The Rayman Topic: Last Game - Rayman Legends

I have gotten every single Golden Lum Trophy, collected all the Creatures and every single Teensy in the whole game. All I have left to do is get the last few costumes in the game and I'm finished. No fucking way I'm gonna try and get 100,000,000 lums but whatever.

I think Origins has better platforming than Legends. While Legends has some cool gimmicks here and there, they place way to much focus on the Murphy stages, and most of the stages in this game jut have you constantly moving foreword. Origins had better gimmicks that made the stages feel a bit more varied to me.

I've beaten the game a few days ago

is there another hidden boss somewhere in the game? When I fought the boss in 'A Cloud of Darkness' I was a bit taken back when I saw the credits roll... since there's no story leading up to it I had no idea that was supposedly the last boss in the game especially when there's another world for me to finish. But to my disappointment Living Dead Party is all music stages in 8-bit. If that is the real final boss then it's pretty underwhelming. :\

I personally feel Legends is the better game overall, with tighter level design and some really cool ideas (20,000 Lums Under The Sea and the music stages get massive win points from me) but yeah, it's definitely a little lacking in some areas. I too was taken aback at how quickly it seemed to be over and that once you've beaten the main "story" (if you can call it that) there's not really a whole lot to keep you invested... and what is there isn't really worth putting in the effort for.

It's definitely a game I'll go back to again and again, but only for short pick up and play sessions. It's by no means a meaty experience even if on paper it is packed with content.

Haven't tried the Rayman Legends yet. Did run and finish Rayman Origins and really liked how the graphics and gameplay turned out (specially the food world ;-) ).

But I do have some doubts about this new game...

If the story mode and gameplay is the exact as the last game, then I doubt It will be any good. After all, this isn't the first time we see's Rayman back in the 2D worlds... :/

Just finished getting all 700 Lums Teensies (facepalm) along with all the creatures...

Golden Teensy? Who didn't see that one coming a mile away?

I'm gonna try and get all the gold Lum trophies just to get the achievement for it, but I'm with the majority in preferring Origins. Legends had some outstanding moments (as MK said, 20,000 Lums and music stages) but it feels like (from a gameplay perspective) Legends should have been released first and then Origins should have been the sequel that improves on its predecessor. The whole package just felt a bit...lazy, really.

Fix'd ;)

Though I do feel I prefer Legends for being a bit more streamlined, I agree Origins was the more fleshed-out package. Which seems a bit ironic not only considering the lengthy delay Legends suffered but also because - correct me if I'm wrong - wasn't Origins originally going to be an episodic digital title?

Also, I found out what the last character you unlock by collecting obscene amounts of lums is:

A naked Rayman, complete with fig leaf

I want to be amused but considering the effort required to get it in the first place... not worth it.

Oops, not sure what happened there! :P

I had a feeling it would be...

naked Rayman

...after unlocking the Globox equivalent. That and I saw that particular skin in a news article before the game was released. Such a wasted opportunity for a reward worthy of such a massive task.

Maybe the final unlockable character would be a Ubisoft-themed costume for Rayman like Ezo, a Rebbid or Jade rather than what it really is. They had Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell Blacklist, AC IV and AC Liberation Costumes as pre-order bonuses, so it would be cool if they had a special Ubi costume as the final unlock.

The very last unlockable being a Rabbid costume would be the greatest "fuck you" ever.

That's true considering what they did to the Rayman series for years (such a shame we never got Rayman 4 :(), but the idea of a surprise Ubisoft character being the big hidden unlock would be really cool.

I really wish it was, to be honest. Or at least

something a bit different. Just having yet another variation on the same basic characters is a real let down. It's the same sort of feeling you get when you've spent hours collecting a million coins in NSMB2 and find out all you've unlocked is a new title screen.

I played the game for hours, and it's really fun and addictive, especially the weekly and daily challenges. So far, I think it's better than Origins, especially music wise. Dem music levels.

BTW, you can't play Kung Foot online? TT_TT

I swear the Extreme Challenges are harder to beat on a basic level than the regular ones are, but once they’re beaten it feels like the Trophy requirements are way WAY more lenient to mistakes on the Extreme Challenges.  I pretty much get a Gold first time on most of them, while I’ll have to work my butt off sometimes for even a Silver on the regular Challenges.

