Sonic 4: Episode 2 Screens & Media Topic

Last Act of Episode Metal is up, as well as the last Special Stage. That Special Stage does look pretty tricky. ShadowOfRuki only JUST makes it.

The Metal Sonic story looks really good. A shame it was only 4 acts. Looks fun though.

Oh, another bit of info with regards to how you progress through the game:

Now this is just theorising because I played through every act as a marathon, so I can only make guess work by the "you've unlocked X Zone Act X!" message spam I got the first time I went to the map after finishing, which obviously I cannot remember 100% perfectly, but I THINK:

Sylvania Castle must be played in order, and is the only zone avaliable at first. After beating it, you unlock White Park and Oil Desert, which you can play the acts through in any order (I think). Beating all acts unlocks the boss as per Ep 1. Only after both are beaten do you gain access to Sky Fortress, which Act 1 must be played first. I think Acts 2 and 3 might unlock together but not sure. After that you unlock the Sky Fortress Boss, and then Death Egg Mk. II obviously must be played in order.

Incidentally there is no "New Game" option on the menu, so unless they add that in the final version, there's no way to start over from scratch without using a seperate profile or manually deleting save data from folders/data management menus.

Yeeeeesssss. I hope so. Kind of glad I'll still have some new content to look forward to if there is a hidden ending in the final release.

Did you also find an image of Iizuka making a troll face beneath the "to be continued..." card?

Awesome! Thanks, Woun. I wonder if it's referring to an hidden ending or Episode 3. I'd have thought if it was an hidden ending it would have shown at the end for those who have already played, unless it doesn't show up in the beta.

AAUK's in the credits for Sonic 4: Episode 2. It's cool and all, but he hasn't been SEGA Europe's Community Manager for a while, and I've not seen his name in the credits for recent Sonic games.

This is strange. There was "Collected all Chaos Emeralds, Try Again, To be continued...". I agree with Shadzter, maybe we'll find out in the full game.

OMG! Epic! Other community faces have made the credits in the special thanks section, like Brad Flick and Skyler King.

This does look like a very finished beta, so I guess this is pretty much it? So far looks like a huge improvement.

So, for those who've played E2...how long is it? Is it the same length as E1 or longer?

Same length pretty much, with the exception of the final stage having 2 acts. The acts are much longer though. Ken Balough wasn't lying there.

Really like the Music for Death Egg Mk. II, its a pretty genius track. Can't wait for it to be remixed by fans and Senoue himself uding real instruments/better soundfonts.

EDIT:

Sky Fortress ACt 2 has pretty fantastic music as well.

Isn't that pretty well known by now?

Its just for those who didn't know about that, I already new that because of the way sonic jumps and moves and the window shown in the steam leak screenshot and that means its the same format and engine and similar physics but fixed.

So guys, I'm buying Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II for the third episode, and you?

I was already set on getting this game, but seeing it in action just about cemented me getting it. May, come sooner!

Also, from what I've seen, Death Egg mk. II, despite being invaded and torn by Sonic and Tails, still surrounds Little Planet. At least from what the beta is showing.

Story-wise, there has to be a third episode.

Or a new game which delves into this. Theories are endless possibilities in themselves.

Story-wise? What the fuck is happening story-wise?

All I'm seeing is "UH OH SPAGHETTIOS SONIC EGGMAN BE TAKIN' DEM ROBATS FROM DUH OLD GAYMS AND MAKIN' 'EM ROBAT HARDER DIS TIEM. GO GET 'EM TIGUR1", and that applies to both episodes.

Hell, Episode 1's official description lists it as exactly that; Eggman remaking old machines and stirring trouble again. Episode 2? He brought back Metal Sonic and that other thing. There's literally nothing more to it.

What's to theorize about?

i can't say i was holding my breathe for episode 2, although i was still planning on buying it

but after seeing sky fortress i've caved and boarded the hype train

that level, the music, the gimmicks, everything is a fucking masterpiece and i cannot wait to be going through it myself

i actually felt like "holy shit, this looks fucking stunning, it feels like a classic whilst remaining its own thing"

so yeah, officially hyped from 3 acts, can't believe it took me this long to enjoy it though, the other acts seem a bit lackluster compared to this, and i can't help thinking Sonic Rivals at the theme park level.
