Aaaaand that's all the footage I'm watching, music I'm listening to and locations I'm seeing. I've not been this excited for a Pokémon game ever, so I want this to be as sweet as can be.

Oh jeez, my Black/White hype is growing again. I'm almost completely used to the English names now, too. Bring it on!

The new Wii game had better be a Colosseum/XD-style game. Those two weren't fantastic or anything, but the novelty of playing a Pokemon RPG on a console made up for most of their shortcomings. Damn, Battle Revolution was a letdown. I'll bet anything that the first Pokemon game for the 3DS is a throwaway spinoff like Trozei or Dash, though.

...as a side note, it's interesting that the English version of Best Wishes seems to be ditching the ancient tradition of pun-based titles. I kind of hope they stick with that.

Seeing as Pokemon is entering a new generation, now's the best time to jump in. At least then you'd be completely new to Gen 5 like the rest of us.

And if you want to catch up on the last 2 generations, I highly recommend getting HeartGold/SoulSilver to see how Pokemon's changed since Gen 2.

You may have seen me post a link to Kotaku in the status box last night confirming the video chat feature being local only. Well, Official Nintendo Magazine also says it's local only. The gadget has been added to the game's official website and says it's called the Xtransceiver.

Don't worry guys, the Xtransceiver isn't just offline only.

Form Bulbapedia (also said in different words on Serebii):

The Xtransceiver can be used to communicate with other players nearby using the C-Gear's wireless feature, where up to 4 players can talk to each other using a radio-like system, and if they have a Nintendo DSi or a Nintendo DSi XL and camera function is not disabled, see each other. The Xtransceiver can also be used over the internet by selecting it at the Global Terminal in Pokémon Centers.

Kotaku and ONM aren't saying the Xtransceiver is offline only, just the video chat part of it. From what they're saying you can still voice chat online. The game's website isn't very clear about it, but I guess we'll find out when the game's released.

Checked Serebii since you said they say it's over wi-fi, too, PSI Freeze, and yes they do say that.

ONMs latest issue suggests it's local only (and do comment on that being a bit strange) I think Nintendo just simply feel the network infrastructure isn't available here for DS. Which is likely fair dues, not a lot of places outside basic wi-fi connections support the DS these days, good luck trying to connect your DS on a hotspot at McDonalds or Starbucks!

A shame but then, nothing is stopping people using skype instead (which'll be better quality anyway)

EDIT: Missed the Pokemon anime preview! The new voices for Tepig, Snivy and Oshawott are fine *phew* I was really worried the adorable sounding Mijumaru would translate to a REALLY annoying character sound, needs to be a bit louder though...

I mean, Sarah's good now, but Veronica was Iconic, Pretty much every young male-lead anime character with a scratchy female-ish voice is based off her successful performance. Frikin' pioneer man. :<

I'm just glad the new VA got better, for the longest time it felt like she phoned in most of her performances.

Besides that the Rocket VA's surely could not stay the same for their new roles thus far, I'm still curious as to how the dub will deal with the renewed serious angle, as gags will be REALLY out of place in any scene with them right now. But for now I'll rest easy on the fact that none of the starters have a REALLY annoying Piplup-esque voice that we'll hear thoughout the series

Bah, all of the Pokemon voices in the anime are annoying really. I was considering wating the latest series until the preview reminded me of how ubearable it would be.
