All-Stars Racing Transformed: The Track Roster Thread

SOL, are we going to see a snow level in some form?

Funny you should ask...

"[For peaceful scenery] we wanted forest, so we went with Shinobi. For Billy Hatcher, we picked an ice level. For a lava level, we had Golden Axe."

http://www.digitalsp...d-licences.html

No Daytona track.

"Daytona is probably my favourite game of Sega's roster, but it didn't really fit with this because, what do we do for flying or boating? For Outrun there's beach, there's water, so you know what, maybe we could that?

EDIT:

Oh, and no Shenmue track.

"We didn't want a dock - if we wanted a dock then Shenmue could have gone on the list! We did want an urban area, but we decided to go for Jet Set Radio because it was a lot more stylised and it fit better with our game, to be honest."

Apparently Roulette Road is the last retro track.

Sumo confirmed that a few tracks from the original Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing game will return, tweaked for your transforming pleasure. Shibuya Downtown and Roulette Road are two such stages.

Thoughts?

A Casino level is pretty welcomed, it is maybe one of the key locations. I now think that the Billy Hatcher snowy one will be entirely new, and I would have preferred seeing the opposite: a new casino one (with Casino Night theme) and Rampart Road as returning

Just bear in mind that we don't *need* an excuse. We don't have to make excuses for our, nor SEGA for their, decisions.

We make them for a whole raft of reasons which you are not party to...

...and it's in. smile.png

Sonic fans *may* be fed up with the checker pattern but they can't deny it's Sonic looking. If you put it on the box on the shelf, people will know what they are looking at from across the store. Even Grandmas buying for their Grand-kids xmas prezzie know what they're getting if it has the checker pattern.

...and there it is. Really, the nub of it is that it's synonymous with the Blue Hedgehog.

I dunno why the Sonic fans don't understand that keeping a tradition going is pretty important in the world...

Why not using Palmtree Panic Zone then, just for the sake of not being always the same?

..But there are other stages with checker patterned rock outside of Seaside Hill. *shrugs* Whatever. I'm not really complaining about that 'cause ultimately I don't care that much.

I will look forward to racing as Knuckles on a Sky Sanctuary track tho'. Even if I don't really agree with its inclusion I'm not gonna say it's not my favorite Sonic stage ever all of a sudden.

I can't fucking wait to race on that stage. Blah blah blah, Hydrocity, blah blah Ice Cap. Don't care. Sky Sanctuary is the shit. I said the same thing when the Generations level list got leaked. Sorry.

Again... I don't need to make excuses. However, if it's the same looking, then why would it matter either-way anyway?

Is it just the name you're unhappy with?

Because at least we're getting a stage that hasn't been milked to death? Any of the checkered zones really besides this and green hill would have been a somewhat breath of fresh air.

Not asking for excuses just pointing out that there are other stages with checker patterned rock outside of Seaside Hill like Chooch said.

And no, I'm just not happy with having the same stage always represented, while they may look the same in paper, they are very different.

In no way I'm saying that the game is ruined thanks to Seaside Hill, just that I'm tired of the same stage representing the Sonic series.

Wait... Another returning retro track is a sonic track again? Wow man ok now it's getting a little bit too much. I understood that sonic would get the most representation with there also being the most character picks from the franchise. But are there now actually 2 returning ones?(from the 4)

You guys just want Hydrocity and Ice Cap. Ya'll have been saying the same thing since the Generations level list got leaked.

Admit it. XP

Moving on....I really don't get the logic from a few of you. "Starlight Carnival isn't THAT good of a choice cause it's recent. Therefor somewhat lazy." WHAT. Nevermind the fact that this level by many is considered one of the more original unique stages in the series. Or that the stage was highly demanded in Generations by many sonic fans. Its recent, so shouldn't have been used.

I too have to admit that Sonic taking up 2 of the 4 returning tracks is disappointing.

Sky Chase and Wing Fortress are, of course, not better designed than Sky Sanctuary, I agree with all my heart, but I questioned the inclusion of it because we already saw it last year and by looking at the background screen, it's all ripped material from Gens. Of course it will be awesome to race and fly at this place, but there are better and fresh choices, especially if they wanted to pick a level from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Tell me about: Flying Battery? But let's wait, I hope Sumo add some nice cameos on it *POINTS MECHA SONIC*.

Oh, no Daytona or Shemnue... my heart. It hurts...

Another track returning from Heroes? Richard Jacques, you better be remixing Casino Night, Carnival Night or even Spring Yard :DD

Oh wait... Maybe Triangles *would* be better. After all.

(Except it's debatable whether it's as iconic as squares)

Squares, triangles. schmiangles...

It sometimes feels like you guys want to argue for arguments sake.

while i've been cool with most of the things, this particular one just comes off fucking stupid. You have 4 allready made tracks and from those you pick 50% sonic stages as well. Why would they think that's a great idea? Like.... Wtf

Edit: And to think the reveals would only get better. What a dissapointment Sumo. Ill bet you have been working hard but for some reason I expected you guys would go for perfect with this one instead of making silly decisions similar to sonicteam. Tbh I dont know if i should even care anymore. Thanks for dropping the ball ultimatly

Well a time travel gimmick mixed in a checkered stage does sound more interesting then another Seaside hill comeback....:/

They wanted the casino theme for variety I guess? Starlight Carnival may have some elements, but the other tracks don't offer much to the table either, IMO.

So Rex, why instead of pick an actual level from Sonic, why not create something that represents it world? A brand new level. You know, like S0L said, old temples, grass and tropical feeling.

Not talking about strange rock designs, the stage contents.

Like racing through the green fields, passing through the giant loopdeeloop to be launched into a flying zone, flying through a waterfall to enter a water zone inside a cave, using the time travel mechanic, etc.

You know, stuff like this and you still have the all mighty checker patterned rock stage.

i thought you guys are meant to be SEGA buffs? i'm sorry you must be blind if you can't see why Seaside Hill's inclusion is making the majority of us sour after it being in winter olympics, the previous racer, London Olympics and Generations last year.

its not about a bunch of squares and being iconic, it's about re-imagining a track we haven't already seen in HD, like Palm Tree Panic, Emerald Hill etc. this is frustrating for Sonic fans especially.
