After a successful run in San Diego earlier in the summer, the Sonic Speed Cafe will be setting up shop in a brand new location in Southern California later this month.
SEGA and collaborating restauranteur Andy Nguyen have just announced that the Sonic restaurant will open in San Bernardino County with a new range of menu options and special holiday announcements from November 10 - January 24, 2024.
Alongside the existing 'Sonic Classic Chili Dog', 'Knuckles Sandwich' crispy fried chicken sandwich, golden ring onions and fast fries, the new Sonic Speed Cafe outlet will introduce a 'City Escape BBQ Hot Dog' with bacon and crispy onions, a spicy hot chicken sandwich and a recipe from the 'Sonic the Hedgehog Official Cookbook' called Mac & Chao. We hope that City Escape Hot Dog is served on a GUN truck-shaped tray.
The new restaurant will be situated at 13865 City Center Dr. #3080, Chino Hills, CA 91709, and will have Grand Opening ceremony on November 10 starting at 11am PT, with members of SEGA America in attendance. From there, the pop-up restaurant will be open from 11am until 9pm daily until January 24, 2024. Apparently a "special holiday announcement" will also take place at the venue in late November. So keep your eyes peeled for that.
The first Sonic Speed Cafe opened in San Diego to coincide with SDCC 2023, and was so popular it extended its residency by an extra couple weeks. Alongside Chino Hills, the Sonic restaurant will also be in attendance at Long Beach on November 18-19 for the 'ComplexCon' event, where attendees will also be able to get themselves some exclusive merchandise produced by HYPLAND.
We experienced the original Sonic Speed Cafe back in July and we thought it was pretty neat, so if this new location is near where you live, why not pay a visit and give the menu a try?
UPDATE - 9 Nov 2023: SEGA PR has reached out to us to announce that the opening of this new Sonic Speed Cafe has been postponed to a later date "due to unforeseen construction delays beyond our control". A new date wasn't provided to us, but we'll update you all further if we hear anything new.
