Sure is a rumory night, ain't it? Following on from January's massive drop of new sets, including Knuckles' iconic mech suit, we're already starting to hear rumors about LEGO's mid-2024 sets. While all rumors should be taken with skepticism, the LEGO rumor space tends to have a pretty solid track record with upcoming set names, numbers, and prices. So if this latest round is to be believed, the LEGO Sonic line will be getting at least three new additions this summer.
According to LEGO leak Instagram mtdbricks, we may be seeing these sets hitting in a few months:
There are no images, brick counts, or minifig details featured in the rumor, but surely most fans will immediately hone in on the third entry, and the clear suggestion that a Super Sonic minifig could be on the way. That said, I'm not sure Sonic would legitimately need the power of emeralds to defeat the Egg Drillster (Eggman's drill car from Emerald Hill in Sonic 2), but you can technically get all seven emeralds in that zone, and I don't dare second guess how proficiently LEGO engineers can play Mega Drive.
The Knuckles one is... odd, considering that his mech suit set already includes a Master Emerald, but having a spare is probably helpful with how often he seems to lose it. And while I hesitate to speculate too heavily on this summer's new Tails set, if I personally were to name a set "Tails' Adventure Boat" for a fox's sea voyage, I would ensure the boat in question would be a distinct blue-and-yellow drill-tipped boat prominently featured in the game Tails Adventure. But perhaps that's just me.
