Well, both Blaziken and Infernape are based off of Chinese mythology.

 

Blaziken is based off of Basan. Basan is a chicken who breathes fire and is a ghost or something.

 

Infernape is based off of Sun Wukong. Sun Wukong almost destroyed the entire planet by jumping up and down, he defeated every god and demon in heaven, hell, and the larger universe and stole the power of immortality from the ruler of the gods himself. 

 

but hey chickens are cool too i guess

Chinese mythology. Sun Wukong is the main character of a Chinese epic poem/folk tale. My girlfriend (Taiwanese) said she heard the story growing up. 

 

I'm actually kind of tempted to read it myself, haha. It does sound awesome.

Heh, it doesn't end there. Emboar is also based off a character from Journey To The West, though he might also be based off a soldier from Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Based on what I wanted to see from here over the last several pages, I'm just going to go the route of having a 'rotating' team of sorts. Kinda like what Ash is doing in the anime currently-ish. There's no way this time I can have just one static team of six through my Kalos adventure. For me...I-I just c-can't D:

Sun Wukong is problemly one of the most well known characters in Chinese Myths, definately a major influence across.

 

The Mega Man series had 2 Robot Masters/Mavericks based off him: Buster Rod G and Hanumachine from the Zero games

 

The character Son Son of the Capcom game of the same name, also in MvC2 as a female.

 

One of the Soul Caliber 5 characters is based off him

 

Goku naturally has a lot in common with Wukong,

 

If not Sun Wukong himself, than his signature weopon, his extending Bo staff makes an appearance in games.

Well this is starting to bite.

 

It seems their really is like 70, 80 or so New Pokemon so far, their is entirely TOO MANY older Gen Pokemon in this and their filling up the dex heck of a lot more than the Newer ones.

Kinda sad.

And where the freak is that Dolphin Pokemon Gamefreak, I was hoping to catch one early rather than late game.

 

Oh yeah almost forgot.
