You only get a strange user name if you tried to comment on the updates in the ps blog. It's an issue on their website not your ps3/psn.

I can't even sign in. It's still giving me the maintenance message, even when I hit the Forgot Password button.

EDIT: Ah wait this is America only? Never mind then.

So is there a heat-map of Europe. I want to know when it'll be online in the UK and such.

Nope, they're rolling it out across America AND Europe. Now that the whole of the U.S. has been sorted, I imagine more areas of Europe will be back online soon.

They haven't made one for Europe.

Why isn't your PSN back online in Europe yet? 'Be patient', says Sony

The news of PSN's return back online today has understandably caused a lot of excitement amongst European CVG readers, and yet one burning question remains: When is my PlayStation Network going to be back to normal?

<br clear="all">By the looks of things, any time now.

According to Sony Europe comms boss Nick Caplin: "The process has begun and some countries are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach [European gamers]. In the meantime, now's a great time to get your PS3′s firmware updated and change your password, both of which are required to get online."

Or in other words, Sony is making sure everything's tickety-boo in the US, and should be reaching your little black box o' magic later today.

Most European PS3 owners can already download Firmware 3.61, but cannot yet sign into PSN or connect to its online services.

Sony boss Kaz Hirai has said that online gaming functionality is being seen as a priority feature as the company begins rolling out its various services onto the network.

The PlayStation Ireland Facebook page reported earlier: "Hi guys, just to clarify some PSN services, including online gameplay, will indeed go live later today (Sunday)."

Alright, PSN is back... sorta. Just gotta wait for the store and I'm set. Then comes the ever-important question: What shall I download for my PSP? Once it's back up I'll have to decide.

Yes-yes-yes-yes-yes... I bought my PS3 in timing for the PSN hack, so it'll be fun to actually get to play some stuff the way I wanted to.

Interesting. Seems like the world is slowly going back to how it was. PSN coming back online, XBOX people still enjoying the online time. Then in a week or so when everything is back we'll have flame wars about this and harmony will be restored.

Life is returning back to how it is suppose to be.

Black Ops finally has a use.

Aparently on Black Ops, if you go online there is a virtual world map which shows players who are online. Aparently in the last 30 min Spain, France, Germany,

Denmark & Sweden have just come online.

Of course these might just be users playing with USA accounts, but it seems odd how the whole map just lit up with users playing. So we might be seeing PSN here in Europe any moment now.

I just tried logging in again. Still doesn't work here though.

I guess specific regions apply to individual countries as well. I live in the far south.

Sony's tweeted that they've put out EU guides for changing your password on PS3 and PSP:

The PSP one just gets the below message though.

eu.playstation.com is undergoing essential maintenance and is currently unavailable. In the meantime, you can visit the websites below.

Why is he smiling? He should be ashamed.

The only thing I could think while watching Hirai here was "He would fit perfectly into a MGS4 Codec screen."

1: For what exactly? He didn't ask for criminals to attack his business.

2: Great idea for a video to show your customers, sat behind a chair looking misreable.

Great... There's people on the EU PS Blog reporting that PSN has gone back down in the UK and my PS3 won't work. I turn it on and just get a black screen and nothing more. It was working fine earlier. I even went online for a couple of races on ASR. My wife was just watching a DVD on it and turned it off, and then I turned it back on to play on it and I just keep getting a black screen.

I know people are saying it's down, but I'm currently online playing portal 2. My friends list is also quite active.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood was amazing to play. Too bad I am going back to school today. Oh well, Hogfather, whenever I come back to the beautiful black box, will you be available for Portal 2 Co-op. I seriously need some people that I can trust not to try to kill me.

Also, is PS Store back online? I want to use up the rest of my Gift Card money and buy that swank ACB DLC.
