You can barely see this at the end of the Trailer

Well, I guess that MGS5 rumor was true back at Comic-con.

Kojima, how DARE you announce MGS5 without telling us it's MGS5.

Making us actually work for it.

i love you so much

Wait, what's gonna happen to Ground Zeroes and Rising? Are those being forgotten about?

Rising is being made by Platinum Games, and is already coming out in Feburary.

Ground Zeroes is still being made as well, we'll probably hear more about that next year around E3. I wouldn't be surprised if it came out late 2013.

Yeah, I know that. I was more trying to say, who's gonna remember them with a big Metal Gear title like MGS5 announced?

You kidding right? MGS5 will probably never surface till 2015 at least, do you know how long it took them to make MGS4 lol?

Gene, Meme, Scene, Sense, Peace... I'm already trying to speculate on what MGS5's Existential Theme of the Week might be.

Pain perhaps?

One of the things that became immidetly apparent after watching the trailer for the second time is that the protagonist seems to have no way to defend himself. His enemy's appear to be unstoppable killing machines, yet he has trouble moving. He is also blindfolded and appears to have someone escorting him. In the other Metal Gear games, Snake,Raiden, and Big Boss have always had a way to defend themselves when starting out, yet this guy appears to not be able to throw a small punch.

It's very interesting how they did this.

I believe its a sequel bases on GZ, just my 25cent over it, its MGS5, and yet its still with Big Boss for main character.

I love Kojima. He is so cool with his cryptic reveals. Definitely looks like Big Boss in the trailer. Big Boss never lost his left arm, but Liquid did......although he is dead! Or is he............no he's definitely dead.

So what do we reckon, MGS5 for PS3 & Xbox late 2013, and then Ground Zeros for next gen consoles in 2017/2018?

Apparently the game wasn't listed under Spike's announced video games, so many are speculating it to be a viral teaser for Ground Zeros.

Edit: Now someone made a valid point - Ground Zeros is plural, and the trailer said from Fox, two were born. This could mean Ground Zeros is actually a code name for two upcoming MGS game.

Edit 2: Or..

The troops attacking the hospital are the burned man's troops. They have same exact gear. Gloves, arm brace, and modded MP5s with a flashlight, etc.

The burned man is clearly an antagonistic figure, so he wouldn't be helping BB at all.

>My take:

BB loses his arm, assuming that's not a hallucination, after what transpires in the GZ trailer.

The setup is classic Metal Gear. An infiltration mission where you have to rescue a hostage, but everything goes wrong, you eventually get captured and have to escape.

The burned man, BM, knows BB is coming in the GZ trailer:

"Give my regards to your Boss"

"The Trojan Horse is set"

Obviously BB walks into a trap, set by the BM. What we see in the Phantom Pain trailer is BB recovering from what transpired in Cuba.

>Unanswered Questions:

When the Phantom Pain's trailer starts BB is on a breathing apparatus, and is told he was in a coma for some time. Is it possible that this is when "Les Enfants Terribles" takes place? That time being 1972. Is it possible that the coma is a result of what transpired in MG? and that his new body resembles its past self instead of being an old man?

Why is BB in a British/Colony hospital? Especially if what transpired in GZ was in Cuba? Was he taken by Zero and placed under protection? (remember, Zero loves BB, even though they are constantly at odds. BB is also taken to a lot of Patriot facilities over they years.) Wouldn't BB be at Mother Base?

I think Psycho Mantis will be a character in this game. It being Psycho Mantis as a kid certain fits the time frame. Plus the whole place catching on fire links it to Mantis as well. Remember that he did burn down his village with his telekinetic abilities.

So is MGS 5 to be honest, everything but Rising is a prequel.

Yep pretty much.

In terms of the time line, it goes:

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes?

Metal Gear

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake

Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Ground Zeroes looks to be set near Peace Walkers, or actually before it because this is before Fox Hound became the main thing, there was just Big Boss/Snake and i'm guessing that's his story. MGS5 looks like it may be even further back... fucking prequels.

I know I'm in the minority but I prefer The Twin Snakes to the original MGS1.

It has a lot to do with control. I find the original MGS1 extreamly clunky. I just find TTS to control better. I will agree that the game has issues, such as the easy boss fights. The frame rate, Jennifer Hale and Paul Eiding's weaker proformances, and the lack of enclosure and encounter music.

But I enjoyed the cutscenes, Rob Paulson as Gray Fox, and most of the music. I know the game isn't liked by much of the Metal Gear fandom, and I know I'm in the very small minority, but I enjoyed it more then the original MGS1.

(PS: a discussion Neogaf in the Phantom pain thread prompted this)
