First look at Sky Sanctuary

Seeing Hydrocity re-imagined in Generations would've been awesome. I have fond memories of that stage from childhood mostly because I won a score challenge on the Sega bus back when I was a kid & I still have the Sega bus/Sonic t-shirt to this day! Good times! smile.png

I really don't care too much, particularly since I have yet to get SA1 and as such I can't fairly compare. I do however love Ice Cap Zone. Maybe they could do a compromise, with one of the acts based on the S3 version, and the other based on the SA1 version. Plus, even if the original version was kinda boring, it may not be so because it is being remade, meaning it will have more stuff (like the cave in modern Green Hill Zone.)

Ice Cap zone, the one zone from the Genesis Sonics I will never understand all the music. It's third only to Launch Base Zone and Sandopolis Zone as the worst zone in Sonic 3 and Knuckles

I love Ice Cap zone as a stage. It has a distinct above-ground and under-ground, four unique gimmicks not seen in any other zones in the game, a great aesthetic, and a cool though over rated song. It's certainly the most inventive of all the icy Sonic stages. However, as I've said before, I'm not exactly beating my head against the wall because it wasn't included in Generations.

I'll be honest with you, I would rather have had Cool Edge Day remade for Generations than Ice Cap Zone...

It at least had an ice-related gimmick, and the icy-surfaces were at least slippery. Plus, it was a gorgeous looking stage.

That was back then, though. If Ice Cap were to be in Generations, slippery surfaces would almost be a definite. Ice Cap has iconic, nostalgic-filled attributes. Cool Edge doesn't nearly as much. I think it'd be silly to take Cool Edge over it if you had a clear choice between the two. Of course, that's without taking other levels into account.

At the age of 7, Bombing the hill on the snowboard to the awesome Ice Cap music after spending what felt as a lifetime at the barrel + annoying circusmusic was among the coolest things ever, with Sonic 3 being one of the hottest games on the market. Seeing Sonic land on a snowboard, just flying down the mountain and hearing the music...it was just...AMAZING. Belive me.

Agreed. Ice Cap is a hell of a lot more atmospheric than any other ice level in Sonic. The dark, crystalline caves, glowing orbs and quirky ice sculptures would have looked incredible in HD. It also had a great enemy in the Penguinator. Like LE said, it had many unique gimmicks as well. I personally disliked the gimmicks in Cool Edge. The slippery surfaces are just annoying and the bobsled segments are poorly executed. The visuals are less captivating in general for me because it is more grounded in realism.

All I can think about now are the last three levels to be officially revealed, especially their Classic iterations. The more I'm shown the more greedy I get. :X

Oh, there are palm trees and plants in Sky Sanctuary.

Green Hill 3.0.

Stop disappointing me, SEGA. Baw. And all that jazz.

Silly, everyone knows that Palm trees are an important part of Sonic's history, I mean I hope that you're not surprised when you find a few in

Crisis City

I would Crap my pants from laughing if in sky sanctuary they included a island that looked like this:

rune_factory_wii.jpg Seeing how the whale is a big notable thing from the sonic series I would just laugh.

Anyhow, I'm still kinda upset some of the level selections, at least for the console version. Not that I don't love the visuals, but when you get down to it, it's all just green levels and city levels. True, that may be a bit less than generous for Crisis City, Chemical Plant and Sky Sanctuary; if Sonic 06 has to have a level, then that's the right one. And Chemical Plant, Sky Sanctuary, Green Hill and City Escape, deserve a spot regardless of anything. But after Green Hill Zone, there's still Emerald Coast, Seaside Hill and Planet Wisp. What the fuck do we need FOUR green levels for? Heroes has a ton of memorable levels. What about Bingo Highway or Hang Castle or even Final Fortress? I mean, why choose the level that's already a throwback in itself? I realize that Seaside Hill is probably the one people remember the most, but that niche has already been filled! And Rooftop Run. Not to disrespect it, but as far as I'm concerned it's just a Mediterranean City Escape. Really, if you're not gonna have Ice Cap at least use the opportunity for Cool Edge.

But eh, whatever. I suppose the subtitles make them diverse enough, but it doesn't feel right that there isn't at least a lava, ice, desert, canyon or even a freakin' casino/theme park level somewhere in there. And no, Crisis City isn't a lava level. It's a FIRE level. Mnyeh.

1. Emerald Coast isn't in the Console Version. It's a 3DS exclusive

2. Planet Wisp is more of the factory theme, since Eggman was going to set up giant plants to harvest all the Wisps.

In fact in Sonic Colors, most of the time, what you're running on and through is factories under construction.

Seaside Hill is mostly ocean, beach and ruins also. It's a green level by name, and a "coastal ruins" level by design. There's even some underwater bits there...

Planet Wisp can barely be compared to Green Hill, due to it's nature of being more of a prairie than a tropical setting. The kind of flora is very different and then there's the fact that there's a giant orange construction site in the middle.

About Emerald Coast- I realized that but forgot to take it out before I posted. tongue.png

But even if Seaside Hill is more of an ocean palace, it's still just the same basic aesthetics of Green Hill and Sky Sanctuary merged and on water. Even if its different, there are still more unique aesthetics from Heroes.

Eew ew ew ew ew! BLASPHEMY AND TREASON I SAY!

Only cause Cool Edge is my most hated Unleashed stage by a wide margin.

1.Emerald Coast is a beach theme stage, not to be confused with the Hill stages.

2.If your blind and haven't noticed the screenshots or footage of Seaside Hill, you'd know that the focused is more on the Ruins part, with some Hydrocity elements thrown in, in other words it's more Ocean Palace.

3.Planet Wisp is a plains/field setting fused with lot's factory elements.

Sky Sanctuary itself is a Sky Ruins theme, similar to Sky Babylon in Rush Adventure.
