For those keeping up with the multiverse misadventures of Sonic and his alternate reality friends, the third season is now available for streaming on Netflix.
From its initial announcement nearly three years ago, to its unusual preview event, Sonic Prime launched into quick popularity. With a partnership across SEGA, animation company Wildbrain, writing team Man of Action, and of course Netflix, the 24-episode (or 23-episode with a double-length premiere) series spanned just over a year of releases. In that time, the series saw multiple waves of toy releases (including some very weird ones), collaborations with existing Sonic mobile titles, and even its own Sonic Dash spin-off version. It saw yet another casting of voices for Sonic and friends, including the return of Sonic Underground's Brian Drummond. And it even saw its way into the 137th most watched season of content on Netflix in its first half-year.
While the exact future of Sonic animation is unknown, SEGA's focus on transmedia success should leave no doubt that Sonic in animation has a future.
But for now, it's time to send off the shatterverse.
