HMV is crap with their pricing e.g. they have the same CD, same album, same arist, but different prices one had £10 and the other £15, they also screwed by giving the normal edtion the special edtions price and I found their game section dearer than Gamestation.

Also if Gamestation goes their will be nothing were I live, nothing, their isn't a HMV for miles and there no specialist stores at all.sleep.png

The whole GAME dilemma reminds me exactly of what happened with BORDERS in the states.

Holy cow...

If thats true... someone got all this for 49p!

MCV's latest magazine cover.

The article can be found here. And it was such an upbeat and positive article... several employees from Game have been sending him hate mail. So they've done another article saying that they don't 'want' GAME dead... but it looks like they might end up being dead.

"If only GAME stocked more variety and more PC games (debatable)".

PC gaming is kinda dead and wasn't what it once was IMO.sleep.png

What does MCV have against the Second Market not everybody brand new games all the time and its not because of Digital sales either that places like GAME are going bust.

Simply put the high street is dying because of big Supermarkets and more and more people are buying their products online.

Mobile Construction Vehicle seems to be a bit eltist.

Squenix just sent me an email about preordering KH:3D... They haven't outright shouted about it but...

http://weblet.square-enix-europe.com/epage.php?id=KH3D&lang=en

^Notice the lack of GAME/Gamestation? This could be the first in a series of Squenix notices that they aren't getting stock to GAME.

Jeez, something needs to happen soon! GAME's owners need to either just "hop" into administration or just accept one of the bids... That's how this usually works, right?

You know the rumour about Gamestation selling fully boxed Steel Battalion units for 49p?

It's not a hoax!

Just how stupid can this company be? They're trying to flog brand new games for huge markups which you can get much cheaper just down the road, yet Steel Battalion which is a highly collectable they're selling for under £1?

For those in the US, 49p.... Chocolate/Candy bars are more expensive than this!

But just think, if something as recent as that is going for under 50p. What about all those random Dreamcast things that a lot of stores used to have? Like the Samba Amigo controller sets? Theres got to be tons of rare retro stuff thats just sat in storage going for stupidly low prices right now.

Out of curiosity, has anybody else bought and received any pre-owned games from the website?

I got mine this morning and...they're all brand-new copies, not used! From what I can tell, anyway. They were all sealed! biggrin.png

That happens sometimes. Customers will trade-in a brand new game that comes with a console if they don't want it, I got customers doing that a lot so that they could use the money off a game they really wanted. Also, every so often new games that haven't been selling well and have been sitting around for ages will be sold as pre-owned even though they're technically new.

If a customer was really nice to me or a regular that I got along with well then I would purposefully find the nice new, sealed copies of pre-owned games (if we had any) to give to them.

I can't say i'm that fussed honestly. I mean, it'll be a shame to see the last specific video-game shop disappear, but frankly I've always found them to be really overpriced and even a bit of a rip-off at times. They always seem to sell games at the highest price, even though online they can be found for about £10 cheaper.

I had a feeling this might be the case, but either way it was a nice surprise! Especially the brand-new gold Classic Controller. ^_^

It is always awesome. I can remember some customers being really weirded out by it though lol as if I was trying to trick them or something.

Went into one of my local GAME's about 11am this morning and Twisted Metal still had 'Coming Soon' stickers on every display copy on the shelf. Their website has it in stock, though. There were a fair amount of customers around the shop, but they were all standing around looking puzzled, like they were confused as to why there are no new games. It was kinda sad :-/

I saw Twisted Metal at my local Gamestation on the shelf which I assume is avalible to buy. A week early though?

UPDATE: Turns out today is actually the release date. Yeah I haven't looked up the game much.

Twisted Metal has been out for a long while. But that's in the US though.

The game was only just released here in Europe yesterday (it's just after midnight here now :P ).

GAME store closure letters go out to customers

By Wesley Yin-Poole Published 16 March, 2012

Pre-orders transferred.

GAME has begun sending out letters to its customers notifying them of impending store closures.

The struggling high street shop is reassuring its customers that pre-orders will be transferred to alternative shops: other Gamestation or GAME stores.

One Eurogamer reader sent us in the letter he received notifying him of the closure of the GAME store in Bracknell, Berkshire.

The letter, dated 14th March, brings word of the store closure, set for 24th March. There's a Gamestation nearby, though, and the letter points to it.

The letter is reprinted below, with permission.

It should be noted that these store closures are part of already announced plans made by GAME Group to shut 35 of its shops.

The chain currently has 610 outlets, which it intends to reduce to 550 by Christmas 2013. These latest closures are a part of this.

Earlier this month GAME closed down its Gameplay.co.uk online store, which now redirects all customers to Gamestation.co.uk.

The retailer is in the midst of some well-documented financial difficulties after it lost credit insurance. This has led to many new releases, including Mass Effect 3, not being stocked. Administration is thought to be imminent, but third parties have already expressed interest in a potential buyout.

GAME told Eurogamer it will not publish a list of the 35 stores it intends to close. Instead, it will notify customers directly, as we have seen.

Have you received a letter from GAME? If so, let us know at news@eurogamer.net.

Game taken back to the brink as creditors shun rescue plan

I got one of those ages ago when our local Game closed down leaving us only Gamestation. Sadly though I think we will be seeing more of these. sad.png

lol I got one of those this morning.

Fantastic isn't it? They have money problems, so they decided to send out tens of thousands of letters telling people that their store is closing as apposed to just bunging a list online...

...

Also... today I spotted a 'Shogun 2 chess set' £20. I wasn't sure if it included the game (not that my computer could play it), I didn't buy it... was that a good deal or not?

I decided to take another shopping trip today. Managed to snag a 'Shogun: Total War 2 chess set' for a really nice price.

However I did notice something a little odd... has anyone else noticed that the prices of games in the sale have actually gone up? Some have even doubled in price from this time last week.

I'm assuming because customers have taken all the games with the lowest price already.
