Just because I didn't like certain episodes doesn't mean I'm trashing or hating on the show.

Okay.

Never said you are, and my point about my original post not being directed at you still applies, but okay. *shrug*

I think the episode was enjoyable, not too funny, but entertaining, I love it when they poke fun at mass media and stuff.

Sonic: What? Why isn't anyone here for the match?!

Well, of course Sonic, BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T INVITE YOUR ONLY FRIEND WITHOUT TECHNOLOGY, AGAIN.

The ending did feel rushed and I felt bad that Sonic was ostracized. Plus like @SpongicX, said it was pretty much using already used social media jokes. Maybe they could have showed one of the villages using Scramblr without getting sucked in to teach how to control yourself using social media. Plus I don't know how to feel about Sonic's friends in this episode; on the one hand they didn't mean to ignore him but it still seemed sad to see him be treated like that.

I was expecting, where's the TV Rip to the latest Sonic Boom episode "Chain Letter?"

I'm thinking the same thing too. I never miss a single episode.

The title/synopsis of season 2's finale have been revealed.

  Hide contents

(http://www.telemagazyn.pl/serial/sonic-boom-1418819/s2/odc51/) Translated from French.

Title: EGGMAN: THE VIDEOGAME.

  1. Part 1 - When Eggman tries to recruit Shadow to spice up his video game evil, the consequences for Sonic and his friends are serious.
  2. Part 2 - Sonic and his friends must battle their worst enemies to save the universe from destruction.

Yes, it's a two-parter.

That's pretty obvious. They did multi-parters in Season Finales with Power Rangers so many times. I've gathered a list of these seasons:

Season 3B, Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers, Hogday Afternoon (2-Parter)

Season 5, Power Rangers Turbo, Chase into Space (2-Parter)

Season 6, Power Rangers in Space, Countdown to Destruction (2-Parter)

Season 7, Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, Journey's End (3-Parter)

Season 8, Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, The Fate of Lightspeed (2-Parter)

Season 9, Power Rangers Time Force, The End of Time (3-Parter)

Season 10, Power Rangers Wild Force, The End of the Power Rangers (2-Parter)

Season 11, Power Rangers Ninja Storm, Storm Before the Calm (2-Parter)

Season 12, Power Rangers Dino Thunder, Thunder Struck (2-Parter)

Season 13, Power Rangers S.P.D., Endings (2-Parter)

Season 14, Power Rangers Mystic Force, Mystic Fate (2-Parter)

Season 17, Power Rangers RPM, Danger and Destiny (2-Parter)

Makes sense, right?

I'm gonna be honest, I don't think I'm a fan of Peter Saisselin's writing. All the episodes he wrote so far (Do not Disturb, The bowling episode, Chain Letter) are at best decent to me. I don't want to be mean but those episodes just didn't really stick with me that well. I'm also not a fan of Sam Freiberger's recent episodes as well which is why I was glad when I found out he wasn't writing any more episodes for this season.

Chain Letter was...ok I guess. I'll be honest I can't really remember a whole lot of it. There were bit's I laughed at and I did like that Eggman just up and delete's the whole Scrablr (I assume it's written like Tumblr) app after getting Sonic to join. That's the kind of ridiculous pettiness I love from this version of Eggman.

Did any feel the writers tried too hard to be hip?

Not really, they were basically making fun of current trends. Maybe they were trying to be hipsters, but I wouldn't call making fun of popular trends  hip for say. In a way, the episode was making fun of it's target audience, almost like the infamous Mighty Number 9 Trailer. Many viewers of Sonic Boom use social media, we're using social media, just by posting comments on this website.

Sega has been staying alive, thanks to their sudden focus on social media, if it weren't for dedicated fans sharing news about Sonic Boom, the show might not  have lasted as long as it has, how many shows get kicked off to another channel to rot, yet last up to 52 additional episodes at least?  Not to mention how social media helped Sega listen to the classic fans and fan game creators, which allowed them to hire a team to make Sonic Mania. There are plenty of fans who also love the humorous references posted on the official social media pages for Sonic, like Twitter, and Facebook.

I wasn't offended though, I agree that some things about social media can be embarassing or annoying at times. My problem with the episode however, was that it didn't do anything new or different with it's jabs about the internet. It almost felt like watching a amateur stand up comedian tell nothing but jokes you already heard a million times from other comedians. The writing felt a bit too cynical about mocking online trends though, instead of having fun with it.

We've seen and heard people complain and get annoyed about apps or trends being obsolete, cat videos, people posting pics about their food or babies non stop, tagging people who aren't in a photo, random celebrations like "talk like a pirate day", trying to relate to teenagers, etc.

While it's arguable that the jokes in The Biggest Fan weren't too original, they were still quite surprising and unexpected to see in an official Sonic cartoon. It was kind of funny to see Mark joke about Sonic's arms, to see Sonic be forced to play out fan fictions, to hear Sonic say "SonAmy", and for Amy to point out how Sonic uses too much sports tape. We've seen plenty of jokes about that stuff before, from the fans, but it was so funny to see Sega acknowledge that stuff, and hear the Sonic characters menton it.

