If they were smart, they would just sell us a "best of the originals" DLC level pack.

Then they can say they put out that much more DLC & make money off of crap they've already done.......

I wouldn't mind just a few tracks from the first game, just not ALL of them. Maybe some to form a "Retro" cup like in Mario Kart.

Speaking of cups, how about online Grand Prix? I think if anything ASR1 had missing was depth in it's online mode. It just needs a few more option to do with. Online Grand Prix's, Team Modes who knows. Just something more than just single races will do me fine.

Just had Another character idea:

Red from Gunstar Heroes. He can drive the Mine Cart from the Underground level.

Having the tracks from the first game can only bring it down in the eyes of the general public and media.

Even if it were to have twice as much new content as it does old content, it'll be considered a full-price update akin to Capcom's fighting game updates. Plus, as a huge fan of the original I'd love to still be able to play it on its own merits.

Less is more to a lot of people.

But if less = more. And more = more, then Less + more = double more, therefore more + more = even more.

I will admit I wouldn't mind if Death Egg was brought back... just because I still refuse to pay like £4 for it. You can buy whole games for that.

Bland and forgettable?

Wouldn't a dolphin on a race track in-of-itself be exciting and original?

Not really, no. Wow, a generic dolphin on a vehicle of some description. Who cares? In a game full of cartoon animals, zombie couples, lego-men, sexy space reporters in miniskirts, karate experts in sports cars and motorcycles, living spaceships and mad scientists. I guarantee all the casuals wouldn't give a "real dolphin" a second glance. There are much more eye-catching characters than a dolphin that doesn't even have anything even remotely unique about his appearance apart from a few stars on his forehead. The fact that he's the only dolphin in a cast of non-dolphins is completely moot. Furthermore he has no potential to emote or do anything, as he would literally be a fish out of water. I'm positive that Sumo would agree with me on this as they prefer characters that are much more expressive, be it in a cartoony or realistic manner. Ecco falls into neither category; his personality is completely nonexistent in his games, giving the designers of ASR2 literally nothing to work off of. I don't see them attempting to craft a personality for him from scratch. The only way I could see him working in this game is if they were to shoehorn in some cartoonish, more expressive version of Ecco and try to pass it off as the actual character. However, if you're willing to accept such an outlandish departure from what Ecco actually is, then why even bother saying you're a fan of the character at all?

I'm all for him appearing in a Ristar-esque cameo, perhaps, but I don't see him being playable at all.

I dunno, seeing a dolphin swim on air (Or swim in a water bubble or something) would crazy enough to get me to "Lolwut". It would also get me hyped, because that's so ridiculous it's awesome.

Ok we get it... you don't like Ecco...

So anyone else think Ecco would fit in the game? I can just see him, doing jumps and flips, as he celebrates crossing the line... or using his Ecco location as an All Star move, destroy the other racers with his psychic blast! Afterall, he destroyed an alien race using that! Kart racers? Bah they're nothing compared to the might of Ecco!

I've been saying I want him in since the first ASR was announced, where people shot me down for me wanting him driving in a fish bowl on wheels "not taking the character seriously"

Really dude? Is this a joke?

You see, that little paragraph right there is what I like to refer to as thinking inside of a box. You are applying no imagination to the situation, and for whatever reason you are eliminating the idea that anyone else could figure out something that can work.

Allow me to do just that for you.

First off, realistic or not, a Dolphin would fit onto a racetrack pretty well when the rest of the cast runs the gambit from space mice to whatever in the world Opa-Opa is supposed to be. Its wild, outlandish and unexpected. A Dolphin would be perfect. There is no constant style that mandates who fits in and who doesn't. Furthermore, you seem to be forgetting that the original All-Stars Racing has already featured quite a few "realistic" characters, so your objection to Ecco on those grounds inevitably falls on deaf ears. That didn't stop Sumo from choosing characters before and it won't get in the way now.

