I would post that GIF of Granny from Loony Tunes throwing money in a fireplace, but I can't do that anymore.

I'm not even sure if popcorn suffices anymore. Any of you got nachos?

400 Million for a single sport, for a single region of the world because most anywhere else doesn't dive a damn. I could maybe sort of understand if this was proper football/soccer (Fifa and such), but still for 400 million? No.

This is lining up to be the worst console launch ever. I can't to see what else we learn in the coming months.

Considering the primary market is America, choosing Soccer over Football would be an even worse decision.

There has to be more people who own Xbo\xs outside of America then there is in America. I don't know the figures, but I can't for the life of me imagine there are more Xboxs in the US vs. Everywhere else.

Paying that much money for any sport is a bad decision no matter what though.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if there were more 360s in America than everywhere else combined. The 360 has been outselling everything here ever since Kinect came out, while the PS3 has consistently outsold it in all of the other markets.

Speaking of NFL:

Damn straight. No Fun League.

Holy hell, did I miss a party.

As far as what I can like about the Xbone, I do actually like its design...that's about it tho. Everything else just looks unappealing to me.

EDIT: I thought Crackdown was always MS exclusive?

Yeah, my mistake. Crackdown seemed like it was a multi-platform title for 360 and PS3, but me not playing either one in a while kinda skewed my thoughts badly on that. ^__^;

I guess we'll really just have to wait and see, but they have a huge uphill battle with this. There's going to have to be like the best games ever made to sell it to quite a few, considering all the backasswards restrictions that come with the Xbone.

So, Microsoft could have spent up to 400 million dollars just for that NFL app. That no one outside of the US will give a shit about. Hell, there are plenty in the US who won't care about it either.

Microsoft has to get the money back from this somehow. I'm telling right now, a subscription known as Live Gold will be returning on XONE. Don't be shocked when they announce that on E3.

I was considering getting XBOX LIVE GOLD for a year.

After this, I think I'll just use that to renew PS+ instead.

Now, all along I have been saying I'm holding judgement, that the concept is good just now the way it was sold, etc... etc...

But this console is ever so slowly reaching the bottom of a sand dune trying to climb its way back to the top, except for the fact it keeps slipping up and falling a few inches more.

The design of it has grown on me though. Just give me the half without the massive vent covering half of it.

360 is probably going to try to live on as a budget box to capture some of that Wii money we had this gen, maybe.

I think E3 might have the reveal of the "Stringray" (New 360 model).

Well, at least it will be quite clear at a glance that the new console is different from the old one.  Nintendo's still working on that one half a year after launch.

I'm guessing it'll be the Xbox 360 Mini (Xbox Fusion?) which will act as a disc drive-free 360 with apps and XBLA. Also, it could connect with the Xbox One, allowing the One to play 360 and possibly original Xbox gave via the One's disc drive with the 360 Mini connected:

http://www.vgleaks.com/microsoft-xbox-roadmap-2013/

Given the "all-in-one" and "living room hub" concept that the One is pushing, it would make sense that it would also connect with other Xbox hardware.

Yeah, good luck with that...

Seriously, has the Xbox brand ever done even remotely decent over there?

It had a phase of doing ok in Japan, but they kinda dropped the ball.

If they want it the One to do well in Japan, they're going to have to remove the mandatory online function. The Japanese typically do not game online with consoles, even the majority of digital games are released physically there instead.

Interesting to hear EA plan on supporting the 360 and PS3 for that much longer, I wonder if they'll continue to sell well for that long?

Not really. Quoted from the article I linked:

The original Xbox sold 2 million units in Japan during its cycle, yet the Xbox 360 performed weaker still, shifting about 1.5 million units by 2011.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/408560/xbox-one-microsoft-insists-we-are-committed-to-japan/

Glad to hear they still see Japan as an important market and they're going to try and win them over again.

The Japanese don't like the 360, because there's nothing on it for them. There's a reason they prefer the PS3 and Wii.

Back in the ol' Xbox days, America had a kickass unofficial Xbox magazine entitled Xbox Nation (XBN). A bulk of the staff were from the Official Dreamcast Magazine, which ended a year before XBN.

Anyway, XBN had a terrific article series on Xbox in Japan. I think it was every issue. It was hilariously awesome! Their reporter would report on how Japan treated the Xbox like porn, hiding it in the back and putting it in black bags when sold so people didn't see what was in the bag. Great stuff. Actually made me like the Xbox more, lol

I remember Microsoft did make an effort early on in the Xbox 360's life by scoring some exclusive Japanese RPG games, like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, but that still didn't seem to help. Hopefully they'll get more exclusive games the Japanese audience will be interested in this time around.
