Nice to see the screens look better, and the graphics better looking...even if that two we saw before still look crappy =P. I wonder what does "plentiful of unlockables" mean xD I hope we get some good unlockables, like more characters, vehicles, character skins, art, music, videos or something =P What unlockable goodies do you guys think we will get?

2nd page....

The words

DREAMCAST and MEGADRIVE

were used even tho they have a space between dream & cast/ mega & drive wich made me love the game even more then before.

Edit:

I will try and do my best.... to abuse of the Confusing Star!!

Also, Richard Jacques is confirmed as composing some music in the game.

This 8 player online is made of win!!

So what's up with every Sonic stage being from Sonic Heroes? :/ Kinda lame.

That seems to be the standard for spinoffs, since the majority of the dream stages and enemies in the M&S games have been Heroes-inspired. It doesn't bother me too much, though, since the general aesthetic is fairly close to the classics. I certainly wouldn't say no to a Death Egg course, mind. Or an Eggmanland course. Final Fortress... meh.

I demand the Final Fortress stage is like a roller coaster hill, you work your way upward dodging obstacles and racing until you get to the top and drive your way down a long twisting slope switching lane from lane dodging giant lasers (like you do dodging lasers on rails in the real Sonic Heroes).

An uphill battle followed by a downhill scurry dodging lasers would totally make this stage for me.

Heroes was the first and most popular game available on 3 systems. A common denominator kind of thing?

I think it's simply because it's cheaper and easier to reuse the models and textures from Heroes again than to recreate classic stages in 3D from scratch.

All the Heroes robots may be used in a lot of spinoffs, but they also appear in Shadow the Hedgehog, too. Also, in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, there's four different Sonic stages. ALL OF THEM ARE FROM DIFFERENT GAMES! The Nocturne stage IS somewhat based on Sonic Heroes' special stage, but you can tell from the scenery in the background that it is clearly intended to take place within the Twilight Cage. There's also Radical Highway, a (heavily) modified Ice Factory (Egg Factory), and of course a Heroes stage. Its still far more variety than what this game has given.

Oh, and Dream Figure Skating features areas based on Sonic 1, Sonic 2, and Sonic Adventure.

Eep. I was more thinking about the first Mario & Sonic, but on reflection it looks like I was imagining things about that one as well. Er... Superstars Tennis had Seaside Hill in it, didn't it?

And yeah, the Tennis stages are based entirely on Sonic 1. There's Green Hill Zone and Scrap Brain Zone.

Wait, Final Fortress was confirmed? If thats true then Sumo can FUCK OFF, I was pissed off that nearly all the SST Sonic music was from Heroes and if there are THREE stages from one game representing an entire franchise I'll explode with fan rage. THERE ARE OTHER GAMES BESIDES HEROES AND SONIC 1 SUMO FOR FUCKS SAKE. Wheres my Twinkle Park, Chemical Plant Zone, City Escape, Pyramid Cave, Labyrinth Zone, Starlight Zone, Oil Ocean Zone and Flying Battery Zone stages? NOT IN THIS GAME OBVIOUSLY.

Not really considering nothing from Heroes appears to be recycled; the textures look completely redone and the stage models look completely new (its not like they could just use the entire Heroes stage models and call it a course anyway).

They've defintely been redone/remade, but their certainly not completely new. I'm pretty sure it's easier that way (using a recent and 3D model) then having to a make a 3D racing level from the ground up, bearing in mind that the levels you mentioned are in fact 2D.

Edit: Oh, and least we not forget this game is called Sonic &Sega All-Stars Racing.

Do you even understand what you're saying? The stages are BASED ON Seaside Hill and Bingo Highway, they are built from the ground up to resemble those stages, nothing has been recycled. The process is identical no matter what game they choose to take stages from, 2D or not.

Considering we were talking about the Sonic sections I fail to see why you brought that up. I was merely saying the franchise is not being represented properly.

I actually loved Sonic Heroes' stages. They brought back the whole colourful and wacky settings from the old Sonic games. Granted the engine was a bit naff but the art direction was brilliant. It had none of that "serious" approach that Adventure and 2006+Unleashed has.

I'm actually looking forward to playing this game. Engine looks smoothish but more importantly it looks rather fun. Something I havn't seen from a Sega game in a long time. (Granted I do love the Rush series ^^)

My only real problem is with Final Fortress... as industrial final levels go, it's about the least quirky and interesting one available. Granted, it being in the air could create a lot of interesting gimmickry, so I'm willing to wait and see.

Crabmeat and Chopper appearing in Seaside Hill amuses me quite a lot, even if they'll just be window dressing. I love integration of classic elements with newer ones, even if it's only in a spinoff.

Overall it's looking quite nice. I'm eager to see some screens from the DS version, though.

I do. The textures I've seen for the Seaside Hill (actually I think its more like Ocean Palace) look pretty identical to the textures used in Heroes. I understand if I'm wrong because I lack knowledge in this area, I'd have thought the fact that those textures are similar and are already in 3D (as well as probably having the original code to those games freely available) would make things easier for them than using those 2D levels.

My mistake. Misread last part of your post.
