Question #19: Regardless of how close or how far the similarities start and finish, which character(s) would you say you sound the most similar to?

Somewhere between SA Knuckles and Espio; fairly low, plain, non-expressive voice. Much like Espio I find myself not projecting my voice very much, to the point that I sometimes have almost a deep whisper.

Day 19

I would have to say Boom Tails. I'm geeky and eccentric, and generally uplifted and happy, but I'm not really afraid to call people out on their mistakes or misdemeanours. At times I can also get quite snarky but I try to be as polite and down to earth as I can be. I'm certainly not as smart or inventive as Tails is though. I guess I am also quite close to Sonic in Unleashed/Black Knight. For the most part I'm calm and collected but when the situation calls for it I can get mouthy with others. I care a lot about my friends, and I could describe myself as a free spirit.

Day 19 - Who does Mambo Sound Like?

Well I have a British accent, but not one that's attached to anywhere; yknow what I mean? Like... it's not RP, definitely not RP but I'm from a small town that really has no accent; we're sort of between Birmingham and Stoke on Trent! :D I spent 7 years in Birmingham; I did a Bachelor's and a Master's there, and my sister reckons I picked up some Brummie along the way. But my family moved Oop Norf, to a town where everyone speaks with an almost comedically Northern accent; long vowels and running words with "the" into each other. (Basically everyone sounds like Peter Kay!) As a student I'd spend my summers there. I've also spent a lot of time in Bristol, and now I live in in Prague the native English speakers I spend time with tend to be from the US or Australia (Brits not so much). So gawd knows what's happened to my accent now! :D

I guess the nearest would be Blaze, the way she speaks implies she works hard to sound a certain way. I think in terms of how I come across, that's probably it.

Question #19: Regardless of how close or how far the similarities start and finish, which character(s) would you say you sound the most similar to?

I seldom listen to my recorded voice, but what comes out of my mouth ain't Sonic or Knuckles, for sure. So I'll take a guess based on my memory and say Big, only more expressive. Sure, sometimes my pitch goes all over the place just like Jet, but I can picture myself going "Froggy, where are you?" no problem.

Sorry if this time the answer is just this short, but I don't think I can elaborate more on this.

I have a rather boring voice. Obviously, boring voices do not have much place in a bright, colourful series with big, bold personalities.

Yet, the Knuckles SA2 and Heroes voice was probably one of the bst acted roles of tht time period, despite just being a plain, normal voice. So that's who I'm probably closest to.

Question 16: What is your favourite glitch/cheat?

Debug Mode in Sonic 2. Aside from getting Super Sonic when I wanted, there were certain stages I could not beat and was forced to cheat my way through to get to the end. I love earning my ending as much as the next guy, but Sonic 2 kinda made me go "fuck it" at times.

Especially when it came to the Death Egg. 1 hit KO was just the most nerve-rackingly cheap moments whenever I slipped up ONCE. Like really? All my hard work getting here squashed like that?

Question #17: Which characters/bosses/enemies/etc have the most amusing designs to you?

Probably going to have to be the Tails Doll's transformation in the Archie Comics when it goes against Team Freedom

Tails_Doll_battle_form.png

What amuses me is less its design and more how in the fuck they got away with that design. Seriously, either the censors were asleep, didn't care, or were mind-numblingly oblivious to how this disturbing image looked, because it's surprising how this managed to get through the way it did. Like wow...

Question #18: Realistically, which character(s) would you say you would have the biggest chance(s) of befriending?

Much as I don't like him in the games specifically, Big the Cat is pretty high up there.

I have to admit, the guy is pretty easy-going and chill, and we could get along so long as our conversations are really simple. Of course at some point, I might get bored of the small talk.

Next up would be Cream the Rabbit due to how sweet and polite she is. Some people may not be fond of her in the games, but if she were a real life person, they'd be nothing short of cruel acting the same way toward her.

I'd also like to consider Eggman, but he'd be way to unpredictable and dangerous to me to befriend given his ego and desires.