Then we can move onto the kart itself. If you don't want a generic Barnacle-Buggy or Whale-Mobile, you could easily come up with something that adds a little distinctive flair. How about a Submarine Go-Kart? One of those fancy ones with the glass bubble fronts. Fill it with water, crack open the top so Ecco can jump for joy when he's happy and slap some wheels on that bad boy. That right there would be both original and immensely enduring. You can even put a little propeller on the back, it'd be sweet.

You don't even have to stop there. Anyone who's played Ecco games from start to finish knows full well that the series is tied in with quite a bit of Alien encounters. Sumo could use that to their advantage and let our Dolphin hero pilot a God-Dang UFO. If a Dolphin racing in a kart isn't enough to perk the interest of the average gamer, you can't honestly tell me that a Dolphin in a flying Saucer wouldn't garnish some form of attention. Better yet, it would all be 100% authentic to Ecco's lure.

And your placing far to much emphasis on emotions. Its not like the game features some deep story mode. All a racer has to do is jump out of the car and scream for joy every now and then in order to be effective, and we all know a Dolphin is well capable of doing just that. Ecco will give you a backflip when he's happy, and a sad squawk when he's sad. Do you need more than that?

Open your mind up dude. If Sumo could work with characters like Big, Bonanza Bro's and the like, I think they can do some pretty special things with a Time-Traveling Dolphin with access to alien tech.

You just gotta be creative.

I remember people saying Ecco could just fly. I'd prefer him being in some sort of vehicle, though.

let's just try to be realistic about the potential character that will appear in the game, aside from personal wishes

first of all, I honestly think SEGA will give us at least 2 more Sonic characters, and maybe one more DLC, due to Sonic folks' popularity.

3 Chaotix in the same vehicle is the most original choice. A way to include 3 characters in a single shot, and heavily requested from fans. A side car would be really cool, as well as an All Star move based on their team attack in Sonic Heroes.

the second and third character could be Blaze/Silver/Cream/Rouge, based on popularity and lack of females characters

about other SEGA dudes I give NiGHTS, Ristar and Toejam & Earl for sure (we know why)

now that's the difficult part.

For first I talk about recent SEGA characters, which would definitely be a nice inclusion in the cast. Some recent characters are:

Bayonetta, Sam Gideon, Jack Cayman, Jiro Musashi, Raphael

I think Bayonetta is the most resonable, due to her appereance in Anarchy Reigns, and beeing female too. She already has a vehicle (the bike and possibly Enzo's car) so that's good.

Another character could be Jiro Musashi. That is mostly my wish, but adding him would also mean a Shinobi rep which is essentially a classic game rep. So a nice classic+new

now let's talk about POSSIBLE choices

Gilius: Golden Axe beeing very important, his presence in SSTennis and his presence in ASR prototype

Vyse: if Skies of Arcadia HD is true, I don't see a reason why not to include the main character, or maybe paired with the 2 girls, to promote the game even more

A Phantasy Star character: PS is one of the most profitable SEGA franchise of all time, and PSO2 is near release too, so this is a possible choice

then an addition of possible "obscure" character like Opa-Opa for the original ASR

Hornet: Daytona is very popular, and it is now on XBL too. Heavily requested

Ecco: another original (maybe the most one) character which is heavily requested

Segata Sanshiro: very very very requested (even if I don't mind him)

Vectorman: also very requested and original

so, my choices out of it?

Blaze

Chaotix

Bayonetta

Jiro Musashi

NiGHTS

Ristar

Toejam & Earl

Gilius

Vyse & Aika & Fina

Ecco

pre order DLC: Hornet

DLC: Silver, Arle & Carbuncle, Jack Cayman, a PSO2 character

Good list, but I think we'll see Silver over Blaze The Cat on the actual game.

I think realistically speaking we'll see something like.

Silver The Hedgehog.

The Chaotix.

Gilius.

Bayonetta.

NiGHTS.

Ristar.

Toejam & Earl.

Vectorman.

