Paramount Plus's Knuckles series is looking to continue the Sonic Movie Universe's string of modest critical successes with what is, currently, the highest rating for the franchise yet, and its first certified fresh rating. This comes with some caveats, of course. The show currently only has 27 reviews, far fewer than the movies. In addition, the show is currently only just barely holding on to the Certified Fresh designation, at 70%. The audience score, meanwhile, sits slightly higher at 73% Regardless, it's been over a week since the show released, and it's looking increasingly unlikely that this'll break the franchise's Rotten Tomatoes winning streak.

Below is Rotten Tomatoes' critical consensus summary:

Quote

Pairing Idris Elba's terse echidna with a befuddled Adam Pally, Knuckles could use some extra punch to appeal more broadly beyond youngsters but hits just fine as light family entertainment.

You can check out the show's Rotten Tomatoes page here.

We weren't quite as happy with the show. We gave it a 2.5 out of 5, or an "okay" rating. You can check out our definitive review here.

Not surprised. It's liked for the same reasons the movies are liked - they're harmless and silly romps with Sonic characters and lore laid over them. This score makes sense to me, even if it disappointed the ones that expected way more echidna deep-diving.

Good news for the franchise going forward. Even though I found it a bit "meh".