Day 19: Regardless of how close or how far the similarities start and finish, which character(s) would you say you sound the most similar to?

Eh, surprisingly enough, the closest would have to be Sonic himself. My voice isn't that low, but doesn't get so high unless I'm really over excited. And given how much more of a middle ground he is tonal wise, I can't hear myself as sounding like any other male character, naturally speaking.

Although it really goes well with the wisecracks I make in real life, so that brings me closer to the Blue Blur himself.

Day 19: Regardless of how close or how far the similarities start and finish, which character(s) would you say you sound the most similar to?

Um, I don't sound remotely close to any of them. I lack any solid accent to compare to them for start, but my voice is considered unique even compared to an entire hundred-strong crowd in real life, a dozen or so characters don't stand a chance of having comparable voices.

Day 19: Which Character do I Sound Like?

Hmm... My voice is just all around unremarkable really. I'll have to go with Silver though, I can do a pretty good impression of him just by pitching up slightly and speaking with a nasally voice. I can also do decent imitations of Drummond/Griffith Sonic, Humphrey Shadow, and Bristow Eggman. They're a bit further from my normal voice though.

Day 19: Who I Sound Like

I shall be brief here.

I've been told by several people I can sound like Martin Burke's Sonic in the OVA at times. This isn't intentional on my part, I guess it just happens.

Day 19: Regardless of how close or how far the similarities start and finish,

which character(s) would you say you sound the most similar to?

This is a very trick question. I have a very deep voice and am soft-spoken most of the time, and my voice always is interpreted differently by others, especially on recording and video. But I guess I'd have to say Big or Storm for how deep their voices are, and they sound somewhat similar as to how I do anyways.

Another catch up for me

Day 18: Most likely character to befriend

SEGA Amy

Amy always seems to come across as the optimist type, a;ways seeing the positives in things. From that angle, I can definitely see a similar personality to mine. I'm pretty much always poking positives in bad situations so I imagine things going well on that front.

Day 19: Character Sound-a-like

Jason Griffith Sonic

I'm choosing this one for very particular parts of his performance. In Sonic Unleashed, Sonic would blurt out little phrases when you activated the boost. Sonic's voice would sometimes go into a higher pitch depending on the phrase. I also tend to do the same thing whenever something surprises/excites me. Scraping the barrel here but it's about the best I can think of.

I feel like my voice is a more nasal version of Roger's Sonic, I think?

Like the weird thing is the voice I hear and the voice everyone else hears or when it's recorded are strangely different.

The voice I hear is a bit more deeper than the voice everyone else hears so yeah, might have to go with the current Sonic voice.

Man, why are things so weird for me?

I make some silly jokes, I can do a decent impression of Roger's Sonic and I guess I do tend to have a big mouth and sass a lot.

So yeah, that's me from my part....

Day 19! Which character do I most sound like!

Probably Blaze...with a British accent.

See, it's kind of difficult to say because since the voice cast is American I can't really compare my own accent to theirs. XD;; But I think the closest would be Blaze, specifically Laura Bailey's Blaze since hers is much softer and less harsh compared to Bella Hudson. My voice is soft, not super girly but still fairly recogniseable as a girl's voice. So yeah, I think that's the closest comparison. -w-

17. Scourge because of how utterly "edgy" it is, never mind the fact he's a literal recolour, the scars are literally there for the edginess factor and the black coat and shoes scream midlife crisis.

18.Tails, could totallly see me and him geeking out together.

19. Blaze, I'm fairly high pitched but my voice is lower and smoother than Amy's or Wave's or Sticks's or the like.

Day 17: Which characters/bosses/enemies/etc have the most amusing designs to you?

I'm gonna focus on bosses here just because.

Well, character design, I've gotta go with King Boom Boo from SA2. He's so funny-looking, he fit with the style of the level before it (Aquatic Mine), and I genuinely liked the design of the boss battle itself. You couldn't just hit him whenever and however, you had to run first, then hit the button to open the door to let sunlight in to scare him off, THEN you could dig his shadow out of the floor/wall and attack! Super fun boss, super funny design.

