All-Stars Racing Transformed: The Track Roster Thread

Well if NiGHTS is in the game then he'll probably have a stage as well. I'm assuming the same for Vyse and Gilius... okay, maybe not Gilius. But I think the more "fleshed out" a world is in the original games, the better chance it has of being in this game and Nightopia is very unique and well thought out so there's no reason not to use it. Skies of Arcadia also has a world which much thought and backstory put into it so that's also a likely choice for a stage.

Check out that crazy idea I had for a Sonic track, since we're talking about levels with mixed elements:

The Little Planet course:

The race will pass through all the levels of SONIC CD!

You begin at Palmtree Panic, with all its glory and "woo!" screams on the background. As you advance, BAM, a cosmic green portal sents you to Collision Chaos and holy shit, the walls are full of bumpers, watch out! Suddenly another portal appears, and damn, you are jet-skiing above Tidal Tempest's waters! Holy mamma, that's intense, but look, another portal, oh MAN, you're now flying trying to avoid ice beams, eletric wires and the bouncing floor of Wacky Workbench! But hey, another portal and damn, you're back on floor, OMG, Quartz Quadrant, there's quartz stones everywhere! Break that quartz wall and avoid the treadmill floor that sents you backward! Now look, another portal and HIT IT, GET DOWN, you're in Stardust Speedway baby, blasting with lots of speed booster and loopings at sonic's speed and then SHIT, another portal and now you're in Metalic Madness, better watch out for the chainsaws! You finally found the last portal and you're now back to Palmtree Panic for more!

Now imagine this with dynamic music. Each time you enter a new level, a new remix starts. Also, flying UFOs, familiar badniks and Metal Sonic holograms on the backgound of the levels. OH MY GOD. If only I worked with Sumo, I'do certainly make that happen in ASRT.

That... while not a terrible idea, it's not exactly a good one either. You're basically making 8 levels in one so you'd have to have completely new art assets and aesthetics for every level in the track which would take up a lot of time and money that could be spent making other tracks. Also, why "portals" to other stages? Can't something more original be done than that?

if a CD track gets put in, i'd like them to use the sign posts as a gameplay mechanic in level, sending the racers to the future/past.

maybe in the past the water level is over the track changing you to boat form, and in the future there's no ground so you turn to plane form.

would be interesting.

It really doesn't confirm anything. The tracks don't have to be in the game, but just chosen for the toys because they're well known, and just uses the ASR name for the characters and cars.

But, if Green Hill is in ASR that would suck very much.

Edit: I also notice they're using ASR1 vehicles and I don't see them saying these toys are specifically for ASRT, just "Fab fun new range of Sonic The Hedgehog models and playsets", so the name might not even be on them.

That giant ring sure does look interesting. Will we be warping to the other Green Hill-expy levels via the giant ring?

If a segment of the track took place in the half-pipe Special Stage it would help to differentiate it from the first game's Seaside Hill a little I suppose. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It could however be explained as a licensing thing. We're also under the belief that Jazwares has an ASRT license, depending on the details, Meccano might be able to make toys based on the tracks, but not the racers.

Although these are concept images, so it could very easilly be explained that way. I can't see these being anything other than ASRT toys though, not since Meccano wasn't allowed to show them until after ASRT was announced and how the release date for these would put it in the area where you would expect ASRT to come out.

I think everyone can expect Green Hill Zone. It's the most iconic Sonic level and people are going to want to see it, especially considering a lot of them will be new to the All Stars series.

But oh man, are they missing out on having transforming action figures. I can't be the only one seeing that potential.

Despite apparently being based on Transformed, it's worth noting that Sonic and Knuckles' cars are both their ones from ASR1.

Man I was hoping the ASR cars would be made with diecast steel. These car designs are just begging to made with high quality metals, they're beautiful designs that just aren't captured well enough in plastic.

Picture any of the ASR cars being made with this much quality, that would be AMAZING.

But we never got Green Hill Zone in the last All-Star racing game. Instead we got Seaside Hill.

I doubt those toys mean the tracks are in the game.

Considering the very 16-bit style of the Meccano GHZ, and the way they're using the old car designs... yeah, look probable. Fingers crossed!

Let's consider an Outrun track.

If there was an Outrun course in the game I doubt very much it would be a circuit. Instead it would be one of those point A to point B race courses like Maka Wuhu and Rainbow Road in Mario Kart 7. I consider that it would be an "Outrun World Tour" where you see famous landmarks and locations as you drive. In fact it would be such an involved course that it would almost necessitate its own mode.

Well just for a little speculation.. Here is my guess for the new ones,

3 Sonic Tracks (???,???,???)

1 Super Monkey Ball Track (Temple Trouble)

1 Samba De Amigo Track (???)

1 Space Channel 5 Track (???)

1 Jet Set Radio Track (???)

1 NiGHTS Track (???)

1 Skies of Arcadia Track (???)

1 Golden Axe (???)

1 Crazy Taxi (???)

1 Streets of Rage (???)

1 Panzer Dragoon (Dragon Canyon)

1 Ristar Track (???) (I kinda doubt, but i would love a reimagine track of it)

1 Shenmue Track (???)

1 Billy Hatcher Track (???)

and returning stages,

1 Sonic Track (Death Egg/Egg Hagnar)

1 Super Monkey Ball Track (Desert Level)

1 Jet Set Radio Track (Shibuya Downtown)

1 House of the Dead/Curien's Mansion Track (???) (I don't know which one though)

I don't think Billy Hatcher is returning so it'd be pointless for him to have a track.

Maybe there will be tracks that mix up various Sega titles. So one Sega arcade racer track that mixes Outrun, Daytona, Scud Race, etc. One "Dreamcast" track that contains references to miscellaneous non-classifiable Sega titles such as Rez, Chuchu Rocket and Space Channel 5.

I don't think they'll do that though, I think they're mainly borrowing areas from established worlds. The existence of a Panzer Dragoon track means that there may be other courses themed on other Sega games that don't have character representation. I think it'll be one game world per track.

i cringed when reading this list

that selection is way too common for my tastes, i'd want Sumo to dive deep and unearth some really good classics and seriously wow us, like Fantasy Zone, REZ, After Burner, Super Hang On, Clockwork Knight anything other than the obvious Golden Axe, Streets of Rage stuff as good as it is, this Sumo's chance to tip the SEGA nostalgia dumpster over everyone.

I don't think they'll be mixes of anything specific, but they'll just be generalizations around the theme of Sonic.

That's what I mean. We won't get stuff like that. We'll get specific Zones.
