  • Spring Time News: New Writers, Site Restoration Updates and More!

Welcome to the latest addition to the Sonic News team!

Spring is here! And not a moment too soon - it really felt like that Winter season was not letting us go, right? But now is a time for Easter (which is this weekend - eggs-citing!), a time for lunchtime picnics in the sunshine, a time for trying to re-grow that blasted garden lawn and a time for seeing how soon we can get away with running our first outdoor barbecue of the year (I may or may not have tried to do all of these things already).

For us, and most people I imagine, this time of year also brings with it a round of Spring Cleaning - an opportunity to clear out old stuff, tidy up the leftovers and to bring in the new. And with that in mind, I'd like to take a moment to welcome a new member of the Sonic News writing team to our community.

Please congratulate/welcome/enter appropriate greeting here @Failinhearts, who has been a member of the SSMB Forums for many many years and will now help formally cover news for the Sonic News side of the site. He has contributed a lot to our Sonic News tips forum over the months (as have a number of other SSMB users - we see you, and we appreciate you!) and his writing style seemed like a natural fit for our team.

Crucially, Failin is a massive nerd for Sonic merchandise, which is something we've been missing a beat on with our coverage, so having an expert in the field here will go a long way to building our community's content back up. You may have noticed some news he has already written up since he formally joined in the past weekend, so he's already hit the ground running. And I'm looking forward to seeing him and the rest of the Sonic News team grow as the site evolves.

Speaking of evolutions, this segues nicely into the earlier Spring Cleaning metaphors that I used - metaphors that I am obviously still so very proud of using two whole paragraphs in.

To give you a brief update, work is still ongoing with our restoration project - the seemingly timeless goal of importing all of our old content from Wordpress (and beyond) into this new unified platform. So far, we're up to late 2003 - which really doesn't sound like much, I know, but you have to understand that there really was NOT a lot of archived material for the Sonic Stadium site between 2000-2005. Everything we've pulled together has been found scattered across the four winds - something of a miracle.

Most recently, you can check out a couple of reports from SAGE 7 (waaay back in September 2003), see how many people who used to read the site didn't initially believe reports that Sonic was going to feature in Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, and watch me in particular respond rather negatively to news that Sonic X was going to air in the UK some seven months after its US premiere. Ahh, memories.

Elsewhere, I'm plotting new features for the site... which I'd love to talk about with you but unfortunately things happen to be in a little bit of limbo as we await new technical updates to our community platform. You know how it goes.

Thanks for reading, as always, thanks for checking in, and I'll be back with more site updates for you very soon!

The Sonic Stadium may link to retailers and earn a small commission on purchases made from users who click those links. These links will only appear in articles related to the product, in an unobtrusive manner, and do not influence our editorial decisions in any way. All proceeds will go to supporting our community and continued coverage of Sonic the Hedgehog. Thank you in advance for your kind support!

Hello, everyone! It's great to finally unveil my position in the Sonic Stadium news team! Pretty crazy how fast time flies, huh?

Starting just from a casual fan 10 years ago trying to reignite my love for the series, the Sonic Stadium helped not only reinvigorated my love for Sonic, but my love for writing. It's my work roleplaying for this lovely community for nearly a decade that allowed me to pursue an education in storywriting, and then a little bit into copywriting.

It's something all came to ahead to where I am today, being able to write about Sonic in a more professional capacity, and share my love for collecting with you all! It's a true honor to be given the opportunity to be a part of this team, and I got a lot of people to thank.

I want to thank @Dreadknux, @GX -The Spindash-, @nuckles87and the rest of the Sonic News team for looking at my silly figure ramblings and finding it worthy material to have on your front pages. I promise I won't let you down!

And I want to acknowledge all of my fellow writers on the Skylanders Dimensions team for being just the most encouraging, creative community I can ask for. From my fellow staff members @Ryannumber1gamer, @Spin Attaxx, @Tori Himemiyaand @Emperor Robrainiac, to the many other writers in my community who have come and gone over the years!

@Morganoire, @Lady Marie, @Polkadi~☆, @Jovahexeon Jax Joranvexeon, @Winston, @Xmanb28, @SgtBloxx, @NegaMix, @CharDragoncaster, @CarmenTheNova, @GrammyGram, @The200IQTable, and so many more, it's you guys that made all this possible too. You're why I stuck around TSS and allowed me to hone my skills as a writer, and I'm grateful for your support!

Dread's got some really exciting plans for this site we can't wait to share, and I'll do my very best to ensure each and every one of you guys will stay up to date in the latest in Sonic games, movies, comics, TV... and merch!

Crawling out of my hole to say congratulations! You’ve always been good about sending updates on Sonic stuff and others stuff as well, and I think that you’re a great fit for the position! You’ve worked really hard all these years and I’m grateful to be a part of the community thanks to your kindness and encouragement, so I’m glad I could help repay that at least a little bit by supporting you. I know I’m a hermit on this site but I’m sure you’ll do great things along with the rest of your new team!

    @Failinhearts

Incredibly happy to see you move up the ranks to site writer, Failin. You've been a invaluable source of info for all things related to merch, and your previous topics are very well-detailed and fun reads. I'm sure you're going to do an excellent job, and you're going to really round out the news team so the site can cover a much wider array of news topics.

You've more than earned the job, and I have every belief in you that you're going to do a fantastic job, so congrats, and be proud of yourself.

Daaaang, you're part of the news staff now!

Really happy for you, my man! We've known each other for like, what, seven years? It's awesome seeing you in your new position, and you've been doing great with keeping us updated on sonic merch.

They've been fantastic reads, so I confidently say you've earned it, I'm really excited for you!

Gotta say Failin, I always knew you had it in you. From the first time we met, and I got to witness the mighty community you had already crafted yourself.

Now look at you, a full-fledged member on the staff force of the Sonic Stadium. Fueling us with scoops of fine knowledge. I have no doubts that you earned this position full-heartedly.

Here's to whatever comes next in the future, ideally all for the better!

Congrats on the new team member! I'm a big fan of Sonic merch so I really look forward to seeing what their work in the news section. And I'm really happy to see all the enthusiastic dedication and commitment to constantly keep breathing new life on a site that is over 20 years old! If this was someone's kid they would of kicked them out of the house by now 😅 Being a die hard Sonic fan myself, it excites me to see what all will come!

    Congrats.

Don't look in the admin area under "Searches used to find TSS"... there are some... . .. .. people who need a therapist.

Well, in my experience, if anyone close to you says 'don't look at this,' they probably have a very good reason for doing so.

    Last time I had access...

It was in the site statistics tab, just scroll until you see something along the lines of 'traffic sources', you can then see all the search terms people used to find TSS and... Oh Those two words really don't belong together!