05.jpg

King Boom Boo won out because of his character design, but I also really like Egg Viper from SA1. I'm not exactly sure what it is about this boss that I like so much, but I always have an absolute blast playing it.

Day 18: Realistically, which character(s) would you say you would have the biggest chance(s) of befriending?

I'm gonna go with Sonic and Tails. I feel that my personality matches extremely well with Sonic's; we're both carefree, go-with-the-flow, trustworthy, but hotheaded and impatient. Therefore, I can see us agreeing with a lot of things and having the same mindset, as well as liking the same types of things. With Sonic X Sonic especially, I very much enjoy just sitting back and chilling after a long day, too.

With Tails, he seems like a cool little-brother type that I could also pal around with. I'm already used to having a little brother, so hanging out with Tails wouldn't be too different for me, and Tails is always hanging with Sonic, so he's used to that type of personality! He's also extremely smart, and with me being in college for physician assistant, we'd have a lot of interesting sciencey things and discoveries to talk about.

Day 19: Regardless of how close or how far the similarities start and finish, which character(s) would you say you sound the most similar to?

This is gonna sound weird, but probably somewhere in the middle of Blaze and Tails. I do have a fairly boyish voice, but it's not to the point where I sound like a legit 8 year-old boy. So yes it's boyish, but you can tell it's a girl talking.

Most amusing Sonic design, eh? *Checks previous answers* Oh COME ON, nobody seriously got to this one yet? I'm absolutely SHOCKED:

1z20u4k.jpg

Titan Tails

THIS has got to be the absolute low point of Archie Sonic's original character designs. (Or any Sonic character design in general, really.) The idea: Take every Tails from every part of the multiverse and have them do the fusion dance to create THE ULTIMATE TAILS. Now, would THE ULTIMATE TAILS possibly reflect the full potential of his scientific genius or a more heroic, confident take ala Sonic in a way that would play off the different parts of his actual character? NOPE. BUFF TAILS. That's it. BUFF. TAILS. BUFFAILS. MILES "TAILS" PROWER IS THE HULK. Just looking at this monstrosity, I die laughing every single time. Just the fact that they thought this was an acceptable way to bring Tails to his full potential as "The Chosen One" and that Sega SIGNED OFF ON THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE is the most hilarious thing to ever come out of the Archie series. After THIS, I'm not surprised that Sega eventually took more control over what the book could and couldn't do. I mean...THIS was one of his powers:

2dvsqhe.jpg

PfffffBWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH!!!!

*Wipes tear from eye* Sorry. Can't look at that with a straight face. And people complain about Boom Knuckles.

Oh my gosh I completely forgot. Whoever thought this design was a good idea needs to step on a lego brick.

Question #19: Regardless of how close or how far the similarities start and finish, which character(s) would you say you sound the most similar to?

I don't really sound like a Sonic character. Some friend told me I sound like Big the Cat (him again) because I usually don't speak too quickly... other than that, I don't know, really :P

Question #19: Regardless of how close or how far the similarities start and finish, which character(s) would you say you sound the most similar to?

This hard especially since I have somewhat a southern accent. I not know any Sonic character that has southern accent either or close to it. I will pick based on careful thought Silver with a touch of Shadow and a little bit of Espio. That was real hard to choose. They are the closest but not close to my real true voice.

Day 19: Question: Regardless of how close or how far the similarities start and finish, which character(s) would you say you sound the most similar to?

Hmmm...I'd say that I sound most similar to Cindy Robinson's Amy Rose

hQFkHYL.png?1
NO, not like THAT Amy aka Minnie Mouse (image courtesy of Krizeii on Devianart)

THIS Amy:

pw4x8QW.gif?1
Sonic Boom Amy specifically :)

After a massive improvement, Amy now has a warm and friendly voice and I've been told that I have such a voice in compliments I have received from customers at my job either in person or over the phone as I often work at Customer Service as I work at a grocery store. Interestingly enough my 7 year old niece, who loves Amy, had told me that 'Amy sounds like me' when we watched Sonic Boom for the first time :P

Qbvnp7w.png?2

When it comes to what kind of speech you hear with my voice, I imitate Cream A LOT. I tend to say "Yes Sir, Yes Ma'am, Mr. or Ms. So-and-so" to pretty much everyone. Even those younger to me as I feel they as well as everyone else is entitled to such respect :)

Question #19: Regardless of how close or how far the similarities start and finish, which character(s) would you say you sound the most similar to?

WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THIS

Um... Hard to say... I guess I kind of sound like Knuckles' first VA maybe...? God this is hard. I don't really sound like any Sonic character normally. I am able to mimic Jason Griffith's Shadow though? Does that count?

DAY 17: YOU AMUSE ME DR. EGGMANN

image.jpg1_4.jpg

I'd have to say the Casino Park/Bingo Highway Eggpawns, they're cute. I don't know if Eggman was intending them to be "sexy", like the human versions are supposed to be, if he was, he failed, they're too adorable.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DAY 18: HANGIN' WITH MR. SONIC

I was originally going to say Sonic, cause we probably have a similar sense of humor, but the more I thought about it, I realized I'd probably bore the poor guy to tears. I'm about as far from adventurous as you can get.

Thinking about it more, I think I could get along with Team Rose pretty well, they're all nice, cheery people, and so am I. Big is very laid back, and I'm pretty laid back myself, and I'd love to go fishing with Big and Froggy. I'm usually pretty popular with kids so I'd get get along with Cream & Cheese pretty well, we're also both polite so that's a plus. Even though I'm not the most out going person in the world I think me and Amy would get along, I'd love to get her to teach me all the interesting recipes I'm sure she makes. I think you could have a great time just like, I don't know, having a picnic or something with these guys.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DAY 19: ON THIS PLANET DRINKING MY COFFEE I NOTICE I NOTICE MANY MANY THINGS THAT SOUND ALIKE

I don't think I really sound like any character. I guess maybe Pete Capella's Silver, but I don't even think I sound much like him. Possibly a combination of Pete Capella's Silver and Mark Ballou's Rotor, but I might be way off.

I'm not sure if this counts, but when I was a child, I think I sounded somewhat like Emily Corkery's Charmy, it was pretty high.

Day 19: If only my voice were a sonic characters.

This is a tough one but if I had to give it to somebody i'd probably say knuckles in sonic adventure 2, my voice is pretty darn deep (though only when i'm listening to it on something since I still sound pretty young from my perspective) and its naturally a bit more relaxed since I don't yell much so yeah knuckles.

DAY NINETEEN: CHARACTER I SOUND MOST LIKE

...I can't remotely think of a character I sound most like. I'm...not really much of a voice actor, but I do have a way to pitch my voice when I'm speaking.

Sometimes I could have a bit of Jaleel White's Sonic in me when I get a bit more nasally with my voice. Other times I could probably either fit Kate Higgin's Tails a bit, especially when my voice starts to get really high pitched. My more raspy voice could probably go with either Jason Griffith or Kirk Thorton's Shadow, if it were toned up by about three octaves.

Hmm, who do I sound like the most? That's a good question and one I've never gave much thought to. I guess I sound closest to Cindy Robinson's Amy as of Boom in overall tone and pitch.

~SSMB Has Cleared Volitive Volage Vocals Act 19!~

"I live by my own rules. Remember that." - Winston Churchill, Sonic and the Fight on the Beach (1940)

Question #20: What are your top ten (or less) cutscenes in the games?

The-Third-Man-1949.jpeg

"Bluff."

Sonic and his friends have had some pretty smashing scenes in their games over the years.

Maybe you have a few favourites yourself.

...

...

What are they.

...

...

...

Really don't have much else to say in order to build this one up.

NOTE 1: However, in order to make things a little more challenging (and/or to make us sound less biased towards particular games), you must choose only one cutscene per game.

NOTE 2: Despite the question saying top ten, you can choose less than ten if you want to (I went with nine). You also don't have to list them in any particular order.

