Guys, it's a badly aged game. The reviewers aren't gonna go "this game is real glitchy, but you should spend money on it and not have fun anyway out of respect for the fact that once we knew no better." They have to be honest and say how it stands up in today's market, because that's what this title is. An Xbox Live Arcade title, being released in today's market. If it's not still fun to most people, that's how they're gonna see it.

I miiiiiiiiight download it, eventually. I'll try the demo and see whether it's worth the money to be able to play without starting up my GameCube (alas, my Wii has got funny with GCN discs as of late). Though frankly I have my priority on some other titles that I don't already own, and if I'm honest, I'm only barely happy with paying 800 points for it.

The saddest thing is it's very possible they'll base the decision to port Sonic Adventure 2 on how well this one sells - and that's a port I reeeeeeally want.

Been to check my bank and I'm a little low on money until Tuesday. Oh well, I can wait a week. Now I'm left to decide which version to get

I'm curious as to what you people were expecting. A mediocre, deconted port of an already-mediocre port of a game that aged terribly in the first place was never going to set anything on fire in regards to reception. I agree the IGN review was poorly written, but it was an IGN review.

I'd actually call this a successful port compared the the GC version. Frame rate is solid and after watching Aptiva's streaming play of it, I forgot i was watching a port for a good while.

For anyone wondering, 2-D sections are in Sonic's Skydeck, remember? Seems like one or two people have forgotten.

EDIT: Or, at least, the camera scrolls from the side as a cannon shoots at you.

The new Chao Name Machine.

At several moments in this, I forgot I was playing a port. I find that it's a great port, and I don't regret buying it in the slightest. =) Sucked that my keyboard crapped out on me on the stream though, haha. Thanks to everyone whom watched, and showed interest! I'm gonna either go to sleep, or play a bit more of the game off-stream so I don't have to worry about messing up on camera. ;P For future reference, streamed the entirety of Sonic's and Gamma's stories.

£6.29?

Thats... quite a bargain. And Home rewards too, I like the sound of that. It'll probably just be a shirt, but it's nice to get Home rewards.

For those who have the XBL version, can you actually get rid of that boarder/stretch at all or is it there to stay?

Edit: What does that Chao machine remind me of, I'm sure I've seen it before somewhere.

@Gnasher, No, you can't D=

I can confirm, though, that all the original Japanese audio is still there. There are no Gamegear games or missions, however.

EDIT: Oh, right, and maps/free camera mode is still there. Though it's now controllable with the right stick. Not sure how it worked on GCN, but I know "look around" was the Dpad on the Dreamcast version. The DPad is now for moving around in that "8 direction" control scheme that whoever mentioned.

Oh! And there's leaderboards, too. Fastest times in levels and whatnot.

Game Gear games and missions are likely part of the DLC pack I've just wrote about on the front page.

Isn't that the same Chao machine from the PC version? Would make sense considering this is the PC version.

.... Christ.... ... but even the ultimate megadrive collection could... ... ... christ.... ... And people wonder why this has scored so low?

Oh well... looks like the zoom in button on my TV might finally have a use.

Thing is, people have been playing the PC version in widescreen for year. I think it's two lines of code or something. The engine supports it.

Pfft PS3 owners still have to wait another week. <_< Oh well I was hoping to get some nostalgia goodness today. Well I have my DreamCast hooked up in my room right now I might as well boot that up, nothing beats the original right? In the mean time I'll probably download the trial version on my step father's 360 just to see how much stuff IGN exagerated in their review.

I haven't been keeping track of this, but do both versions have achievements/trophy support?

Yeah all 360/PS3 games require them now.

I've enjoyed it, It ain't a bad port pretty good to be honest and it's not as bad as IGN (which the guy who reviewed it looked to played Sonic Unleashed than SA1 lulz 2D Sections and boosting in my SA1 luwut? XD) & 1up says it to be(To be honest I think IGN & 1up was lacking the taste of beating down Sonic since it's been ages since they done that, looking forward to Free Riders review now that will be a laugh XD). It plays pretty much like the PC version with 360 controller to me, camara can be annoying at times though but it will do but it's a decent port =)

Really enjoying what I've played so far - doesn't seem like a bad port at all, though I don't have much of an eye for such things.

The character models seem pretty tasty to me.

Also, in Casino Night, the vibrate for the pinball tables is badass. I hit a bumper and it felt brutal. Like I was actually playing some hardcore, giant machine that was shaking underneath my sweaty, nerdy grasp.

9/10

That's the thing. As a port it's adequate. As as 2010 release it's not. Normally you'd expect a game as buggy as SA to receive a fix here or there.
