Mega Man Universe [CANCELLED]

As said before, ZXA felt a bit more like a Metroidvania than the first ZX, and handled the whole thing a LOT better. That said, they're more like typical Mega Man games with Metroidvaniac elements rather than 'pure' Metroidvanias.

Speaking of which, if they bring in Ashe, I will shit bricks, she's on par with Bass for the title of my favourite Mega Man character.

I know that debate has never changed someones opinion on a game, but I never felt lost in ZX, except when trying to get to Area G, and ZXA fixed it by either having all areas reached directly through the starting area, or they were cut off from the main world, and could only be accessed by transporters, eliminating the need to go hunting for stages.

Though I can see where someone could be bugged with about eight "Mega Men" running around.

Beat me to it. This actually makes me sad since I was interested in it. I also am curious exactly why it was cancelled. D:

If it's worth noting, this game was recieving an overwhelming amount of negative feedback during focus testing.

This kinda worries me though; it was recently confirmed that Mega Man Legends 3 isn't even greenlit yet. It was supposed to make an appearance at an expo I forget which one, but it got pulled, still not sure for what circumstances.

Now with this recent development, I think it's safe to say that dark times await Mega Man fans.

Don't need to worry about the Legends 3 demo not being playable, it was the event that was cancelled. The event also was going to have a playable Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D demo, and would take place on March 22nd. So why didn't this go through? The event was based in Japan and the Earthquake happened right before this event was going to happen, so it was cancelled.

The Japanese earthquake/tsunami, of course. The whole event was cancelled because of it.

Anyway... It's kinda a shame that this game was cancelled, but, ah, well.

Edit: Gah, Dusk ninjaed me.

Damn, and I had high hopes for this game, it sounded like LittleBigPlanet meets the Wily Wars on steroids. Also, since they canceled this I'd expect ML3 to be next considering the issues it's already had during development.

Couldn't give a shit about MegaMan, but I know how much fans were actually looking forward to this. I really wonder what exactly happened.

Well, we'll likely find out in a future statement or interview. All we know is that the game was teased long before it was ready to be shown, and the developers had to rush to just get the levels and characters for the TGS demo. So it could be scheduling problems, but it'll probably be a while until we find out.

The more I think about it, the more I think this might be an April Fool's Joke.

However, I will wait for a few days before I say anything.

Only mildly related, but...

CoJ doesn't think Mega Man is popular in the U.S.

"...a lot of Japanese developers, at least internal in Capcom sort of don’t believe Mega Man is popular in the U.S.," Killian said.

I was stunned since the Mega Man series, in my opinion, has a large and quite vocal following in North America. With a bit of disbelief, I replied with "Really?"

"Yeah, I had the same response! Like ‘Really? Really really?’ because he is really popular here," Killian responded. "People really like the character, X, and everything down the line."

...Killian re-iterated what he said in our interview earlier, "Frankly, if you can rally your friends [for Mega Man Legends 3] they are looking at that kind of thing. I gotta say this isn’t a cheap publicity stunt where like (says in a comical voice) you can get all of your friends over to come here and help us out then the game’s future is OK. (back in his regular voice) Those are a contributing factor, but it’s also dependent on the team’s own work and the project they can put together with the budget and timeline they’ve been assigned."

...Fuck. Guess the end of megaman is nigh huh?...

How can we still show CoJ that we still care?

This is a fucking joke. Either Capcom is dumber then I thought or need a new American relations team because Megaman is second to only Metroid in terms of side scrolling, platform shooters and that in itself is debatable.

This is the weirdest thing I've heard all year. What's their excuse?

It's gotta be an April Fools prank. That does not sound believable.

After hearing about MML3's situation, I honestly highly doubt that a company would joke about this kind of thing. Outright cancellation of a game with mixed reception that hasn't had much coverage in a while isn't all that shocking at this point.

I think the problem is that Seth is too much of an enthusiast and the Japanese developers don't believe him anymore because he keeps discouraging them from trying to ape western styles and encouraging them to revive old franchises.

And did anyone actually know what this game was going to be? I only know of one screen shot that made it look like "Powered Up Console with a crappy art direction".

They got to be kidding. And this is one of the few games recently that I actually gave a crap about!

I await to see if this is confirmed true after April Fools. If it is false, then good. If still true, then FSJKLDFJSKLFJSLDF
