Ooh, what if the death egg boss level has more to it then just a boss fight. Maybe it will have a short level before the boss fight.

Indeed, we still disagree Voyant, which is fine. However, I also see that you've gone and decided to troll for no real discernible reason. So forget it; I'm not going to discuss this with you anymore. You seem to think I'm a completely unappeasable as you've been constantly implying anyone who's not entirely happy is throughout this entire thread, and frankly I just think you're not listening to me at all and as a result are simply mischaracterizing me and my position. So let's agree to disagree and go our separate ways on the issue, shall we? Anymore continuation and I'm going to become bitter like Diogenes, and I pride myself on not being that bitter. xP

It was a poll targeting fans in general, and it was publicized for everyone to see. Anyone hardcore or otherwise were able to vote for them.

They did this for research. The poll is an indication what people were looking for and what they remember for each game. The poll was a marketing ploy to help solidify Sonic Team's stance as to what levels they should go for.

Meanwhile Knuckles, steps away from reclaiming the Master Emerald, takes on Hyper Mecha Sonic, a Master Emerald imbued Mecha Sonic who has absorbed some of the Emerald's power. It should be noted that when Knuckles defeats Hyper Metal Sonic he doesn't sit there incapacitated, he explodes and he's gone for good.

In regards to DLC I hope SEGA doesn't pull a Capcock move and leave the game bare bones unless you buy DLC for it. I did say I'm optimistic for what they bring to the table in terms of level design, but the level list still feels underwhelming, nonetheless I'm quite disappointed. I was really expecting SEGA to bring more levels and variety with a game that's supposed to celebrate 20 years of Sonic the Hedgehog. The amount of city based stages is ridiculous. Not saying I hate them, but Jesus, was 4 out of 9 city stages really necessary.

I would have rather preferred if SEGA took 2 iconic stages from each Sonic game instead of one.

Look, I'm still looking forward to the game. I'm still optimistic about the level design, but in terms of the level list:

Well I meant 'meanwhile' as in during the time Sonic is racing up the tower and infiltrating the Death Egg.

It obviously happens after the incapacitated Mecha Sonic falls along with the everything else.

Nah, it happens after all that. Proof being that Angel Island is in the sky again, one of the capsules that Sonic breaks in Sandopolis is already broken, Death Egg is already launched... Retro has a ton of info on this that implies it's after Sonic's ending.

But I'm sure that's been debated for ages, really. I imagine that Generations will keep it simple and focus on Sonic's version of the stage, since it's a story starring two Sonics. XD

People here are just claiming the levels dont have much veriety because they are pissed that their favorite stages are not included.

Lets say someones favorite stage was ice cap zone and it was put in the game and aside from that the list was exactly the same...

You really think they would still be bitching about the lack of "Stage veriety"

People are just finding shit to complain about because they didnt get their ice cap zone or their lava reef zone or their "insert zone name here" zone.

It's the essentially the beginning of the climax of the Death Egg saga.

The stage starts with the Death Egg rising out over the cloud cover, taking its place back in the sky, floating ominously over the beautiful landscape. It starts to send out Egg Robos to terrorize the place. The misunderstanding between Sonic and Knuckles has finally resolved and the two have them have set aside their differences to team up, defeat Eggman, and get back the Master Emerald.

Sonic is speeding his way up Sky Sanctuary, a place that has long been unseen and untouched by people other than Knuckles for a great number of years. He makes his way up higher and higher, destroying Egg Robos as he makes his way up using various teleportation devices before reaching the final one.

Mecha Sonic zooms by and destroys the teleportation device, a message to Sonic that 'There is no escape'. They fight one last time and he's incapacitated. The ground beneath Sonic begins to crumble and in a mad dash for the Death Egg he uses his amazing speed to climb up the tallest tower and infiltrate Eggman's mighty, Star Wars inspired stronghold.

Sky Sanctuary is fucking epic, tragic, and beautiful all at the same time. It's the best Sonic stage. Okay? Okay.

