Tropical Resort is an interesting zone, but it's designed to be a fun, happy stage that introduces you to a very lighthearted game.

True, but they could quite easily mix things up a bit. I mean, the level does have a certain air of Final Rush about it at times (grinding on rails with the Earth in the background, much?), and at the end of the day it is still part of Eggman's booby-trap-ridden amusement park so it's not exactly all fun and games. Plus in the unlikely event they do throw in some other stuff from say, Terminal Velocity (which I personally would have wanted as a final stage had it not just been a straightforward "run down the elevator!" level), it could be really interesting.

We'll just have to wait and see, frankly. Anticlimactic or not, I'll be looking forward to playing this stage.

Well, yes, admittedly I am clutching at straws, I won't deny that. I guess I'm just trying to find some sort of reason to justify its inclusion because I'm actually pleased that it's in. Is it final stage material? No. Is it going to be a fun stage to play nevertheless? Quite possibly.

Maybe this Tropical Resort will have you going in the opposite direction, hastily trying to get to the Intergalactic Elevator right after the tower of Hyper Go-on Energy that Eggman stored up explodes, causing the entire place to collapse on itself. That could give zone some sense of urgency, and include some Final Rush, Egg Rocket, and Terminal Velocity segments in it.

Mistake. SEGA only recently confirmed a Nov.22nd release in America, and a Nov.25th release over here. It's M&S3 that's out in February on 3DS.

I dunno, do we have any footage of Emerald Coast or Radical Highway yet? Do we know if the Generations recreations are simply the original layouts put onto a 2D plane? I'm willing to accept the c/ped classic stages, since "original stage + fresh coat of paint" was the wet dream of every fan who wants to party every day like it's 1994, but with the stages from Adventure onwards, I'll give them the BotD.

Besides, I would have been thrilled if there was a Tropical Resort act 7 in the original game, made in the same way I described, so I'd like to see it done here. But if not, oh well. I got a jamming remix of my favorite song in the entire series to listen to anyway

Wait, so I'm not the only one who doesn't like the way it looks? It looks blocky as all hell and probably suffers from "Highway in the Sky Syndrome", taking the other stages into account. Definitely a downgrade from Colors.

It's not the person who sent the scans in's fault. GoNintendo always covers up the text parts of any Nintendo Power and ONM scans they post up due to copyright reasons. I sent them scans of ONM's exclusive Resident Evil Revelations preview a couple of months back and they covered the text parts of that too and just posted up the new info in bullet points.

Mind you i don't watch Gonintendo so i didn't know they do this kind of crap. has the user posted the scan anywhere else? and theres anymore to it or just 1 page?

Burst and Laser for the Tropical Resort Wisps, eh? Would've preferred Drill over Burst but I am okay with this, it represents both the Wii and DS versions nicely.

Giving Tropical Resort the burst Wisp is the most acknowledgement the handheld games have gotten, which is kinda saddening since I grew up on Advance 3, Rush, and Rush Adventure, but hopefully they'll be acknowledged somehow through the extras, though I'm not sure how that would work. I've heard that Nintendo is planning on adding demos to the eShop and hopefully Generations will be put up on it quickly.

Heroes is represented by the special stage, Sonic 06 will be unlikely as we've had no representation for a handheld game (Unless you count Tropical Resort)

But who said theres gonna be a handheld (advance 1-3, rush, rush adv) stage?, it was never confirmed there would be one, it is said to pay homage to them as in the game is all 2D / 2.5D many thought all stages would be handheld stages and so far pretty much none of them are, Tropical Resort could be seen as console or handheld so it pretty much doesnt count. Not saying I wouldnt want a rush / sonic advance stage, but Im saying I really doubt it.
