It seems so, I mean the gameplay part not the 'free' part. xD

They are saying that it is very similar to Assassin's Creed III in gameplay, and that it will lead to Assassin's Creed III's story.

Assassin's Creed Altair's Chronicles was developed by Gameloft, I don't recall seeing a free Gameloft game, but this one is by GREE... Well this is the first time I hear of GREE. But who knows? (GREE = FREE) xD

Even though I enjoyed AC 3, and look foward to AC 4 I also would wish for Ubisoft to give the series a bit of a break. Why can't they do what Sega did and release some handheld spin offs for unrelated stories like they did with the Vita and DS titles?

My only concern with AC 4 is it turning out like Far Cry 3. They look pretty similar, with the setting an all. :/

I think SEGA is different, Sonic games for example don't all have the same story continuity, like Colors, or Unleashed, they have completely independent stories, but Assassin's Creed is an on-going story... Still, they should take a break every once in a while.

AC3 was the perfect time to take a break in my opinion. Still, if AC4 is a solid game then I won't be complaining.

I totally agree. From Revelations to III, the visuals were greatly enhanced, but if they gave it even more time, it would have been World's 8th Wonder!

I managed to get my sister to play AC2 last night, and she really enjoyed it so I was proper pleased about that. But the best thing was, she thought Ezio was just as attractive as I did! Literally her first reaction to him in the fight scene when you first enter the Animus 2.0 was "oh my God he's so hot!" which is pretty much the first thing I thought when I saw him.

I never thought that. Now it will be forever carved into my mind. Which is a good thing.   I can never play AC2, Brotherhood or Revelations in the same way ever again.

I don't know what's the deal with 'sisters' and Assassin's Creed! My sister isn't much of a gamer, but she likes to collect some images and videos.

Well... I didn't ask her yet if Ezio is hot or not. xD

Personally, I like the old Ezio better, (the old in age not the old in game release date), he became much wiser, more modest, more skilled and experienced. My favorite character after all is still Altair anyway.

Old Ezio is haaaaaaaaaaawwwwt... :3 *strokes his beard*

Oddly my Mum feels the opposite way and complained "Urrr! He's OLD!" when she first saw him in Revelations.

In terms of gameplay I love the hookblade, it's so much fun! I love dropping on guys from the hookline as well. Muahahaa.

Oh my GOD! Good thing someone noticed!! XD

So here's the question, how many Assassin's Creed games have you beaten?

I beat Revelations, Brotherhood, then I in order.

Why are we talking about the looks of a video game character? We're all going insane!

Because it's just as relevant a talking point as any other?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Ezio was designed to appeal to the ladies... well, I mean women consumers...

Not sure what to think about that. :/

Well, it means that characters who follow him who aren't ladies' men will not have that appeal, which will result in complaints and a probable return to the ladies' man style. Hence, Edward.

AC1, AC2, ACB, ACR, AC3. In that exact order. I've beaten each game twice within a few months. But I'd literally mastered AC2. That is the only game out of the franchise that I 100%. ACB was very close but I could not figure out how to do a certain mission 100%. The rest kinda just eh.

How you know it's time for a new sonic game. The SSMB member are checking out characters from other franchises and thinking they are 'cute' or 'hot'.

Oh yeah baby... Edward!

Sheesh that's a LOT!

Well for me, in Revelations as I recall it was 90%, I don't think there's a mission I can't master, it's my favorite. Yes, I like it better than III, maybe when I beat III maybe, I'll change my mind.

89% for Brotherhood, and when it comes to I, well, almost very close to the end, there were only a few missions in the 2nd or 3rd memory block that I didn't complete, because I was 'getting used to the game', the controls had a few slight changes after I, so it's normal to take a little while getting used to it when you play Revelations and Brotherhood before the first game...

As for II and III, have them both, I don't think I'll have the opportunity to play them anytime soon though.

You are joking right? Assassin's Creed 2 is the best of the series. It has the best story with the best character development. It was the game that made Ezio badass and an iconic character of this generation. I demand you stop playing what other games you have and run through it.

Now that, that is out of the way. Has anyone tried to speedrun any of the games? I last recall my fastest run of AC2 was right at 8 hours. This includes very few side missions. (only the ones required to go on). While ACB and ACR was right at 6.

So if I fail my exams I'll blame it on you!

Just kidding, I'll try to start beating it when I find enough time.

As for your question, I don't remember that I played an Assassin's Creed game for more than 4 to 6 hours.

Edit:

Any of you guys ever thought that they'll make the Vth game the last one, to make it look like the Assassins logo? V!

Ubisoft fires Assassin's Creed Creator:

Update: Desilets has now commented on his departure, telling Polygon that he was in fact fired.

"Contrary to any statements made earlier today, this morning I was terminated by Ubisoft," Desilets said. "I was notified of this termination in person, handed a termination notice and was unceremoniously escorted out of the building by two guards without being able to say goodbye to my team or collect my personal belongings. This was not my decision. Ubisoft's actions are baseless and without merit. I intend to fight Ubisoft vigorously for my rights, for my team and for my game."

Original story follows:

Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Desilets has once again left the company. A Ubisoft representative provided the following statement to IGN:

"The acquisition of THQ Montréal in January allowed Ubisoft to welcome 170 experienced developers, including Patrice Désilets, to our existing and renowned workforce. Unfortunately, since the acquisition, the good faith discussions between Patrice and Ubisoft aimed at aligning Patrice’s and the studio’s visions have been inconclusive. As a result, Patrice has left the studio. Our priorities remain with the teams already hard at work on projects in development. They are at the root of Ubisoft Montréal’s past and future successes."

Desilets, who worked on the first entries in the Assassin’s Creed series before departing Ubisoft in 2010, eventually joined THQ Montreal. In a strange twist of fate, Ubisoft acquired THQ Montreal in January, bringing Desilets back to his original home.

In the downfall of THQ, court documents revealed that Desilets was working on a project codenamed 1666. Little is known about the project, though before its bankruptcy THQ trademarked the title and registered multiple domains.

Without Desilets, the current fate of 1666 is unknown, but we’ve reached out to Ubisoft for additional information and will update this story with any comment we receive. Desilets has not yet announced where he’ll be headed next.

Goodness me not again. Whatever's next is he going to come back and the cycle repeats again and again like the merry go round. I hope he has made up his mind. Oh well.

Never know about him much outside AC and Prince of Persia but wherever direction he is heading I wish him all the best this time.

Wait, he was escorted out by guards!?

Developing video games must be a very fucking serious business.

You've really got to wonder what was going on there to make Ubisoft's higher-ups feel compelled to get rid of him so quickly and harshly.
