Rocket Knight Adventures!

rka.png

I've never actually played this game before, but always had an interest in doing so, this event giving me the motivation I needed to finally give it a go.

And I enjoyed it! If I'd had this back in the day, I can just imagine playnig the bejeezus out of it. Such a little gem.

Completed Sonic 3K on Classic Collection because why not? Pictures are a little old now since I took em a while back and sorta forgot to upload them until now. Holidays and all. Oops. Spoiler'd for size.

Another game I never played before down.

iFjyFrM.png

This one, I liked better than Kirby 3. I can definitely see where its reputation comes from; it's big without being stretched out, it's complicated without being too overwhelming (even to a new player...though admittedly I had absorbed a lot of details through watching other people's playthroughs), the puzzles are fun, most of the items are interesting, overall it's a really well made and fun game.

I do have my complaints about it, though. I do feel like there were some times when I wasn't given enough direction, where I would've appreciated a bit of a nudge in the right direction. I don't deny that I checked a FAQ a few times when the alternatives were running around hoping I bumped into something useful or running to a fortune teller and hoping they'd tell me what's what. That's not to say the game's terrible about it, and it's definitely nice to be left to your own devices compared to more modern Zeldas, but there's a few rough patches that could be smoothed over. Like, it kind of sucks to get to Ganon, having completely forgotten that silver arrows exist, and having to look up what the deal is, because at no point before did I run into anything mentioning them.

My other complaint is the combat/health. For most of the game, I was just barely scraping by; I was lucky to get some bottles early, because without some fairies I likely wouldn't have been able to make much progress. Enemies can do a lot of damage quickly (even fairly weak ones, if they get up in your face in the right way), and Link feels too sluggish to fight well. His melee range is crap, ranged weapons are slow, sometimes it feels hard to turn where you want to be facing, and you get bumped all over the place. It felt like it was starting to even out a bit towards the end (or maybe it's just that there were more anti-fairies to turn into fairies), but it still seemed too easy to get wrecked if you weren't careful.

That said, still a very good game, definitely worth the time to play it.

Wow, can't believe I did this one. Sorry Hogfather, but this one didn't stop me =P

Entry # 13, ironic isn't it since it is rather hellish XD

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. Yes I actually went through this again, not thinking I ever would again or not. It took me around four or five hours to do it, but I did it. Surprisingly, Dr. Robotnik only took me like three tries to beat. I suffered more on like levels 9 and 10 I think more  than any other levels if I remember right. That thing just gets so fast in those later stages that it makes it so hard to do things sometimes. Oh well, at least I completed this game XD

That's two! I played these on and off for the past couple of days. :J

Sonic 3K and Kirby's Dreamland 3 are both two of some of my favorite games of all time. Both a third in a series, too. Good.

KDL3 is just such a great romp. The artstyle accompanies with it a really beautiful visual; one that I think fits Kirby a lot better than the bold colors most Kirby games use. That crayon-ish, wavy pastel look is just amazing. Oh yeah, and the sense of adventure you get from the levels. The game is definitely more of a platformer than any bit of Super Star ever was, and while it's attack system is so simple in comparison, this game just trumps KSS. Simple as. Wonderful game~ <3

S3K just speaks for itself, as it should here at a Sonic forum. So much to explore, so much speed and action, and the visuals and music are rockin'. The instruction manuals plus the cutscenes give just enough meat to the story and background fiction, and it's just an all around the definitive Sonic game. Did so many things right.

So yeah I love these games -<-

I hope to tackle Earthbound or Ristar soon. Maybe even Rocket Knight Adventures. We'll see.

Whoooops, didn't mean to post it in here fhjasfhjsdf

In case there's ever a gold medal for this in the future

Maybe I'll do Link to the past next, just before I get Link Between Worlds for christmas

My second ever playthrough of Earthbound, completed! Since one (possibly two) of these images are spoilery, time for tags.

Don't see many games that credit the player, eh?

I decided to take the long way home, walking instead of teleporting right to Twoson and then Onett.  I did teleport twice, however. I visited Threed for a bit, teleported to Fourside, and then Twoson. Still, I took my time, just like the first time I beat this game.

Welp. Giygas is done, world is saved...oh right, the picture.

Done and done. I haven't played in a while, so I actually ended up dying 6 times, which is a LOT more then I'm used to. Oh well.

Just beat Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I hope its fine if I used Knuckles since I remember him more than Sonic/Tails' route. And fuck the Death Egg bosses!

And I really wanted that Sonic badge next to Mario.

Edit: Guess who's getting a Castlevania badge?

I really hated when Dracula started summoning those fireball enemies though. It was a bitch.

Vanquished the horrible night last night.

First time I've played a Castlevania game that wasn't a metroidvania. The game gets pretty hard in the later stages but thank god for unlimited continues. Really good music in this game.

Bonus pic: Felt I had to do this after beating Dracula.

Rocked that shit, HOMIE!

Ristar is also one of my personal favorites. Hard as nails game, but probably one of the most well designed games on the Genesis. It rings of that early 'Segasonic' charm, as if it's almost obvious that the gentlemen of Sonic Team worked on this. The music is flipping godtier as well, holy smokes.

Both parts of the credits music almost made me bust a few of those weepy tears, for different reasons. God dang. Bless you, Ristar.

There were a lot of other things about the ending I could have taken screens of, but the fact that you could turn down Paula's request to escort her home and she instead decides to escort

you is one of my favorite moments of the entire experience

Handed out up to post #180; will continue later tonight or tomorrow morning. I haven't forgotten about you guys, I've just been preoccupied!

Edit: Also fixing a few inconsistencies with the Kirby badges while I'm at it (Donkey Kong/Goemon to a lesser extent). If you completed the award for the gold, you should also have the white border when I'm done.

Here’s my completed run of Super Mario World. Even though I have the GBA remake, I thought this would be a good opportunity to hook my SNES back up for the first time in a while. I found every level exit too because I felt like it.

Beat the game, saved the girl, stopped the nuke, defeated Mortimus and returned back to NY for some well earned rest and some cheesy pizza, this game is awesome, awesome music, awesome fights, awesome puzzles and genuine challenge and difficulty.

Really disappointed that SEGA never even thought of a sequel for this, the premise is so cool.
