Since people are predicting the metal sonic boss will be a stardust speedway race. I predict the Shadow boss will take place on the ark. And silver, well who knows?

There's one boss I would love to see make an appearance. But its going to be an odd one.

I want to see that manly Sonic from Sonic CD as a boss. If you can't remember well...

SCDscreen83.png

The reason why is that this Sonic appears to be an abomination from Sonic's dark self. This would prove worthy for at least an extra boss.

Looks like batman with sonic spines if you ask me.

Am I the only one who who isn't expecting Mecha Sonic to being retconned into Metal Sonic the whole time, as of Sonic 4? Meaning we fight Metal Sonic but he behaves just like Mecha Sonic and Silver Sonic? Considering the stage selected from Sonic 3&Knuckles, it's what I expect. Also given the fact that Sonic CD seems to have been overlooked.

I'd love to be wrong though. Modern Sonic Vrs. Metal on Stardust Speedway would be amazing. ( I wonder if the arena would be the good future or the bad one... )

For Silver, they could put a tiny cap on Modern's speed and have it similar to the original fight, with less table rape.

Classic would be fun, just because of it being 2D.

I've had a few ideas for boss fights for each Sonic. Basically, have each one face the others boss.

Classic-

Shadow: A race on the ARK, with Shadow using different chaos powers.

Silver: Having a closed arena where Silver just throws stuff at you. Like the fight in 06, but better.

Egg Dragoon: Avoid the drills and lasers and keep hitting the green orbs.

Modern-

Metal Sonic: A high-speed race to the finish line while avoiding traps and Metal himself.

Death Egg: S3&K Boss. Start out in 2D hitting the fingers, then the camera switches to 3D to have a quick-step phase wile the giant mech shoots fire and the giant laser. Dunno how you can damage it, though...

Perfect Chaos: Like the fight in SA, but with more added to it.

Another idea is that each hedgehog will indeed have to fight a variation of the same bosses, like how they each have to go through different versions of the 9 levels. The setting for each boss would be the same for both hedgies, the only difference would be how they're fought. Here's my idea:

-Metal Sonic: For Classic Sonic, the battle could play out similarly to the Mecha Sonic fight on Sky Sanctuary, but for Modern Sonic, it could play out similarly to the racing sequence from Sonic CD, though with shifts in the 2D/3D perspectives. Maybe he'd also be able to beat Metal Sonic in the same way he beat Shadow on the Ark: by striking him when he's unprepared. Or, maybe some parts of the battle will be like a race, where you can't damage him, but once you catch up, then he stops and you'll have to deal enough damage, until he tries to flee again and then you repeat the process until he's down. Maybe all of Modern Sonic's rival fights will work like this?

-Death Egg: The final boss for Sonic 3 and Knuckles (before Doomsday). For Classic Sonic, it would be the "fingers" portion of the boss fight (perhaps give each hand 4 fingers to make the battle last longer), but once the fingers are destroyed, it chases you and you have to beat it the same way as you did in the original. For Modern Sonic, he'll play through the chasing portion of the fight as well, where the giant mech chases you and shoots fire at you, and the only way to crush it is to hit the nose, expose the laser, and strike that. But to mix it up, perhaps the Egg Robo will go into the background, shooting lasers and missiles in the same style as the Egg Lancer boss fight, and in some portions of the fight, the perspective will shift to 3D, and the Giant Robo will burst through the ground far ahead as you have to dodge side to side its attacks to get close enough to strike it and finish it off. That'd be cool, in my book :P

-Shadow: I'd personally like to see a remake of the battle on Prison Island, since this was their first encounter, and the Ark could just end up looking similar to both Stardust Speedway and the Death Egg. For Classic Sonic, I think it should play out similarly to the Knuckles battle from Sonic 3, but with more of a challenge factor and with Shadow's chaos powers factored in. For Modern Sonic, again, similar to the Metal Sonic fight I outlined, but with Chaos Powers and other cool, colorful shit.

