As I mentioned in the previous post, it doesn't look like Encanto did well in box office, but it seems to thrive on Disney+. My guess is that Disney may not be happy with pandemic box office numbers, but satisfied with Disney+ numbers and as the result decided to forgo theatrical release for Turning Red. Besides that Covid cases are rising significantly again, so who knows what our life is going to look like in April. For example, most of my university classes are switching to remote instruction to prevent Omicron spread.

Regardless of the reason, Disney is big player and trend setter in the industry and I'm wondering whether other companies like Paramount will do something similar.

I think we will getting back to normal by Summer 2022/Fall 2022 as the pandemic may ending soon as more people are getting vaccinating,

as the mutating will be harmless like common flu every Winter. Then we'll be all right for movies returning for theaters.

I'm wondering what it could mean for Sonic Movie 2. I wouldn't be surprised if Paramount would've made decision to simultaneously release the movie on streaming services (or with 1-2 months delay). However, I think that since Sonic is very well-established franchise it is in better shape than most animated movies.

Hopefully, nothing much. Paramount+ is (IMO) garbage, even if the content itself is pretty solid. Ya know how everyone whines about HBO Max's UI? Paramount's is even worse, so I really hope they either delay to evade Omicron (as well as Harry Potter) or that Omicron is enough of a non-issue by April for the rollout to continue as planned.

I know somebody in this thread already posted this. I wonder what this could be mean? Could they just be posting this for fun?

So, they'll be doing this fan art thing until the movie's release?

I guess so. I noticed that they now posted the artist's picture instead of quote retweeting the fan art of the previous movie.

This was the first Fan Art Friday that they did. It was posted a few weeks after the trailer was debuted.:

This was the last Fan Art Friday that they posted before the movie was released. I think they stopped doing that until they started doing it again last year.

Last year, they did an Fan Art Friday of Dr. Robotnik aka Dr. Eggman, Sonic, Tom, and Agent Stone.:

Spoiler

I know I talk about this before. What's strange about this post is that they mentioned that they will pick the best fanart of Emerald Hill Zone. Despite that, they never post it. We didn't see Emerald Hill Zone in the trailer. However, its music was played during it. Maybe they will post it when they show the place later before the movie is released on April?

I don't know why they never posted it. I guess we will wait and see.

This might not be related to Sonic per say, but they just recently released the final trailer for Jackass Forever.

From what I've seen, the first official trailer was released over 5 months ago.  So, if the Sonic movie sequel gets a second trailer (or final trailer in this case), when do you think they will show the second trailer?  Or will they even show a second trailer at all?

There will absolutely be another trailer. One trailer would be really bad marketing for getting the most out the movie. Even if some fans wants to avoid spoilers past the initial trailer, for the general public another trailer builds up hype even if reused a lot of footage. I would say a month plus or minus some is likely like they did with Clifford.

But there will also be a lot of tie ins and TV spots I am betting. The movie team mentioned going bigger on marketing. Last time we got tv spots with the Super Bowl and Nickelodeon. I imagine the Nickelodeon spots are going to return for sure.

Also a lot of licensed products like the comics, Mad Libs will be coming in March. Heck the poster book comes out March 1 which is only a month and a half away.

Mike Cisneros who is a licensing specialist for SEGA just spotted this big poster standee.:

Surprised it's just the poster, not the standee like this one that I spotted back in 2019. Yes, I took the picture.:

Somebody had created the full render of Movie Tails that was seen on the  Mad Libs cover that was revealed last month.:

So, this guy think this may be the reason why Commander Walters is working for GUN and why they are at Green Hills.:

The cosplays have been picked. This one seem to be for Robotnik (Eggman).

Ah...I figured that Robotnik would be the popular pick for cosplays!

The scene of Sonic stopping some robbers in Seattle, Washington is likely going to be the opening.:

Anybody think that the opening will have an Deadpool style opening like the previous one? You know it will probably show an scene that will be shown in the near end of the movie and will flashback to how the story started with Sonic narrating for a while.

Just discovered this. It's seem to be Sonic on some kind of glider thing. This must be one of the Sonic Movie toys that was listed on a Danish website a few months ago.:

There is TV spot for Sonic that uses footage from the trailer barring one intereating addition.

I am going to spoiler tag it for those who don't want to know this extra detail as it can lead to more theorizing:

Spoiler

At 18 seconds you see Robotnik stick up his index finger which seems to have a emerald shard or fragment attached which he blows out like a smoking gun. Not sure if it is actually part of him or what.

Here is another one from that NFL game.:

I think I get why they promote this because the football teams that are in this game represent blue and red which is the color of Sonic's and Knuckles's fur. The marketing focused on their rivalry. Pretty much like this Matrix parody poster that was posted last month. This was probably made because of the new Matrix movie.

I am surprised that Nickelodeon is hosting an NFL game. Is this something that Nickelodeon usually does?
