But then they'red be bottomeless pitz, and they're evul! :U

yeah, sonic team can't ever win....

Under those platforms are more platforms, and under those platforms are even more platforms.

This continues until you reach the center of the earth.

Quick question. You know the jingle at the end of the gameplay trailer, where does it come from originally? Am I right in thinking it's S4 or did it exist somewhere before then?

Honestly in the video we saw, it just seemed like the guy took the most direct path. All he did was run forward. Unleashed and Colours both had their share of alternate routes, and even some platforming. It's the first stage and Green Hill. Seriously how complicated has Green Hill ever been? Or any first stage in a Sonic game for that matter? One thing to note is that the DLC stages for Unleashed were more like Colours. Unleashed is like Sonic 1, it's the first of a formula, so they will try a few differn't things until they know what the formula is truly capable of.

As for the controls, hopefully they tightened things up. Even Colours, in the 3D sections had a bit too much momentum, in my opinion. It was quite a bit hard to keep him from falling of when he landed on a small platform. But I have faith in Sonic Team. Yay for optimism! :)

It's used as the "New Record" jingle in Sonic Unleashed.

Speaking of falling of platforms, I hope the modern design of this game continues something I liked seeing return in Colors and provides other routes when you fall off a higher one.

Everything's falling into place. The Official trailer including C.Sonic and M.Sonic has built up lots of hype between Fans, Past fans and Gamers outside the fanbase.

With Green Hill in the first gameplay trailer, it's got alot of positive feedback from retro-fans. And once City Escape is officialy shown (Going by Tony Harnell's FB), the Adventue fans which left Sonic who constantly shout out "SA2 WAZ TEH LAST G00D GAM3!" may finally shut up simply from nostalgia.

Sonic's been ever so slowly building back up his mainstream reputation since Unleashed and Sonic may be back in the limelight. For a positive reasons this time.

Oh look, a rock. Its sole purpose is to force me to jump. In a platformer. What a travesty.

In all seriousness, not really seeing the big deal here. It stops the place from becoming one great big flat boostspam surface (or spindash-spam, whichever case it may be), so as long as the flow consists of more than running, I'd say it's doing its job just fine.

Yes I know it's a romhack shut up

The obvious difference being that you're not going a million billion mph and need clairvoyant abilities to see that rock coming. The only reason that purple track is there is just to kill the flow of the game. Its like that really fast part in Chemical Plant Zone, but there's a Casino Night Zone bumper right in the middle that you have to jump.

That's not platforming. That's just stupid.

Blame the gameplay style that encourages you to go so fast you can't do anything else, rather than the rock that would be a simple obstacle in a better game.

Alternatively, it'd be like a part of Green Hill Zone where you're going really fast because you just came out of a tube and you went through a loop and suddenly there's a spring you have to jump.

Only the rock is less of a pain since it doesn't send you in the opposite direction so you have to rebuild momentum to get back to it.

If you're gonna put an obstacle there that could trip you up, there needs to make it more obvious, like the sliding under the wall with the O button.

Which merely reverses the flow, not slows it down while Sonic does a big goofy "lol whoops" animation.

And before everyone gets a screenshot hunting mode, the classic Sonic games have plenty of stupid shit too, doesn't need to be pointed out and that doesn't give it a free pass for Sonic games 20 years later.

@ 1:58 did you REALLY see that big purple thing and immediately know to jump over it your first time watching the video? You're going down a slope and then less than a second later you just tripped over yourself.

I saw before I even went down the slope...its called paying the fuck attention instead being wowed by whats around you...or how about this.....

The environment here seems to be getting tricky....maybe I should NOT BOOST since this is my first time playing the fucking level!

Wow! complains about a purple rock? That's something new

And yeah, you can see it very clear, between so much green, something purple will call your attention

Would you rather he stops completely?

"I'm gonna cover all bases real quick before you guys can prove me wrong." Old or new, every game has problems.

Your right. The rock should've been rainbow. Those bastards, how could they?

I rather it not be there at all.

Yes, but that does excuse the problem, because every game has them? What kind of wacky logic is that?

Wow, straight line zone, that sounds exciting.

It's no excuse, but at the end of the day, the developers are human, we make mistakes and such. Sure, a game that's close to perfection is possible, just look at Galaxy, but even that game has it's flaws.

"I'm gonna post a snarky response because I don't have any real argument here!"

Here's my argument: It's not a big deal, and you can totally see it. How often do you see purple rocks in nature? It sticks out like a sore thumb, and like Voyant says, you can see it from pretty far ahead.

Who cares if the rock is purple? It's a life-style choice! Respect it!

Exactly, the level suffers from Straight Line Syndrome enough already, it needs all the obstacles it can get.

I can sorta get behind this. I mean, first level or not, the level's pretty straightforward in the "Point A to Point B" department.

Yeah, I'm with you on this. It doesn't even pretend not to be Straight Line Zone. Windmill Isle at least hid it.