-Perfect Chaos: For Modern Sonic, it should definitely be almost a straight remake of the original battle, with Modern Sonic having the same speed and boosting abilities as Super Sonic did in Sonic Adventure. Of course, I think some 2D segments should be introduced, to mix things up though, and to show that it's not a TOTAL clone. For Classic Sonic through... I honestly dunno how they could pull it off. Perhaps it could be a REALLY high-speed version of the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRfZ4P9AK3Y, where Classic Sonic runs on-rails and has to dodge obstacles until he gets to Perfect Chaos and runs through him, like in the original. If he takes damage though, he slows down though, and if he's not going at a high enough velocity when he reaches Perfect Chaos... well, remember what happened in the original? Plus, I think the speed of this sequence should be REALLY fast to match that of what we've seen of Classic Sonic's gameplay.

-Silver: For Classic Sonic, again, like the Knuckles battle, but factor in Silver's telekinetic powers. I also think there should be parts where Silver can grab you, but you can escape by charging up the spin dash. For Modern Sonic, same formula as the other 2 rival battles, but perhaps how Silver escapes is by hovering away? So it makes sense as to how he can keep up with Sonic, or something.

-Egg Dragoon: For Classic Sonic, perhaps it can be Sonic Rush-styled, with the circular 2D arena where the boss tries to squeeze in some shots. Perhaps the key to damaging the 'bot is when it gets tired or looses energy, or Sonic damages it somehow, it slumps over, and you have to strike the cockpit. Of course, sequences where the ground is destroyed and you have to freefall to the next platform is a must. For the Modern battle, I'd like to see a remake of the original fight, but with Modern Sonic taking the place of the Werehog (it could be done; homing attack the weakspot instead of punching it, that's really it). That's really all that needs to be done, really... And yes, while I think the Werehog SHOULD return for some missions in Rooftop Run, since he's a big part of Sonic Unleashed and that level represents that game, the Egg Dragoon boss more or less represents the modern era more than it does Unleashed, so I think putting him in the boss would make him feel misplaced.

-Time Eater: I honestly dunno how this boss will function, but I'd like to see the boss fight switch from Classic to Modern during the course of this one battle, and for each part to be very different, rather than having 2 separate battles for each hedgehog, like each other boss more than likely will be.

That's really all I got.. we'll just have to see how they handle the bosses. I'm a bit worried that one route they'll take with the bosses is that they could be super gimmicky, with the Death Egg boss playing out like the Sky Chase mini-game from Adventure, the Perfect Chaos fight featuring Super Sonic, and the Egg Dragoon featuring the Werehog, but I sincerely hope this isn't the case, and we can simply get some straight boss fights that put what we've learned from the actual core game to the test. But that's just me. Sure, I'd love to see a Tornado, Werehog, and other cool mini-games return, but keep them as MINI-GAMES; don't introduce them for one crucial segment in the game and then tear them away before we have a chance to learn how to properly master them and use them in other situations. Plus, being able to use Super Sonic in the Perfect Chaos fight before you collect the Emeralds and can use them in other levels would just feel... weird, wouldn't you agree?

  • 2 weeks later...

So a while ago I said I didn't think the location would change for the bosses and they would just be moved to different levels (Subject then was Launch Base and Big Arm. I thought the boss was moved to Casino Night skys).

Well with Metal Sonic and Stardust Speedway, we know I was wrong. Well, now I feel silly.

I'd love it if the final boss version of Emerl of Sonic Battle could be reworked into the 3DS version of the game

As well as the Whiskers and Johnny boss fight if possible

Since I believe that Metal Sonic just takes place in an altered Chemical Plant to look like Stardust, I think that the bosses won't take place in their own area. Death Egg in Sky S., Chaos in Speed Highway etc.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude, that alone would make me wanna get the 3DS version.

Emerl was an awesome final boss. It could totally work! But I don't see that happening in Generations 3DS, though.