Well, I can see where the complaints are coming from. However, Sonic Team might do something to make the stages a bit more varied, like make Speed Highway focused more on the neon lights and construction rather than just a romp through the city. Have bits of Flame Core in Crisis City. We have no idea how these stages will look.

But I hope they use Ocean Palace's music instead of Seaside Hill. :|b

I'd have liked more variety, myself. They really are too much of the same. I'd have like to have seen

Sonic 1 - Green Hill - Grass based

Sonic 2 - Chemical Plant - Water based

Sonic & Knuckles - Sky Sanctuary - Sky/Ancient based

Sonic Adventure - Ice Cap - Snow based

Sonic Adventure 2 - City Escape - City based

Sonic Heroes - Bingo Highway - Casino based

Sonic 06 - Flame Core - Volcano/Fire based

Sonic Unleashed - Eggmanland - Final Zone based

Sonic Colours - Starlight Carnival/Terminal Velocity - Space based

I'll enjoy it regardless of level choice.

Considering how Flame Core and Crisis City are side by side, Crisis City is based much around fire and lava, and some of the buildings of CC are crumbled into mountains, I'm almost certain Flame Core and Crisis City are going to be both represented in the "Crisis City" stage, just as Ocean Palace elements are going to get lots of focus inside of the Seaside Hill stage.

I'm going to bet £1,000 that as soon as we see some screenshots of Crisis City, Planet Wisp, Sky Sanctuary and Ocean Palace (or Seaside Hill if you want to call it that)...people will say "OMG, this is the best Sonic Game EVA!!!"

Sonic fans are so bi-polar.

Geez this topic's crazy, Anyways I like the stage list for the most part. Sure I'm kinda dissapointed that a casino/carnival stage isn't in it, or that ice cap or lava reef zone isn't in it. But the game packs a lot of content, and replayability. The bosses are freakin EPIC. Shadow, metal sonic, silver, and perfect freakin chaos!!!! I find that the good in this game pretty much outweighs the somewhat same-ish level selection.

No they're not, and if you'd read the topic you'd actually understand why people are disappointed.

Ice Cap would be an improvement. But not a saving grace of any sorts. I fucking love Sky Sanctuary, but it doesn't automatically redeem my disappointment in the list.

This is awfully judgmental, and such a stereotype to apply to people who might not like something.

I think the main thing that should be noted in this thread before this conversation gets more volatile, assuming that's possible, is that the 99.9% of the people who are unhappy in this thread are probably going to enjoy the actual gameplay because the actual controls and the level design- regardless of the actual level aesthetics- look to be great, which is mostly why we've been so praising of the two stages we've seen already. Subsequent enjoyment will probably be had through the storyline, music, and ungodly amounts of fanservice Generations is looking to provide. That the game is now terrible is not what we're saying much less even implying.

All we've said is that the actual level list is disappointing either because we feel the tropes are too repetitious or simply because one of our favorites didn't get in. Why such a statement has been turned around to mean we now find nothing in the game worth buying and that we're schizos or something is just fucking beyond me, but nonetheless, I feel this needs to not only be said, but repeated constantly until it's ultimately understood so this conversation is to regain some semblance of mutual respect. No one should even have to qualify any dissenting opinion with, "I'm still going to enjoy Generations" before they're allowed to state that opinion because they don't want to get chewed out by a mob of people shouting that they're being unpleasable. Intolerant optimism has been just as much a bane on this fanbase's reputation as intolerant cynicism.

Seriously, can we just, I don't know, listen to each other's opinions? =/

My stance was that I wasn't really going to buy the game anyway, but was interested in playing the demo (I still am, and will if it comes out for the PC) and what the level list was going to look like.

So when I say my interest in the game is now almost gone, I mean just that. All I really wanted to play to begin with was just classic Sonic's levels, and the bulk of what I was looking forward to, the levels choices themselves, has been completely shot down in my eyes.

You know what I find funny...

No matter what SEGA picked people would have still be bitching about the level list regardless...hell maybe if a different list was announced perhaps I would be complaining as well.

This whole big fight...no matter what the outcome was was inevitable.

I'm done...
