This is only a teardown in components and is missing out on significant manufacturing, distributing, marketing etc. prices. They're not making a gain on this. Like Nintendo they only profit once a game is sold with it.

If thats the case though...isn't that backwards thinking? If you hate something you don't buy it THEN wreak it, you just ignore it or post angry comments on the internet or something....

 

I'm not the biggest fan of the X1 but I'm not going to prove that by paying 500$ for the thing to just wreak it, I'll just not buy it.

 

Ether way, I just see this video as one of those "shock!" videos that many post during a system launch; do some crazy thing with your brand new system on the internet or in public for people to notice you. Its stupid, but thats just what happens during launches of new things :), I'm sure there are videos of iPads and iPhones getting wrecked when the new ones come out.

I don't get what the problem is. Some people like to do these things to see what happens when you microwave a piece of ju- hardware, sure its a waste of money but some just like to do these things either for views or for personal enjoyment (also I don't think he really hated the thing, he just didn't care about it). Though I will echo that quoted YT comment and say that it could've been donated to someone who wants it instead of being burned alive.

Wow that's...wow. I not really surprised that guy did that since there was/is a Youtube channel that does these very things, but...damn. Know how much money that guy possibly wasted doing this?

Honestly I'd more surprised by the fact the PS4 controller itself uses the sensor bar to display a red light of death than anything else :U

I don't know why everyone is flipping out, it's an obvious rope in for views which with new sources and the constant spreading, is just (and pun intended), adding fuel to the fire. Guy will probably be back next week with a torched Xbox One, and as it scrapes 100,000 views on the PS4 one, I'm sure there's another jackass somewhere that will actually buy this toasted hunk of junk just for the the pure novelty and "bragging" rights anyway.

Yes, guys, I am aware that people do this for every new console launch for page views. That doesn't make it any less stupid or any less of a waste. The thing is sold out at most places and there are people out there who want one for Christmas, but obviously can't get one. They could have also done something charitable with it.