...But in all seriousness, I'm quite interested to see what Time Eater is. If it really is the big white evil monster thing seen on the Sonic concept, then that'd be pretty damn amazing.

Well if Sonic 3 doesn't get any representation in Generations aside from the Big Arms boss, which could turn out to be the actual boss of Green Hill Zone, then it may mean that several games will get representation in forms of boss battles. That said, I'd expect that several of the bosses in the game will go with others from throughout the series

Such as:

Green Hill- Big Arms (Sonic 3)

Casino Night- Fang (Sonic Triple Trouble or Sonic the Fighters) (I know they said that the gamegear games wouldn't get representation, but you have to admit that it would be incredibly fitting, but if not then a boss from CD)

Sonic Advance- Egg Destroyer (Sonic Rivals)

Sonic Advance 2- Ifrit (Sonic Rivals 2)

Sonic Advance 3- Emerl (Sonic Battle)

Sonic Rush- Emperor Ix (Sonic Chronicles: the Dark Brotherhood)

Sonic Rush Adventure- Nega-Wisp Armor (Sonic Colors DS)

I personally think that it would be a pretty cool thing to add to the game.

It could even work if it turns out that the classics will get the 3 levels if the 3rd stage is from Sonic & Knuckles (like say Lava Reef, Sandopolis, etc.) and not from Sonic 3, then we could just toss one of the rivals bosses and everything would be fine

That could work. And it's totally fitting, as well. It matches everything perfectly, since they're all from handheld games.

I'm hoping the Metal Sonic Boss fight takes inspiration from both Sonic CD soundtracks. Either remix both Stardust Speedway tracks together, or mix one to Classic Sonic and mix the other to Modern Sonic. Both tracks are great, and even though my personal favorite goes to the Bad Future US version, both should be represented. Worst case scenario we get boss fight music over any CD track...

Since we can sort of confirm the bosses take place in entirely different zones, I wonder where we could end up with the other fights, if they're not immediately obvious.

We've got:

Metal Sonic - Stardust Speedway

Shadow - probably somewhere on the Ark to get that space zone in there somewhere. Either that or Green Forest/White Jungle.

Silver - ??? Probably Soleanna, or something. Kingdom Valley? He might just upright be in Crisis City. Not sure how they'll work him in. That's ANOTHER city if they go with Sonic 06 hub. Maybe he won't throw you into space this time?

and

Death Egg - errr, the Death Egg Zone. Obvious flow from Sky Sanctuary to boot.

Perfect Chaos - Station Square...flowing right from Speed Highway...another City...great. Unless they get really awesome and take us back to when Chaos effs up the Echidna tribe the first time. Like that will happen though.

Eggdragoon - Eggmanland? Falling to your doom style?

Also:

Time eater-most likely its own thing or a string of lots of different acts put together where both Sonics have to team up and beat super mode style.

EDIT: Ninja'd. And done so more professionally.

But they aren't 'bosses' as such, they're just rivals within the levels. Well, apart from Metal, Shadow and Silver, who indeed are bosses.

Eh, you said "Rival Bosses", so I thought of these guys, as they were in the demo as Rivals as well.

You're right, I forgot about Knuckles...! He's included as well.

It seems that characters have been divided into 3 groups:

First, we have Sonic's friends who we encounter during zone missions. These "friends" are characters like Tails, Amy, Cream, etc.

Second, are the Rivals. There is one Rival Hedgehog per era. Metal Sonic is the Rival for the Classic Era. Shadow is the Rival for the Dreamcast Era. Silver is the Rival for the Modern Era. Unlike the "friends" who we race or team up with in zones, it appears we actually fight the Rivals in arenas specific to the battle.

Third, are the Bosses. We don't know much about them, but we do know you need Boss Keys to access them and like the Rivals there is one per Era. "Death Egg" is the Boss of the Classic Era. Perfect Chaos is the Boss of the Dreamcast Era. Egg Dragoon is the Boss of the Modern Era.
