The Knuckles TV Series should be getting some kind of reveal...soon, but the leaks just keep coming. Unlike last week's storyboard leaks, what we have today are far less revealing, but give us some additional hints at what is to come.
Like a shabbat dinner. And Reno. These leaks come courtesy of Sonic1News and JaiAreBaboon on Twitter, who found the episode titles on Entertainment Identifier Registry. The information was uploaded just a week ago, on January 11. This hopefully means we're not too far away from some sort of trailer. It should be noted that Halo Season 2's entry was added on December 13, a week after its trailer and two months ahead of its release, though that may not mean anything.
The show's six episode titles are as follows:
Quote
The Warrior
Don't Ever Say I Wasn't There For You
The Shabbat Dinner
The Flames Of Disaster
Reno, Baby
What Happens In Reno Stays In Reno
Like I said earlier, they don't tell us much, but they do reveal a little bit! The first two episode titles tie most directly into the show's premise: Knuckles teaching Wade Wipple to be a warrior. The second title...might be a Bad Boys movie reference? That might be a stretch, but this franchise does not strike me as something that would be above doing that.
"The Shabbat Dinner" is pretty self-explanatory though: that episode is going to center around a shabbat dinner, something I should probably explain! I'm Jewish, but my family never observed Shabbat, so I'll just explain the gist of it. Shabbat, otherwise known as the Sabbath, is the weekly day of rest for Jews that runs from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. Amongst more strictly observant jews (particularly orthodox/conservative), there are very strict rules as to what you can and can't do, and among the things you can't do are work, drive, and cook. Shabbat dinners are cooked before sundown on Friday, signal the start of Shabbat, and are the first of three Shabbat meals. There are many rituals and prayers associated with the Shabbat dinner as well...but just go to Wikipedia or Google if you want to read up on that.
Of course, the bigger question here is, why is Knuckles attending a Shabbat dinner? Is Wade Wipple jewish? Is someone else? Obviously, we don't know, but given its in the episode title, we can expect it to be a major part of the plot here.
Next on the list, "The Flames of Disaster," seems like a pretty deliberate reference to Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 and the monster Iblis. That said I...wouldn't expect this to mean anything from that game is going to show up. Sure, it could mean Iblis and Silver are about to pop up. It could also mean Wade Wipple and Knuckles set the brisket on fire and ruined the dinner. It could do either way, really. This was one of the two episodes to have its storyboards leak, so the answer is probably already out there. But I refuse to look at them, so I wouldn't know.
Finally, we have two episodes titles about Reno, which means that regardless of whether Knuckles and Wade ruined Shabbat, they'll be spending the final two episodes in Nevada. We actually got a peak at what was in that episode from those leaked storyboards, if you're curious.
I expect we'll be getting a trailer for the Knuckles show any day now. It feels overdue at this point. Once it finally drops, we'll be sure to cover it! The Knuckes TV series will star Idris Elba as Knuckles, Adam Pally as Wade Wipple, and features Christopher Lloyd in a currently unknown role.