The Biggest Fan had more going for it than just references to the Sonic Fandom, there was the literal turning point where it turned into Stephen King's Misery, The irony of Sonic's pals trying to save him, only to get trapped as well, the funny fight in casts, and the gang realizing they were never injured, and just had too many castings on them. There are a number of reasons why I liked that episode, and I've heard plenty of other fans say the same or similar things about that episode

Chain Letter was just not that memorable for me at least, but if others liked it, that's fine.

So I read something (I think on YouTube) about Dave and the Rabbit Girl possibly working as a couple mainly because of their buck teeth. I would wonder what character development would be required for that to happen. It's actually got me interested now.

It wouldn't work out. Dave already stated how he's a loner, and doesn't want a romantic relationship with anyone. Not to mention how irresponsible and uncaring Dave is about everything. Plus, he wants to be evil.

The Rabbit girl is a snarky and easily annoyed teenager, but I don't think she would be interested in dating an evil loser like Dave. I personally don't see why they should date, just because they have buck teeth. Does that mean she and Fastidious, or Justin Beaver would make a great pairing, for having buck teeth? It's almost like saying Tails should only date someone who has two tails as well, or Knuckles should only date people with big arm muscles.

Sorry, I'm just not a fan of shipping in general. I do support Sonic and Amy though, but at least there have been plenty of hints about the two having feelings for each other. They will likely  not ever be shown getting together, but it's still kind of cute to see how close they can get, yet are still too shy and embarrassed to make it official. They argue like a married couple, share similar mannerisms, have been caught spending quality alone time together, and act nervous when someone questions if they're together or not.

Tails and Zooey are a cute couple I'll admit, and they're the only characters in the show who appear to be dating. Not even Sonic and Amy are open to admitting they have feelings for each other, yet Tails is willing to write and send love letters for Zooey in front of his friends.

Other than that, I don't see the point in shipping characters, what's the point in trying to fool oneself into thinking there's love between 2 random characters with no evidence to support it? I still find it strange how some people ship Sonic with Sticks, just because he escorted her to the gala in My Fair Sticksy.

Yeah you have some of good points there.

Matching up characters is just a fun thing to do. I don't take it seriously.

To be honest I'm fan of Knicks (KnucklesXSticks) and Knerci (KnucklesXPerci).

I could see Knuckles and Sticks working. Both have a great love and respect for nature, something they share in common. Hard to believe there haven't really been any episodes that focused on those two.

Yeah I've noticed there aren't really any episodes focusing on other groups of Team Sonic (Amy and tails, Sonic and Amy, etc) aside from them as a whole, the guys together, the girls together, Sonic and Tails or sonic and knuckles.

I personally wished the show mixed things up more. Instead of getting too many episodes that focus on Eggman, Eggman w/ Sonic, Tails w/ Sonic, Sonic and the guys, etc. It would have been nice to get a few more episodes that focus more on other pairings, like Tails and Knuckles, Sticks and Knuckles, Amy and Tails, Sticks and Eggman.

Too many episodes are focused on Eggman. I don't hate Eggman, but I personally find the ones about him alone to be some of the show's weakest episodes.

It's probably because he's considered a fan-favorite character. Yeah, this is especially the case for the more recent episodes; it seems like they don't try to change things up like with FriendBot, Mech suits me, or Give Bees a Chance.

They sometimes take like about a few hours to appear on the Sharing Boom Google Document on Saturday. But as of now, it's been 2 days.

Watching it for free online is not legal at all. If it's not on Boomerang or On Demand, then it's not earning any accountable views or revenue for the people who brought the show to  air.

I understand the frustrations of this, some people have tv, but don't have Boomerang, or any way to watch new episodes, some feel like they have no choice but to illegally watch the show, but continuing to watch the show through non legal sources only hurts the show more. Nothing can be done about it. They expect us to watch it on a channel that's too complicated to get without Sling TV, yet keep frowning upon those who look for it online.

I don't encourage people to look up episodes online, but what choice do people have? CN got rid of the show, despite plenty of people having paid to watch it on CN, and never treated it with respect. Many fans beg for blu ray, dvd, digital, or netflix releases of the show, yet they do nothing about it... Sega has no faith in the Boom brand.

What's weird is that the entirety of season 1 is on DVD in the UK. It came out fairly soon after the season aired here too.

In my country, downloading shows and movies is illegal, and shouldn't be done. But streaming them online is a-okay. Sooo... Hooray Australia...?

Sonic Boom only plays on one channel in this country (and not even on the Cartoon Network channels!), and it's constant season 1 reruns. Fuck that, watch all the new season 2 episodes online. It's oddly legal, and these channels aren't gonna get my views by not showing what I want, so anything goes.

Sonic Boom is dying a slow death, and it sucks, because the sub-franchise had potential that was destroyed thanks to SEGA's meddling with the games.

It makes you wonder what would've happened if they left BRB alone when they were developing ROL.
