer Space

[note that while Sonic 2 had THREE Large Factories, they were all very different spins on the cliche]

Sonic 3 had:

Tropical Island - Underground/Underwater - Ruins - Carnival - Snow - Techno City/Large Factory

Sonic & Knuckles had:

Tropical Island - Large Factory - Desert - Underground - Sky Fortress/Ruins - Outer Space

Maybe I was right to hold off criticism yesterday. I'm insanely happy with Lost Labyrinth Zone. I had a feeling it was gonna be my favorite level! I watched the footage grinning like an idiot. Even the ridiculous looking mine cart game looks fun. Homing Attack: I thought it was pretty bad at first, but they've put so many springs in the game that it might as well be in there. My only real complaint is that it locks onto everything, even rocks. They were pretty clever with it though, those new vines swing enough to need the homing, and those Orbinauts in LL look like total homing trap potential. Homing chains are not my favorite but whatever.

Lost Labyrinth boss looks like a lot of fun. I'm gonna talk about gimmicks in the video, so whoever doesn't wanna be spoiled...

Did the boss remind anyone of the Sonic 1 final crusher boss? Eggman just waiting there in the corner is a little reminiscent of him in the crusher cylinders. Also the giant boulders look deadly! They can really fly for such a big rock. I'm real happy to see the return of the infinite slide in a Labyrinth Zone homage.

It seems like they gave each zone a gimmick and pace and it's measured pretty well. Lots of variety equals good game to me, and lots of memorable moments.

Lost Labyrinth Act 2 makes me motion sick...kinda sucks, its music is one of my favorites in the game.

I think I'm going to try avoiding major leaks from now on. I've already seen almost half of Episode 1 at this point...

Overall I'd say, it's not the classic ideal, nor is it my ideal, but it looks pretty damn fun.

I'd probably call the Wild West cliche more of an "American Southwest Cliche" or "Grand Canyon Cliche"

Rail Canyon comes to mind.

Rail Canyon and Bullet Station are canyons, but completely devoid of theme beyond that. I'll agree wish Aquaslash and say that Frontier Canyon is the only American desert/canyon stage we have (unless you want to count Dust Hill).

You know, I'm kinda pissed off with these leaks. A video of the first level is normal, as are a few screenshots of some others. But for the entire soundtrack and videos of half of the game to come out is pretty awful for SEGA. I've got a copy of al the leaked content on my PC and think it's all great, but it's such a shame that this has happened.

To be fair to Sonic 4, the player could have simply tiled back, tilted forward and jumped. Piece of cake. However, it seems they thought they could jump at a sharp forward angle, which is just silly.