Crusher's Thoughts: Well, here's mine. As I generally tend to do with these sort of things, I'll list them from oldest to most recent. (And before anyone says anything, yes, I'm aware that most of my choices are Robotnik-related. Of course a fan of a character is going to appreciate the scenes in which he feels said character has been done justice. It's no different from how any other fan would feel about scenes for their own favourite character. :P)

Sonic CD - "I'm going to Tesco, do you need anything?"

maxresdefault.jpg

It's a classic, isn't it. It definitely left an impression on Young Me when I first watched it via Mega Collection's Extra section. Like a lot of fans, I thought that Sonic doing all those acrobatic tricks, making his way to the Little Planet like a superhero, was really, really cool. But there's also Sonic's behaviour during it. When he gets to his destination, he sees the ramifications of Robotnik's recent work, and he's visibly shocked by it. Then, without saying a word (and before you get the wrong idea, I'm not one of those "Sonic shouldn't talk" types of folk, so don't start), he puts his game face on and uses his momentum down the hill to make a great leap towards the Little Planet. In addition to the great animation and the amazing skills that Sonic displays, it tells you all you need to know about the core concept of Sonic (and I suppose Robotnik as well, even though the latter doesn't actually make a physical appearance here).

Also, I'm sorry, but as much as I love the JP/EU soundtrack, I still prefer Sonic Boom for the intro.

Sonic Adventure - Does this technically spoil the finale?

maxresdefault.jpg

Adventure 1 was full of choices for me, such as Amy defending Gamma, Gamma's own sacrifice, Robotnik firing the missile, Tails standing up to the Egg Walker... but I decided to go with the crazy introduction for the game, in which not much is actually explained, but that's okay, because we get to see the characters looking cool, even when they're just shopping (like with Amy), standing there (like with Big) or posing like a pirate (like with Robotnik). It's full of action, it pumps you up, and it leads you into the mystery of who and what this water monster is, and what role he has in the story.

Sonic Adventure 2 - This is disrespectful to Luna's feelings.

hqdefault.jpg

It's always good to have an opportunity in which we get to see how scared the people of the world can be when Robotnik's doing his thing. Scenes like this remind you that Robotnik isn't a mere clown, he is a legitimate menace. You really feel as though something horrible has happened thanks to the general mood of both Robotnik's threat and the reactions to said threat. I may not be crazy for Adventure 2's version of Robotnik as much as most other Eggman fans are, but even I agree that this scene is a great moment for the doctor.

Sonic Battle - "He must have been one swood Gizoid."

hqdefault.jpg

Even though some of the characterisations presented in Battle were... bizarre at times, the ending still leaves a good enough impact in my opinion. It's sad because if it weren't for Robotnik's dickery, Emerl would have still been able to live and continue his life in peace for the most part. However, as sad as Emerl's goodbye is in itself, there's one thing in particular that made me add this to my choices for this question: namely, what Tails says at the very end.

"Someday... If this world finally knows true peace... If this world no longer needs weapons or wars... If we can make this world a truly peaceful place when we're older... If we can make a world where there's only laughter... Do you think we'll be able to play with Emerl again?"

Some people may find it silly for a kid to be the one in the cast being all deep, but if you ask me, this is perfectly in-character for him, and it's one of the reasons for why I love the character. Tails has always been one of the most selfless characters in the whole series, and this scene proves that to me. All he wants is for everyone to be happy, how can you argue with that?

Not to undermine Sonic's own contribution either, whose simple response to Tails' query, after a short pause...

"Yeah. Definitely."

...is also a good moment for the hedgehog as well. Personality differences aside, I guess Sonic and Tails really are similar to each other in more ways than one. No wonder they're such good friends.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 - I am serious.

D4dUm.png

Yeah yeah, Sonic '06, that's showbiz.

