It looks like a whole bunch of fans have been enjoying the Sonic Speed Cafe in San Diego, because the pop-up restaurant has announced that it will not only be extending its limited stay, but it will also host new acoustic performances from the Sonic Symphony team later this month.
The Sonic Speed Cafe opened on July 13, to coincide with San Diego Comic Con 2023, and offered games, merchandise and (more importantly) Sonic-themed food. We thought it was rather good. It was originally planned to stay open until August 20, but the organisers have said this will now be extended until August 31.
The Sonic Symphony acoustic performances will take place on Friday August 18. The first performance will start at 11:30am PT, and there will be mid-afternoon and evening performances to follow. Symphony creator and producer Shota Nakama will be present alongside other select members of the Sonic Symphony crew.
QuoteIn addition to extending its time in San Diego, Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe will host three special scaled-down acoustic performances on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, featuring select members of the Sonic Symphony, including symphony creator and producer Shota Nakama. The first performance will begin at 11:30 a.m., and additional details for the mid-afternoon and evening performances will be available on social media.
Here's some more words from the pop-up restaurant organisers:
QuoteSince the Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe opened on July 13, the response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. Sonic fans have visited from near and far to experience the immersive, nostalgic restaurant, inspiring the SEGA and Secret Sauce Society teams to keep the pop-up open through Aug. 31, 2023. Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe will host merchandise giveaways throughout its extended stay, offering prizes such as Sonic-themed mugs, backpacks and a Sonic Pixel Frame. Fans can find additional details about the giveaways on the cafe’s social media, @sonicspeedcafe.
