  • Trailer, Further Details For Sonic Toys Party Leaked [U]

    It seems Sonic's next mobile title will see toys in a race to the finish.

    Really feels like we can't go a few weeks without some sort of leak anymore. This latest leak involves the long-rumored Sonic Fall Guys-alike, Sonic Toy Racers, a multiplayer Sonic game being made for mobile devices. Sonic Youtuber "The Sonic Show" was able to get their hands on a Japanese trailer of the game and upload it, finally giving us our first proper look at it.

    The game was initially leaked by Midori, who stated that a "Fall Guys" Sonic game would be debuting this summer on iOS and Android. Further details leaked via Tails Channel and Inside Gaming, which confirmed that the game would have 32 players competing with each other as they ran through obstacle courses, with game types including racing to the finish, collect rings, and survival.

    • The trailer itself seems to confirm some additional details, including cosmetic items (we can see a Sonic in a top hat) and Chao companions.
    • The trailer also seems to show multiple currencies, including rings and blue gems, and there are different sections that appear to be for a store front, settings, chao and "premium," which is presumably connected to in-game purchases.
    • Much like Fall Guys, players need to place at a certain threshold to quality for the next round, with thresholds of 16 and 8 shown.
    • In addition to races, we can also see a red vs blue team mode, some sort of points-centric mode, and some sort of elimination mode that seems to involve a Death Egg Robot. 
    • Levels seen include Green Hill, Chemical Plant, Silent Forest, Lava Mountain, and Ocean Palace.
    • A variety of enemies can be seen, including Aquarium Park's Egg Pawns, Buzz Bombers, and Motobugs.

    Finally, Midori has confirmed that this footage is beta footage. They confirmed to us that the footage was meant for internal use only, and was captured last summer, roughly a year ahead of its expected release.

    With the game expected to launch this summer, this means this footage was caught roughly a year away from its release.

    Midori reached out to us, and was able to confirm some additional details:

    • The game is developed SEGA's Division 4, aka SEGA Networks, the same team responsible for SEGA Pocket Club Manager and are working on a "super game."
    • Sonic Toys Party is meant to be a pillar mobile title that SEGA can use to experiment with mobile online games and other concepts.
    • Could release in June or July
    • Collaborations with SEGA and third party franchises are planned, including Saint Seiya and Persona.
    • There have been multiple playtests in Japan and America since October.
    • Cosmetics are a focus, and skins will be based around modern Sonic.
    • The Chao are more than just cosmetic items, they also have helpful bobuses for players in the stages.

    I have to wonder if Midori is a deliberate plant by Sega, and if not how in the world has she not been flushed out yet, because how in the world is any one leaker this accurate, detailed, and gives this much info?

    Game looks neat, glad they seem to be pulling from a fair variety of games for the levels here. Lava Mountain from Lost World, Seaside Hill/Ocean Palace from Heroes, Green Hill, and Chemical Plant too. Hope there's more we haven't seen yet. Sonic Fall Guys is inherently good idea to me so I look forward to it, I just hope it's not locked exclusively to phones since that would be a pain. Just... please don't let that be the final logo. Like, for real?

    Still, Looking forward to playing Sonic Takeshi's Castle later this year!

    There's no way that's a coincidence. I'm curious as to how Disney will react if that is their final logo, because I'm not sure if 'parody is protected speech' applies to mimicking trademarked logos (and there have been lawsuits about this exact thing before), and somehow I cannot imagine Disney not having some reaction to this.

    They full on copied the Toy Story logo. I guess thats payback for Disney using “Ugly Sonic” in the new live action Chip and Dale movie

    The leaked Japanese trailer of "Sonic Toys Party" looks pretty good. Same with the gameplay. I'm really excited when this comes out. I also noticed that the "Sonic Toys Party" logo reminds me of Disney and Pixar's "Toy Story" franchise logo. I'm glad this one is a beta test. Hopefully, we will get a official trailer and official logo if SEGA improves the logo or stayed that logo.

    Actually, it's Pixar. Not Disney. Both Disney and Pixar may not gonna noticed this at all since because the logo is pretty different than the Disney and Pixar's "Toy Story" franchise logo. The font for "Sonic Toys Party" and Disney and Pixar's "Toy Story" franchise is NOT the same.

    Neither a fan of mobile or purely multiplayer stuff. Have fun to those who like these kind of games tho.

    I guess it will just be parts of Sacred Clothes to wear to customize our characters...

    I can't shake the feeling that we would have seen a game like this 10 years ago. It does look alright at the very least I guess, but I really hope they don't just have this locked away on the Apple Arcade like Dream Team.

    I second this. Although it does make me wonder why the "Toy" aesthetic was chosen for this game. I'd expect more of a Yoshi's Wolly World art style, but this just looks like Dream Team with a slight chibi art style.

    From that trailer, the game seems very simple yet might be fun. If it's not going to waste my time too much (maybe 20 mins each day at most), I might consider giving it a try and even play it everyday, especially since the quality of actual Fall Guys is going desperately downhill with each update (they are removing features and relying on badly designed custom levels made by a small circle of authors that are always the same 10/15 people over and over, almost as if they are intentionally killing the game).

    I've seen that bots are in the game... I hope they are honest and tell when there's a bot as an opponent, unlike other games where they fake the bots as real players.

    Pros:

    - Basic platformer with Sonic mechanics, seems to be allright even though nothing special

    - Fall Guys alternative when actual Fall Guys is becoming trash

    - Not made by Hardlight

    Cons:

    - The premium currency is a red flag, it's fine that a free to play game relies on stuff like that to make money but I hope it doesn't become a greedy hell like Hardlight's F2P games.

    - There are chao, but no Cream & Cheese so far, I'm disappointed :knuxing:

    EDIT: That's obviously not a final logo, it's likely a placeholder since the trailer was intended for internal usage and not for public release.

    I can't imagine how furious Sega must be to have an actual trailer get leaked. Not just an image or a post about game details, but actual footage. I do like the look of it though.

    ik this is beta footage but it looks fun so far! kinda what i was expecting, like seems fun to play with friends but on its own its nothing super groundbreaking. DEFINITELY very excited for this though esp since its releasing during the summer.

    I agree, but honestly if its a f2p mobile game its usually premium currencies or ad infested (or sometimes both... speed battle) id rather it be the premium currency for like cosmetics and stuff than have an ad every 5 seconds interrupting gameplay. im hoping thats the case with it and the paid currency is just for cosmetics and not for anything major like characters.

    Because I've played Speed Battle for years and it has been a pain, they don't know how to make free to play games without turning them into a frustration fest (they also use shady practices, for example the shop that's designed to waste your currency with accidental clicks while you want to just scroll, they even commented on it on the FAQ of the game, saying that they won't change that, won't refund players, and players should be careful when navigating the shop, so it's definitely intentional and by design).

    Speed Battle was also full of glitches and jank, there's also that. And intentionally unbalanced for the sake of pay to win.

    I was joking, I think they will add her at some point, along with all the other popular characters such as the Chaotix, Silver, Blaze, etc.

    I saw "Top Story" on the front page and immediately thought "Toy Story". I mean, you can't tell me there's a theme here with the game logo and such. Perhaps @cybwerwas right about it being a payback thing XD