Makes the Lum reward the next day feel a bit dumb considering you only get half as many for regular Challenges as you do for Extreme ones.

I had really really really, High hopes for this game. "Biggest Rayman ever" eh not really but the levels are addicting though. Music stages espically.

Murphy stages, gosh don't go back to this gameplay in the next rayman please, escort mission are no fun and slow paced. although I did liked one murphy stage which was "Hell Breaks Loose" Because the level design was great and it was fast and thrilling and challenging.

Was I the only who thought we were getting tons of different stages for the Daily and weekly challenges? like they could be set from each world, Toad story got a stage. Teensies in trouble got a stage. why not the under water stage? olympus maximus? My favourite challenges are the go as far as you can Challenges. Never ending runs which gets hard as you go on. Land of the livid dead is my favourite.

Multiplayer can sometimes be a pain. Why can they deactivate hitting each other for the whole game except the Hub world.
an on and off switch would of been nice. Glad its off on invaded missions and in the challenge app.

Kung foot was addicting at first and really fast paced and can be really funny. me and bro always screaming playing this game mode.I want to try it out with four people. you can even do it with 5, if you own the wii u version.

unlocking creatures was not really great.

I enjoyed playing as the Barbara re-skins. My favorite is Emma, the second girl you save from the water stage. Mario and Luigi costumes are satisfying. But the last costume was not worth all that Lums. but I didn't really focus getting the last costume, it was just by replaying the stages I liked.

Invasion was one of my favorite modes doing in this game. It is great to see myself in some levels at top ten (Wii U version) It's challenging fun fast paced, liked Most invasion levels. The one with gliding only was no good, yet One of my favorite levels is based on gliding which was "When toads fly."

Music is FANTASTIC! love each bit. least favourite though would be 20,000 lums under the sea. it's unmemorable. Music stages though......Love each one.

Well that's it for my opinion on this game. Lets hope the next Rayman will be Bigger and better and not relying on bringing back older levels.

Edit: Back to origins was okay but if they were going to bring the levels back, don't change it up, especially to make the level much easier! It would of been cool seeing the dance scene in this game.

Edit: put it in hear since it was pretty big.

  • 3 weeks later...

Ah great. Because of Ubisoft's - not the developers - fuck ups in a feeble attempt to make the game shove more units, they're probably not going to allow anymore Rayman games under the claim that they don't sell enough.

What were you expecting? Not only did you disappoint an entire load of fans by delaying the game for no apparent reason, you move your release date inbetween two massive selling franchises, especially GTA, and you've missed a key point where the Wii U desperately needed games and you were going to release a high quality product within that drought.

lol

This is sad news, but so very unsurprising. I don't know why they had to delay the Wii U version after admitting that it was in fact finished. It clearly did them no favours.

Why are they so surprise that it didn't sell well. People have been saying that delaying the game so close to GTA is a very bad idea but they didn't listen.

Regardless of the delay, I'm not sure exactly how many units you guys (or Ubisoft for that matter) expected to sell in just a few weeks.

Why am I not surprised! Ubisoft were idiots for delaying it on Wii U for no fucking reason and then being so surprised by its low sales. Yeah well, shouldn't have sold it in the middle of September when games like GTA V are on the market eh? Sorry, I just feel no remorse for Ubisoft right now. Like Sean said the devs who made it are not at fault here.

I got this on PC and it makes you install Uplay dammit ubisoft this sort of thing is why no one likes you.

I do think Legends is the better game overall actually.  I found Origins on the whole much less memorable, whereas Legends, despite not really introducing any new mechanics, had much more individual character to each level.

I think it was more enjoyably hard though I can't put my finger on why.  But then everyone has their own threshold.  I just remember Origins exhausting me and my choosing to quit each session rather than having to due to other errands.

From what I've seen of Origins vs. what I've played of Legends, Origins seemed to follow the NSMB Wii school of design the basic level was a long rectangle with some stuff to jump on if you want, whereas in origins each level seems to have  functioning objects with a behavior to call their own.  Much like another popular platforming franchise, as the level goes on, a theme is formed by the different ways these objects are utilized.

I find it funny, that apparently the game got most sales through the Wii U version. Even though, you know, the game got delayed because the Wii U wasn't a "big" console for sales?

Look how that ended up.

Good job Ubisoft.

Well if you go by VGChartz the difference between the three main versions isn't even that substantial, so..
