Sonic Runners (iOS/Android) - Thread Version 2.0

Currently at E*. It's hard climbing the ranks... But hey, I got Shahra.

Been trying to reach 5mil in score, as that is the top high score of my legion, currently. Any ideas on how?

Got 98 RSR, and I'm hoping to spin for a Battle Cruiser. Wish me luck.

Didn't get Battle Cruiser. You lucky bastards somehow got it...

I got 10 eggs and spun the premium wheel, got the Easter Bunny companion, and then gave 50RSR and got the Marine Chao! (For a minute I thought it would be a chao with Marine the Racoon's design but oh well XD)

Well, you get points for staying alive, but doesnt he die for hitting the wall?

Had the same bug with Rouge a lot of times, you dont get points by staying alive, distance doesnt go up becouse its not moving, getting stuck like that its not good, once i couldnt die so i wasted a live and 2.5mil score :(

now that I look at running animations from 06 and generations I see it's similar indeed.

Had sonic adventure 2 animations in mind while looking at Runners ones, since it seemed to slide faster back then xD

doesnt it match too? It does the same on Adventure 2, first fast and then slow.

yup!

What I had in mind was when he went downhill it would slide/animate faster, like every character in that game, guess runners is right after all , my mistake :P

Still dunno why they never fixed eggman.

Oh well, rsr and roulette should be top priority...

I don't think there is something inherently wrong with a gacha system. Most japanese mobile games have them pretty much. The problem is the way they went about putting Character Eggs on the roulette. Not only is the percent chance super low that you have to pray to the RNG gods, but you can get the same character twice. :V And after the worldwide release, getting a character twice doesn't even give you 9 special eggs anymore. You know they fucked up when they extend the distribution on a character because even Iizuka is having problems. Also take the fact that they slap their Casino Night motif from their games onto the system and people instantly associate it with gambling because it's a fucking casino night and it induces more rage than having chosen an actual toy capsule dispenser theme.

The prices are a bit steep on RSR too, but that's to be expected from jap developers when it comes to in-game currency and DLC. Pretty much only buy RSR when it goes on sale.

I thought of suggestions to propose that could make the system potentially better. Most of the things people suggest here to improve the system do not take into consideration people who are easily getting RSR and stacking them (like lowering the price to 25 RSR per spin). Those suggestions benefit them way more, which SEGA does not want.

Few things that could make the system better:

1. Raise the Character Egg chance to 8.00% on the Premium Roulette.

2. Make it so you can't obtain the same character twice, or at least make acquiring a duplicate max out the character to Lvl.100 in addition to the 50 RSR refund and return the 9 special eggs. Getting the character a third time is not possible.

3. Introduce a new "monthly" payment system for RSR (like the gem pass in LINE Play). It would cost $30USD and give the player an equivalent of that amount in RSR upon purchase, one free Special Roulette spin, and for the next thirty days, each day you login grants you 100 RSR (amounting to 3000 RSR by the end of the month). The pass can only be purchased again once your subscription has ended, and if you renew it immediately once it expires you get a discount.

This way people feel less cheated by the roulette, getting the same character multiple times feels less stupid, and SEGA actually gets money from people outside of japan. The roulette is here to stay, but who says it can't be made better?

I keep comparing the Roulette to Love Live's paid-currency card pickup and for a Character (which I equate to as a UR) It's a 1% chance in Love Live, but a 6% in Runners, so it's technically less difficult. And in both you can get doubles, but doubles are justified in Love Live as you can use to UR's to get a UR 8 star (so fusing cards). Getting the same character twice should at least boost them up 50 levels or something, and then give out special eggs.

I know, I play Love Live, which is why I said gacha is so popular in Japan. Also Love Live gives out free things like candy. Play a game like idolmaster Cinderella Girls and look at the price of the currency.

Yeah, Love Live's a lot fairer than iDOLM@STER. (Haven't bought anything in Cinderella Girls, but I've played it and the PS3 game and DLC in that is crazy expensive!)

But yeah, compared to western F2P games, Japanese ones are normally a lot more expensive and more pay-to-win. I guess it's how tolerant the countries are to being pushed to spend.

Yes this is true. I have imas 2 and ofa for ps3 too and have spent over $1600 in DLC for those two games, and that's not including all of it (only have about 4 monthly catalogs for each game, which are like $200 each). I had to stop because I didn't have the budget to buy all the DLC. These types of idol games are catered to a specific demographic too (middle-aged men, businessmen) who have the salary to waste on this. I guess we are not fazed about the pricing and unfairness of this game like other people since this isn't the first time we have been exposed to the jap game economy xd

>over 1600 dollars on two games

>still isn't even all the dlc

and people allow this kind of business practice to go on.

Yeah, although I never spend that much on DLC (I can't remember how much, but each song was about $15 and I bought 2 plus some costumes, so I guess I spent $40 on imas 2?). After that I realised just how much I was spending and you get hardly anything!

If you bought them all plus the G4U packs, you'd be spending much more! But yeah, as long as you could afford all that DLC, that's your purchases. ($1600 should be enough to say "I've got enough" though, it's impossible to buy all the DLC). But yeah, it's exploiting the system that's for sure. Bandai Namco have been doing this for a decade now, so they've made it a fine art (of exploitation) XD

But yeah, knowing that JP in-game transactions are expensive makes Runners seem less ridiculous.

Yeah and we are going to continue to get this because of the japanese consumers. The worst thing is that these japanese companies know that we don't like these types of pricing, but they can't change it specifically for us otherwise the japanese start complaining that they're being untreated unfairly.

Why would Japanese audiences complain about not being overcharged? Saving money is always a good thing.

I thnk Purinx is saying if it were cheaper everywhere else but Japan, and they cuahgt wind of it, they'd complain for being overcharged compared to other countries. Although the conversion rates for Runners' RSR are uneven... on Android the $10.49 pack is $11.04 on iOS... (Australian pricing), so it's not consistent now anyways...

Here the highest rsr bundle costs as much as 2 games for consoles. Its really much

Yeah, and it only like 30 spins (and by looking at the latest results i've, half of those will be 3 eggs)

I could get that in less than 10 days, and now that i have the battle cruiser lv2 maybe even sooner.

On iOS the largest bundle is $50 (AUD) and gives you 466 RSR (plus 1034 for first time buyers). Which is a heck of a lot! 1500RSR in total.

Yeah, 30 spins, now that i think about it, if its a full new game, its only like half of it, but still, way too much money.

I agree. Here that bundle costs 40$ (North America) and I bought the bundle that comes before that (due to taxes I couldn't get the 40$ bundle) I got 800 RSR and I spent basically 90% of it and got Rouge.

I finally got Knuckles! Now I'll be able to use the two power type buddies to increase the score, and hopefully it'll work.

Also, encountered this odd glitch (It's probably because of the lag, or I did it too fast at that time): When I was fighting Eggman shooting saws out of his Eggmobile, after a few hits, the lag kicked in, and Eggman is behind the player! I had to force myself to go back, (losing a couple of invincibilities) and do the thing again.
