Winter Olympics will be in Sochi, which is in Russia.

That's my only guess as to why Russian would be the choice of exotic language.

Now how that pertains to this coming DLC I've no idea. Unless there's some other SEGA game that involves Russia?

Closest guess would be Company of Heroes, given that it has the Soviet theme and the Russian Winter is notorious for destroying invading armies (hence "Winter is soon" in Russian actually is kind of menacing). But I doubt that would be involved in a DLC in any way, shape or form.

General Winter is a metaphor for the incredibly cold winters that happen in Russia.

 

In the past, Napolion and Hitler have tried to conquer Russia, however their armies have either been defeated or heavilly weakened due to the fact that when the Russian winter hints, it either kills off the enemy forces, or severely drains their resources.

 

Hence the name 'General Winter'...

 

And that is our Russian trivia for today.

Yeah. It's not exactly bad or anything. Just... meh.

 

Also, this must have had a pretty quick turn around from concept to final release. SEGA only acquired Relic in January!

I just have to say why to all of this. Why? Honestly, Sega and Sumo both knew what people were hoping for when it came to DLC. Why then, would they throw all those great ideas in the trash and instead give everyone....this guy? Someone, mind you, that barely anyone actually knows?

I hope he comes to all consoles. He is people's DLC, for all to share!

 

Still, this makes me wish they went with Welkin Gunther even more. He's got a tank, and he's from a really great SEGA game.
