  • 'Live and Learn' Will Feature in Sonic 3 Movie, Johnny Gioeli Tells Sonic Stadium

    Singer says Paramount Pictures has the rights to use the song in any form.

    Crush 40 singer Johnny Gioeli has confirmed to the Sonic Stadium that the theme song to Sonic Adventure 2, Live & Learn, will feature in some capacity in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie.

    Gioeli said that Paramount Pictures had "made a deal" for the "usage" of Live and Learn in the silver-screen sequel, but "to what extent of 'usage'... trailer, movie, marketing. I don't know. That's up to them."

    Rumours had circulated online as to whether or not the iconic theme, closely associated with Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic's 10th Anniversary, would make it into the movie after Paramount posted a teaser on Friday that featured a hint of the song in the background.

    Gioeli certainly had fun on his social media channels with the message, "Hmmm… that song sounds familiar doesn’t it?" In recent days the singer also spoke to other Sonic channels on social media to confirm what he has told the Sonic Stadium.

    "All I know is the movie is going to be mind blowing," the musician told the Sonic Stadium. "And I’m so grateful to be a part of the journey regardless of how much of the song they use- a remix- a whatever. The Sonic fans / Crush40 fans are a massive part of my life. I want this for THEM not for me."

    Beyond the teaser trailer inclusion, Paramount has not yet commented or confirmed the use of Live and Learn in the movie, and in what form. Be it the original song, a remix, or an orchestrated piece by movie composer Tom Holkenborg, it's inclusion is certain to be an exciting prospect for long-time fans, particularly those who have been campaigning for the theme to feature since the release of Sonic 2.

    The Sonic Generations one where it turns into Sonic 4 music, except the Paramount version of that.

    This sounds good. I bet its just a jingle on a phone though like Green Hill was in the last one.

    That being said, I look forward to hearing splash hill zone in sonic 4 lol

    If "Live And Learn" is in the Sonic movie 3, I will be freaking out excitedly.

    Here’s why I’m not too worried like some people are about the film shafting the song: The Mario Movie exists and made a billion dollars, and no doubt the director and Paramount themselves noticed that film’s use of game music. It’s foolhardy for them to shaft Live and Learn after again, a billion dollar movie showed everyone that game music does not equal bad.

    The Mario movie is not a good example to compare to. The movie did well, solely because of its name and fanbase. The general consensus critically is that the movie was a bit of a mess, with a critical response of about 60% on Rotten Tomatoes. The fan score isn't a good score to look at due to bias.

    The issues with that movie is it tries to just be a fan service thing, vs actually having a decent plot, story and so forth. The Mario movie just drops item after item, music after music, location after location for the sake of just grabbing the audience by the shoulders and shaking them, "Remember this? REMEMBER THIS?! REMEMBER THIS?!" This alienates anyone not really into the Mario mythos.

    Where Sonic 2 hits about 70% because it tries to downplay the game elements to small nods to the fans, with small musical gags, sight gags and all, and it tries to be an actual movie with believable characters with arcs and events that the audience can connect to. If you know nothing about Sonic, these movies give you reasons to get to know these characters and care about them.

    Correct. I’m only speaking music-wise here.  So many people sneer at the soundtrack of these films

    I am honestly very happy that they use the flagship song from Sonic Adventure 2, with that instrumental and such beautiful lyrics I know that I will be happy to hear it in the movie, and I will be more so if there are many references and it is faithful to the story, it is one of my favorites, I am still waiting and anxious for the film to be released.

    The first two films had disappointing soundtracks that didn't use the amazing music from a franchise known for having great music! Its so frustrating listening to mostly generic Hollywood soundtrack that isn't bad, but its not distinctively Sonic. Actual Sonic music would have elevated both movies in my opinion.

     

    Please play Live and Learn during the climax of the final battle with Super Sonic and Super Shadow (whether they are friends or foes, I'm okay with either). Its all I ask of this third movie.
