Sonic Colours Review topic

Hear hear. Remember when Sonic Unleashed was on it's way? Scores for a game which is essentially two completely different games in one seem wrong - the good stuff is so good but the bad stuff has to drag the score down to the point that it puts people 'on the fence' off of the overall product.

How's it not fair to grade it? The game sucked half the time, and the score deserves to suffer for it.

Eh, I could have called a 3 out of 5. Still, this is the first review that actually claims that the Wisps take away from the core mechanic. Even the other reviews which gave it an average rating said that the Wisps do nothing but supplement the core gameplay.

And honestly, from personal experience, I have no clue how the Wisps take away from anything. The hover one might be a bit slow, and the cyan laser can be a bit wily... but that's all I got, and even that's grasping at straws. I really don't understand that gripe.

I posted this on the review:

"How exactly does a power-up take away from Sonic's "core mechanics"? Power-ups ARE a core Sonic mechanic. In my humble opinion this game deserves a 4. The only issue is the length: I beat it an afternoon."

Some say Wisps are underutilized, some say they ruin the game. People can't be pleased, ever.

10/10 is "super awesome amazing masterpiece", not "perfect/flawless". Nothing is perfect, despite what the fans who worship at the altar of S3&K say.

I don't think any s3k 'worshipper' think it is perfect. If that was the case why would they ever ask for a game to surpass it?

Multiplayer gave it an 85%

"After many years of average games, Sega finally gets back on the tracks with Sonic Colors: everything the fans were hoping for is here, packed with gorgeous graphics and solid new game mechanics."

Apparently she didn't get the memo, that the Wisp are OPTIONAL.

Since when? I remember tonnes of parts where I couldn't progress without using one.

Maybe in the later stages, but you can beat all of Tropical Resort without one.

Let's try not to get butthurt by a few "so so" reviews(seriously, the only really negative one at this point is Dtoid's and even then... it's Jim Sterling).

It's getting mostly positive reviews from a lot of places and that should be enough.

Yeah, now were talking B)

That bastard of a jim sterling messed with the metacritic score. Hope it'll at least go to 7,9. Still hoping for an 8 however, seems rather unlikely though.

Where can I find the list of gaming sites/magazines count for the Metascore? I saw someone post it somewhere one day but now I can't find it

Talking about Meta, they added a positive review, but the score is still in 78. I think it's the Multiplayer.it one which is an 8.5/10

Correct me if I'm wrong :)

Go to their website and click help(right corner). It will have a section you can click on telling you which websites/magazines it uses to calculate it's score.

Sonic Colors is currently the 6th most Popular game on Gamespot:

No matter what score they get though, they always tend to be popular there. heck, I still have this saved from a couple years back as proof:

3.5 made me lol. I forgot it was the score it got from gamespot. From 3.5 to 8

Great achievement if you ask me.

Loads of parts in Planet Wisp needed the spikes wisp, loads of parts in Aquarium Park needed the hover wisp, some parts in Sweet Mountain needed the drill wisp, loads of parts in Asteroid Coaster needed the frenzy wisp. Without these you can't progress.

Plus optional or not they should be mentioned in a review - like if the multiplayer sucks in a game - they can't just not mention it because it's optional.
