  • Found Sonic Origins Plus Footage Shows What Happens When Amy Has All Chaos Emeralds

    Be sure to act surprised.

(Spoiler Warning, but hopefully you know what you're getting into if you saw the article title).

One point of the fanbase's longstanding curiosity with Sonic Origins Plus and its addition of Amy Rose has been "Will she have a super form?" It appears we may have an answer. A video posted to YouTube channel "Sekaimen" feature all four character's Super and Hyper transformations, including the previously unseen Amy transformations.

While you (like me) may be skeptical of the footage this early given the strange nature of the channel itself, we took a good look at the sprites compared to other official sources, and they do line up. Much like most other Super forms, Amy gains enhanced speed, though she does not appear to have a unique sprite to her form (much like Tails or Knuckles). Her Hyper form doesn't seem to visually change her, nor does this video show off any additional abilities (if there are any).

SEGA has kept a tight wrap on Amy footage up until yesterday's Sonic Official Stream, but with the DLC releasing next week, this might be our first external peek at what she can do. Those hoping Amy's Super inclusion would buck a visual trend set across the 16-bit styled games may be left wanting, but her consistency here and her inclusion in Superstars has cemented her as an important character to the Classic Sonic series.

So it's just a lighter shade of her regular color like every other character.

    I'm disappointed, but not surprised.

I think it's a bit silly that the other characters don't get proper alternative designs, but hey, it's still a canon super form for Amy, for the first time since her debut in 1993. That's huge.

This also smashes the "Girls can't go super" alleged rule (Blaze had a Burning form, not a "Super" form technically), so this is a historic first, both for Amy and for the series.

Funnily enough, it's kind of a trend that began even with Shadow, hedgehog-wise. His super form is essentially just him turning steel gold.

Kinda lame. I feel like the only good Super forms are Sonic, Shadow and Blaze.

Colorwise, I think her turning mint green would be nice. Like, how Sonic turns the invert of blue.

Good that sega redoing their statement of only male hedgehogs going super, that was a bad idea, (I know they did it in mania, but that was Christian white head and stuff not really sega,)

You'd think with the whole "power enriched by the heart" thing that Chaos Emeralds got going on that Amy would be one of the first ones to do something about them. That male hedgehog thing never made sense to me since literally everything else like machinery can use them.

But yea, glad to see them they finally came around. Still tho, honestly kind of a boring super state since she doesn't really add anything to the table.

Kinda sad that Amy's super form is just Amy but with bright colors. I was really hoping her super form was similar to Sonic's and Shadow's super form where they change the color to something different. Still happy that Amy finally has a super form after fans have asked for many years.

If we're being honest, super forms in the classics for anyone but Sonic are really just a non-canon bonus, so I wasn't expecting anything too visually elaborate.  But it would be nice to see more interesting designs for story-based super forms in the more narrative-heavy games (if not in general).

Them being a non-canon bonus should mean they could have more unique designs. Why care about sticking to canon design philosophies if they're non-canon bonuses to begin with? Lightly changing the shade of color is just kind of boring and hardly makes it feel like some alternate transformation like you'd think super should.
