Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing

Doctor MK

Could always make a seperate profile or unplug the HD then play if you're curious about trying them out. =o (On 360 anyway).

Double checked and Outer Forest is affected on Wii too but doesn't have any 00:00:000 times so that confirms the glitch in that video works on Wii too.

The DS version finally let me finish checking all of its leaderboards and the only tracks affected are the original 3 I posted -

Lost Palace (1 person)

Ocean Ruin (the 1 same player)

Roulette Road (the 1 same player)

Highway Zero's top player has a much lower time compared to the others but its hard to say wether they've cheated or not though. Their time is 0:25.96 and 2nd place has a time of 0:39.65

Well... I suppose this is what comes from only having 6 months to develop a game.

Maybe in two years they'll have Sega All-Stars Racing Deluxe with much better coding and such.

Where did you hear that? They worked on the game well over 6 months, I'm pretty sure they said 2 or 3 years.

..Am I the only person who finds it sort of interesting that the person who discovered and is supposedly pointing out all these glitches and exploits already had one of, if not the best time on just about every track in the game already?

I've been seeing their name at the top of the PS3 leaderboards for Time Trials since I first got it.

He is using a lot of exploits to get the best times. :P

It is quite strange as to why you'd want to swap a good legitimate time for a glitch time. Had I found the glitch I wouldn't have uploaded it to YouTube and let it spread, but someone else might have found it anyway. The glitch times are easy to distinguish at least, with the other times being slower and more consistent. I would hope that Sumo addresses this glitch in a future patch and removes all the glitch times, then everything could get back to normal. The leaderboards are still in their infancy in terms of lap times, I'm sure that people can still get faster without having to resort to glitching.

I'd hope any DLC items were glitch free as I'm really eager to get whatever is coming up. 3 lap time trials would be fun too as well as the single lap ones.

Who ever had a hope in hell in topping the timesheets when they bought the game on the day of release? Who cares now?

I too find that somewhat strange too.

Anytime I see anyone on top of a leaderboard which has a username that matches the game or a character in it. The cheat alarm bells start to ring.

I honestly think the only reason I don't have top 20 on basically every track is because I don't use Sonic.

SAWNIK IZ TTLY BORKED LOLZ

(He really is the best though. Leaderboards prove it)

I'd hope that any DLC characters would be as able as Sonic, as the only character similar to Sonic at the moment in their stats is AiAi, who has slightly less boost. Although Sonic is good for most tracks he's easily beaten on Sewer Scrapes by the flying vehicles and on a few other tracks. I'm surprised at how little Sonic is used online, despite the stats. Simply being Sonic should make him popular really. Unless it's only me that finds this of course.

Thats only true if the items are turned off.

In just about every online game I play, they're turned on. When that happens all what someone needs to do is break away from the front right at the start and they'll win regardless of character.

Another Xbox 360 version track on the leaderboards has now felt the wrath of the glitch, Tokyo-To Shibuya Downtown.

EDIT:

Turbine Loop and Highway Zero now also fucked on Xbox 360 too :( Now it's even with PS3

EDIT 2:

Wii version is now hammered by the glitch rather than the cheating 00:00:000 folks -

Whale Lagoon (This track has two 00:00:000 records and short glitched records)

Icicle Valley (This track has one 00:00:000 record and short glitched records)

Below tracks contain all short glitched records -

Roulette Road

Outer Forest

Turbine Loop

Treetops

Rampart Road

Jump Parade

Sewer Scrapes

Lava Lair

Thunder Deck

Definitely not, Steve Lycett complained on the Sega forums about the very short timeframe they had to develop this game. There's no way they had 2 years otherwise it wouldn't have nearly as many bugs and probably have a lot more gameplay options and refinements.

2 years is pretty average, if not on the shorter end of the scale. And as Clisp said, we saw the game way more than 6 months prior to release.

Excuse me?

It's a multi-format game which includes the Wii and the DS, they managed to give it PS3 sixaxis controll and the DS rumble support as addtional extras which could so easilly have been passed up as almost nobody would have asked for them. It has over 50 missions which the bulk are actually quite good, do I need to list the rest of the gameplay and shopping modes? On top of that it had planned a few other modes which I believe were cut because they didn't look right in the game, e.g. rival mode.

The only bugs that the game has which present a significant problem to the game, if you do not include the friendship trophy bug and maybe the fighters megamix trophy problem (the one with shadow). Are ones that some saddo has spent hours trying to find by doing a barrage of tests that nobody who would PLAY the game would even dream of doing.

"Oh I'm in a race! I know I'll get an all star moves and deliberately go behind this rock before I activate it!

"Whats this! A time trial!? QUICK! Drive slowly along the edge of the track and see if it causes the game to break, because during a time trial! You must drive slow!"

Who thinks that!? Who does that!? Who really thinks or enters a game and suddenly decides to do that unless they're actively going out looking for exploits so that they can get to the top of the leaderboards and then post their 'epic wins' on youtube?

Either way it was definitely more than 6 months as we actually saw footage more than 6 months before release...

Well I played quite a strong version of it back in August 09 and I know a few other people did so it must have been a LOT longer than 6 months from announcement to 'oh hey we've got a public beta demo!' stage.

I agree. All games have glitches in them like this. The only reason it seems bad here is that in a game with online rankings, it actually matters.

I haven't played this game in what feels like ages... damn college work and Sonic Classic Collection taking up my time!

I've still got the Expert Grand Prixs and the Missions to finish off, along with buying everything in the shop. This is one game I will complete, it's too good not to! :P

Roll on the Easter holidays, I say...

It has the glitches, and thats a fact. I don't get why everyone has to get all worked up.

Yes, all games have glitches. And yes, if every game in the world had a longer time to develop for, they would have less bugs.

I take it that Duke Nukem Forever will be glitch free then since that development for a very very long time (I seriously hope that comes out soon i've been waiting too long 3D Realms lol)

I've done the glitch on Outer Forest kinda crap glitch just another way for leaderboard whores to boost there times, I myself is never going to do the glitch again plus i wish i did offline so my time would not be so f**ked up lol

People are reading my post the wrong way. I never said it wouldn't have ANY bugs, just less. Bugs are actually quite common in this game, just the other day I was on Roulette Road as Eggman and fell off the track for no reason once it turned upside down, then when the car respawned it wouldn't orient itself with the road properly so it would clip through and fall off again and again endlessly. They're found in normal gameplay as well, not just by deliberately searching for them.

SERIOUSLY!!!!

The HEAVY VEHICLES need to be FIXED.

I was playing not too long ago today. Alex Kidd passed me easily. Running in the back of Shadow's bike slowed me down badly. Sonic pushes me.

THE BAD:

-bad acceleration

-bad handling

-horrible starting boost

-turbo boost comes out slow

-tricks come out slow

-can not push smaller vehicles

THE GOOD:

+good turbo boost

+good speed (even though I barely feel fast)

I had to get that out...so I won't complain about it anymore and deal with it (and secretly pray heavies will be better in the future).

Anyway, someone online picked Icicle Valley w/o weapons and I thought I'd dominate that stage. Guess I was wrong. And some ass that played as Shadow kept picking those Casino stages. It was annoying so I made sure not to attack anyone else and managed to get him 2nd (I was 3rd). He left after that. ;)