Axel & Blaze.

Vyse, Aika & Fina.

Altered Beast.

Shinobi.

Pre-Order: "Classic" Sonic.

DLC:

Cream & Cheese, Kid Chameleon, Sketch Turner.

12 new characters, and 4 DLC.

Hey, how about no preorder DLC? 'Hate that.

I only hate it if it's pre-order only and it doesn't come to XBL or PSN.

I hate it either way.

Forklift Ryo was on the first, so I would think there will be some sort of pre order DLC for the game.

Not yet, unfortunately. We're gonna have to keep on waiting for an indefinite amount of time. No press has talked about it to a point where we'll know when we'll get a trailer or even a press release.

I hope it's soon though, because I would love to see a trailer.

I would want the outside of the ARK, Wave Ocean, Station Square (does it help that I live near Station Square PA?), Hydro City, and Stardust Speedway as tracks.

Well if DLC is in mind in near future, I would like to see it, but maybe at least more than 1 DLC Playable.. Maybe i would like to see more than 10 Playables (maybe 11 or 12 is fine).

Ristar and Nights are possible playables, but i majorly want Ristar as a playable more...

Toejam and Earl, i would really wanna see again. :) But i hope the creator reaches in at this point for ASR2.

Vyse, hopefully to be their last Dreamcast Character for the All-Stars series. But to be a nice addtion...

Gilius, a Awesome Character for it to return... hopefully he does return at the point.

Arle and Carbunkle, Well to at least to have a rep for Puyo Puyo (or Puyo Pop Fever!).

Jiro Mushuai (or) Joe Mushuai, could be a nice add in for the game...

Ecco, maybe as whacky for Opa-Opa in ASR1, Ecco should be a nice, and silly add-in for the series.

Bayonetta, maybe for the heck.. Because as it is a M rated game. Well... as long as it tones it down a bit like house of the dead did for SST, and of course ASR1.

Sir Pepper (or) Segata Sanshiro, Well at least a Saturn Character to be in it. If Segata Sanshiro was in it, i bet he would be harder than Alex Kidd. 0_0 and man, it could surprise me a bit..

Blaze, well.. it would be nice to see as a playable...

The Chaotix (or) Silver, Well i cant say for sure. But still, it could be fine.

Are you even trying to imagine Ecco as a racer? Now take a step back and look at some of the evidence provided by you from over the course of the thread, Ecco is a real dolphin and potentially he could be driving inside a giant fish bowl. Now would it be a tad too farfetch'd to believe that Ecco could pull off a few tricks of his own, like any trained real dolphin? Try to imagine him twirling around in the water, splashing out of his bowl while clapping his fins, posing as he flops around in the water/splashes into the air, drawing a cute little heart on the side of his bowl for his competitors/the player, or even jumping through a hoop or two while a tank diver or alien holds it up. Then even take into consideration how the tank itself would react to the various twists and turns that go along with the tracks, with pebbles, toys, and what not getting tossed and shifted around to Ecco's dismay as he tries to stay in the race, couldn't that provide for something a bit interesting? Not to mention several of these things could potentially be exaggerated in a cartoonish matter to give him a bit more flare

Also, on the matter of giving the character a bit more personality, take a look at Opa-Opa. If I remember right, I don't think that he ever displayed as much character as he did while acting as a playable character in ASR. Yet I honestly haven't seen many complaints about him, and I highly doubt that it would be any different if Ecco decided to get a bit more playful while racing along side the others.

And Dolphins aren't fish, so him being a "literal" fish out of water is a bit far from accurate

we discussed about tracks some time ago, but which Sonic courses would u like to see?

From the rumors we can put

Green Hill

Casino Night

Chemical Plant

which are great choices to me (CN and CP have a wonderful music too)

but then I'd like to see some new stuff

Ice cap

Flying Battery (just for that music)

Emerald Coast

Pumpkin Hill

Ocean Palace (returning)

Spogonia

Sweet Mountain