Like with some fans, I do genuinely like the game's intro (and the very last part of the ending - or should that be the reset intro? - but we're not talking about that one for the time being). Final Fantasy humans and Young Ivo Cosplaying Gerald's prominent Ben Kingsley facial features aside, I wouldn't say it's that bad for an introduction. I mean, Sonic's getting to be himself here, which is actually kind of strange to see in retrospect. If nothing else, it's hilarious to go from this reasonable amount of detail to what comes immediately after.

Sonic and the Secret Rings - "Please don't tell me that Rock the Place shite is playing in that lamp for all eternity too."

FD32.png

A Secret Rings choice? From Crusher? Yes, even I can throw a surprise or two at you when I feel like it. For starters, it's satisfying to see Erazor Djinn/A Bottle of Djinn/I'm Bi-Djinning/Djinn Djinninee Djinn Djinninee Djinn Djinn Djinnee get his just desserts after not only the humiliation he put Sonic through, but also the emotional manipulation he put Shahra through. Erazor, to his credit, goes out with remorseless defiance, even pulling one last attempt to appeal to Shahra's insecurities surrounding their relationship, like the villain he is. But then there's also what happens after, when Sonic does his best to comfort the now distraught Shahra as soon as Erazor has been dealt with. I'm always willing to give Sonic himself credit where I feel it's due, and this is an example of such... even if the "mountain of handkerchiefs" part is still a little weird.

Sonic Unleashed - The Movie: The Game

maxresdefault.jpg

We all know this one by now, to the point in which I'm not even sure on what I can say about it since loads of others will probably end up saying the same things anyway. Rightly so, it IS pretty fantastic. While I do think it goes on a liiiittle too long for an intro, I like it a lot regardless. Sonic's doing cools stunts, Robotnik eventually gets the drop on him and technically defeats Super Sonic, and once again, we know that a disaster has truly happened due to the way that the subsequent planet-breaking is presented. It's a shame that the space fleet featured in the intro was never an actual zone in the game. D=

Sonic Generations - "It was me, Ivo!"

maxresdefault.jpg

Some people may call the reveal with the Time Eater obvious, and maybe it was, but you know what? After all those years in which Robotnik was constantly getting punted aside by almost every other big bad villain available, I wasn't sure if Colours was merely going to be a one-off lucky break for the doctor. So when I saw the reveal (well, a spoiler about it more specifically, but still), yes, I was surprised, and I was ecstatic. Finally, the Eggman - or rather, the Eggmen - successfully mechanised and maintained complete control over a giant monster. This is big for me, man.

Of course, it was also pretty cool to see the brief but memorable interaction between Classic Robotnik and Modern Robotnik, especially the implications going by that one comment Classic Robotnik made that Robotnik overall has gotten more twisted as time has went on. Which is obviously fine with me. Not only that, but despite the criticisms the vagueness surrounding it gets (which I can understand, at least to a certain extent), this actually raised my interest in what the deal with the Time Eater was. For example, whatever it was beforehand, was it actually benevolent before Robotnik got his hands on it, and thus it's nothing more than a helpless victim? (It helps that I always had the impression that the Time Eater's erratic movements following the reveal were it's own futile attempts to escape from the Eggmen's control.)

Sonic Lost World - "Hang on, I was sure I was a foot taller than you."

Zavok_disapproves.png

Like with Adventure 1, this was another tough decision for me - I was indecisive between this one and the pre-final boss cutscene in which Robotnik reveals his Mission Impossible stunt and Modern Death Egg Robot - but here we are. I like this one because it's pretty good for both Robotnik and Zavok. We get a hint to Zavok's ruthless side with the way he questions Robotnik's control of him and the rest of his gang, which in turn is countered by Robotnik's own ruthlessness via the reveal and use of the Cacophonic Conch. Even if Sonic messed things up later on, it's still another good example of the "You're not going against me, get back in line right now." behaviour that Robotnik has recently been displaying. I really like Zavok as an antagonist, and it's nice to see Robotnik not running away in fear at the first sign of another villain's danger like what happened with Mephileslie, so it's a win-win for me.

So with that out of the way, you may now post awaaaaaayyyy!~
