Wow, I went on a day trip to visit an open day at a university and ended up with loads of Sonic stuff!

  • So much Sonic games I forget what they all are (brought among plenty of other Megadrive,Master System, Gamegear and N64 titles!). I'm pretty sure it was Sonic 3D, Sonic Spinball and Sonic 2 GG though.
  • 5 inch Jazwares Classic Sonic (I'm pretty sure that elsewhere in the UK they only do the tiny ones, but I can't entirely confirm. The shop I got it from did specialise in stuff shipped from America though)
  • Two classic Sonic button badges - one of him standing by a ring and another of him doing a spin jump smile.png

Also a couple of weeks ago I got one of those Gatcha head dangler things, but of Dr. Robotnik! It's pretty amusing tongue.png

Which Uni were you looking at, exactly?

Picked up two things of notable interest recently...

160220122779.png

The one on the left is a Sonic Mag: B.D. & Jeux Video!... or the French version of STC.

Anyone who talks to me at all knows that STCs are the main thing I collect, and I've been trying to get a hold of the other European versions for years now... but aside from the odd German issue here and there I've not had any luck. So I was amazed when this one popped up! It's a lot more like it's British counterpart than the German one, although slightly odd in that it has one Sonic strip and three Wonder Boy lol. Should have the third issue on its way soon too, so yay. biggrin.png Really pleased to get my hands on a couple after all these years.

The other one just came in the post this morning and is quite interesting. I've got a collection of Sonic der Comics already, but this one was listed as issue #1005 and the odd numbering caught my attention. So I bought it just because I knew it would annoy me if I didn't find out what it was.

When it turned up this morning, I knew it was quite an strange one as soon as I took it out the envelope. All the other issues I have are about the same size as a Sonic Archives, but this one was almost as big as a regular STC. And after flicking through it, I discovered it was issues #14, #15 and #16 reprinted in the one volume... I had no idea they'd ever made such a thing. What's also interesting is that I spotted another two issues (didn't get them unfortunately) with similar numbering a few weeks ago, so it looks like they re-released the whole series this way.

Oh and... it even came with a cool little bookmark inside.

Had to trek around about a zillion GAME stores to get this last week, but damned if I was going home without it... especially it was the only reason I was getting the game from them in the first place. In the end I got it from the last store that was within a reasonable walking distance. Suppose it shouldn't have been a surprise though, seems to end up being a similar situation pretty much every time they're giving out freebies...

Oh yeah, and I forgot to take a photo at the time, but this turned up a few weeks ago:

I really should pick up some of those statues as they are very cool!

How many foreign language Sonic comics were produced? Anyone know?

Asides from the French and German ones... I know for certain there was Dutch and Italian versions of STC, although I seem to remember hearing that none of them ran for too long. Think the German one lasted the longest and as far as I'm aware, there were only sixteen issues.

Maybe it is just the few Toys R Us near me, but the paint job on these statues are horrible. It took me many tries to find one where the pupils of Sonic's eyes weren't spazzing out in different directions. For fifteen dollars it's pretty decent, but beware purchasing online is what I guess I'm trying to say.

So, let's play a game of spot the difference;

A few months back, I bought the pair on the left. Today, I bought the pair on the right, from the same shop. Almost makes me wonder if SEGA actually stepped in and complained over how downright fugly the original pair was.

I've had the Classic Tails plush and the Knuckles and Egg Pawn figures for a few weeks now but Big Classic Sonic there is what I found in town today. He's so awesome. I'm happy now I completed the 'set' of him, Modern Sonic and Metal Sonic.

Grrr I keep forgetting to get myself organised so I can actually enter free stuff fridays...

About these things though.

sonic-valentines-tails.jpg

I was talking to my girlfriend about them and I said "You know how we always joke that Sonic is a bit of a player, with all those women he's photographed with?" I then went on to say, these Valentine Cards were an early sign of it, afterall, it's not every Valentines Day one needs 32 Valentine cards to send people.

Seriously, even if you sent one a year, you would still be on your first box! Other than Sonic, who needs 32 valentines cards!?

I've got a bunch of plushies I won at a local amusment park. They also have Tails and Super Sonic, I just haven't got them yet. Sadly my inability to go on a single ride without throwing up is keeping me from going back.

Big package came today! Finally have the 20th items I've been after, plus a non-20th Joypolis plush, (the 20th ones seem to have really loosely secured shoe straps.) Along with that came the BOBLBE-E x Aniara Sonic polycarbonate case (a beautiful item,) the Sonic X pose plush (so cute and perfect for photo ops!) and the medium-size Sanei Sonic (just need the small Knuckles now, but not in a rush.)

Just bought this beauty:

$(KGrHqR,!oME63(Z)iV8BO3B9sFgrw~~60_12.JPG

Hasn't arrived yet, but it's an old Japanese keychain from the SegaSonic era (probably 1991-93). The back has the SegaSonic logo engraved into it. Still in the original packaging. I've never seen one before.
