Yeah, mine is a Haswell - forgot to mention that. The Motherboard I chose is LGA 1150. So any good radiators/additional cooling that you guys could personally recommend?

Speaking of that motherboard and CPU, they should be arriving soon (it's out for delivery today). So hopefully I can have my computer built by tomorrow.

A good case has plenty of fans, well, at least mine did.

FUCK INTEL HEATSINKS!

Tried installing it today and it got stuck. It scratched my motherboard (lightly so it should be fine) but it still pissed me off. PUSH PINS ARE NOT A GOOD MECHANISM. ...Buy a third party heatsink that doesn't suck.

The push pins aren't even the worst part.

Have fun with your 90c under full load.

It somehow broke and I ended up throwing it away.

I ended up getting a decent aftermarket solution. http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Hyper-212-RR-212E-20PK-R2/dp/B005O65JXI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386386929&sr=8-1&keywords=CPU+cooler

You know, it's weird, I bought the exact same heatsink for my build, but the mounting bracket was a god-awful mess, and I couldn't for the life of me get it to mount.

I get the feeling it was made with Intel in mind (like every heatsink ever), and AMD was just an "Oh yeah, people actually buy those." afterthought.

..Actually.

It was hell for me too. I thought it was going to be simple but nope.

So a little update on my PC. It's not only basically fully built at this point (I just need to replace the power supply with a newer one, get double the ram, and eventually get a new GPU), but my older brother also gave me his CPU cooler since he got a new/better one.

Plus, I ordered a Optical Disc drive and also an SD card reader, which should both come before Christmas.

So all in all, here's what I got/need:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  (Purchased For $289.99)

Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Pro3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (Purchased For $94.99)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory  (Purchased For $63.74)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory  ($74.98 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Western Digital Scorpio Black 250GB 2.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  (Purchased For $0.00)

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB Video Card  (Purchased For $0.00)

(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

I'll probably also get a liquid cooler/radiator to keep the PC even cooler so I can start overclocking. If you're wondering, I idle at around 28-32 and so far max load goes up to 60 at most. Not as great as my brother was getting (he says the highest he saw was 48), but there's several reasons that could be the case. For one thing, I'll have to check temps again in 24 hours due to thermal paste setting fully in about that time. Another thing is that the mount on the Cooler Master Hyper 212 seems to be kinda shitty, so I might need to tighten the screws more to keep it more tightly in place, but I don't wanna risk cracking my CPU. I also might have too much/too little thermal paste.

60c is great compared to what you could have ended up with. Intel sets their max temps really high, I had to break 80 for my shitty laptop to burn 2 threads.

DELL Monitor - Crazy deal

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-ST2421L-24-Class-Widescreen-LED-Monitor-/231125200241?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item35d022ad71

$109.99 vs $249.99 MSRP. Just ordered one. I've been using my old monitor that I got 5 years ago. I have some scratches and dead pixels on it. I could use a new monitor with a higher resolution and screen size for this PC.

No Tax, Free Shipping, and Low Price. I'd grab it if you don't have a monitor. I'd recommend DELL for their monitors as they push quality control unlike other monitor vendors.

Just some Battlefield 4 screens running off my PC. Loving it so far. I'm able to play the game on Ultra at around 50-60fps. Not bad. I was thinking I would be stuck on Mid with lower framerates on High with my setup but I guess not. May as well post my gaming setup.

Radeon HD 7790 ($59.99 - Got it on sale for $80 - $20 rebate = $59.99 BF).

Intel Core i5 4570 ($179.99 - Got it on sale on Black Friday)

8GB Ram ($49.99)

Keep in mind my monitor is a bit old and the resolution is stuck on a small 1440x900 resolution. The lower resolution plays a part in allowing higher graphical settings. I'll be able to test out 1080p when my new monitor comes.

Two monitors upgrade! I grabbed a 24 inch Dell 1080p monitor for $109.99 when it was on sale. The one on the left is an odd resolution below 900p and has a growing amount of dead pixels. I also accidentally gave it a scratch when I was retooling my PC. Thankfully, I found a good deal on a decent monitor to replace my main monitor. I'm now using the old one as a second monitor.

Here's some Tomb Raider screens. I love the game, it's really good!

On the PC deals topic, there is a very good discount on the Samsung Evo SSD series.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Samsung-840-EVO-MZ-7TE250BW-250GB-2-5-Internal-Solid-State-Drive/360828851187?customid=WhM1bHWWEeOYaCZyJe4kMgqxn9_SKQu3_0_0_0&pub=5574652453&afepn=5337259887&campid=5337259887&pt=US_Solid_State_Drives&hash=item54031353f3&afepn=5337259887

$140 for a 250GB. Not bad, especially with the fact the Samsung SSDs are the fastest and have a premium. A MSRP priced 120GB would be $89.99. For $50 more, you get 130GB+ more storage.

yooooo

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133211

this case is normally $140

ridiculous price for a case, but it's on sale for $60 off

but that's not all, it also has a $30 rebate on top of that.

So with all that factoring in, this $140 dollar case is $50 till the 12th.

It has:

  • HDD hotswap bay for both 3.5 and 2.5
  • a 3.5 drive bay for things like a card reader drive or a fan controller
  • a useless window
  • it looks cool
  • flappy things
  • gives handjobs if you stare at it long enough (rumored)

go get one now

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed an increase in the prices of GPUs, specifically those manufactured by AMD? The card that I currently own has increased by around 35% in price since I purchased it.

Bitcoin mining.

Basically, by buying these cards you can make money mining bitcoins. These cards are selling a lot faster now thanks to the Bitcoin craze. It was slow at first, but a lot of people are catching on now (late). It's annoying because I was considering purchasing a 7850 on sale instead of a 7790. Minutes after the 7850 went on discount, it sold out.

They'll probably go down after a while.

Very annoying indeed: I was considering snagging a second 7970, only to discover it was now running at a completely unreasonable $500. Like, what? For not too terribly much more, I probably could've landed a very decent 680 around the time I purchased the last card.

I'm trying to decide on a new monitor, I've been running the one I am now for the past 6 years or more.  In particular, I was looking into a 1440p panel, but there'd be no way I could manage with a single 7970, I was assuming. Stupid bitcoins.

I'm pretty sure the 120Hz refresh rate would be better, but I don't know the difference between TN and IPS

NFS:Rivals is only $13 for a PC Physical Copy (probably comes with digital origin key).

Be warned - The PC version is locked to 30fps.
