Sir Tynen
Nintendo also shuts down friend gallery in Flipnote 3D. Yeeeaaaah nooo. Sorry Ninty, but you're not good at this parenting and trying to keep the kiddies safe thing. I seriously hope they are integrating Miiverse on the 3DS, cause otherwise, this is just straight up dumb.
Salamander
Nintendo has stated that Miiverse is coming to 3DS. This year, even... although given that they haven't mentioned it for a while, and it's November by now, I wouldn't be surprised if the schedule slipped. Although the GBA ambassador games were in a similar position, but they slipped out just in time, so you never know.
AzureHedgehog
Hey there. How about banning the dumb kids who misuse the software rather than EVERYBODY EVEN WHEN NOT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO USED IT WERE BAD? Honestly this is a stupid decision, but it doesn't affect me since I got rid of Nintendo Letter Box (It's called Letter Box in Australia how unoriginal) becuase it would take up too much space on my 3DS and had no other space for Eshop products. So I'm really not bothered about it going . Edited November 4, 2013 by AzureHedgehog

KrazyBean
IronFall Tech Demo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwUOoXX5fDY For 3DS standards, this is very impressive. It's all running at 60fps as well. Edited November 4, 2013 by KrazyBean
Blue Blood
So then, SwapNote... We knew that there were some lewd acts involved with Swapnote, but Nintendo wasn't letting on what exactly caused them to shut down the service. Now we have details from Japanese publications. - two men have been arrested - they were alledgedly performing "improper acts" in hotel rooms with a 12 year-old girl - this happened multiple times - the men are aged 49 and 36 - this was facilitated through the 3DS - child pornography charges have also been filed against another man, 44 - he allegedly had an 11 and 12 year old girls send him nude pictures through Swapnote - other men have been charged with statutory rape and indecency through compulsion It's kind of a case of burning down the house to kill the spider, but you can understand why Nintendo's done it. If this news broke before SwapNote was turned off, Nintendo would be deemed irresponsible and it would be horrible PR for them. Furthermore, you've got the fact that the children involved had re-enabled the internet capabilities after their parents had disabled them, so something needs fixing there. I'm expecting SwapNote to make a comeback in the future, perhaps less the ability to share photos and increased parental control.

MegasonicZX
Okay, now I can understand why they shut it off. I guess if they had let this continue there probably would've been some court issues to take care of and more than not they probably would've been sued by the parents. Before or after the shutdown, I doubt they're just getting a slap on the wrist PR-wise from this.
LimeTH
Yeah. I see why they got rid of the service now. I thought it was just idiots sending dick pics, not a child porn case.
Solkia
Remember the news about terrorists using Myspace to talk to each other? Remember when they took down the entire site because of it? You don't? That's because they didn't. All Nintendo had to do was step up security like they anally enforce on every other goddamn thing they make. They didn't have to shut down.
Autosaver
Child Porn? I had a feeling this was a part of it. Ugh. :| This is why we can't have nice things.
Jet Prower
Well, since it involved child pornography, you can ind of understand why they did it now. That's usually one of the worst PR things you can get with anything electronically connected to the internet. I now it may be a bit much, but who knows if they will bring up something else later that may have more security than whatever this service had to try and protect from it ever happening again or at least lower the chances of it ever happening again. Jolt_TH
The only way I can see them bringing it back is if they implement something whereby you can only get direct messages from friends, that you MUST have a code for, and only send a generic message to everyone else on street pass that you make yourself (so one universal street pass message that everyone sees) Although even then Nintendo would probably still worry about people sharing their codes over street pass, maybe a friend code recognising program that doesn't let them send it if they recognise a code? Conando
Well, they used SpotPass to meet up with these girls and then molest/rape them. So that would have only handled one of the problems. Nintendo probably figured they should just out right get rid of it due to them already having Miiverse planned, for which they already have much better moderation in place. All Nintendo had to do was step up security like they anally enforce on every other goddamn thing they make. They didn't have to shut down. This right here. Nintendo seems to not understand the current generation of gaming/messaging. Even though I still yearn for a proper messaging system on the 3DS and Wii U ala Ps360 messaging, I liked Swapnote. Plus, don't you have to have the recipients FC to send them messages, let alone pictures and such? I don't know... I just feel shit like that would be easier to monitor with a proper username system (like the ps360, instead of FC) and a report button or something. I can understand the PR thing and such, but doesn't Nintendo even have a warning about being careful who you share information with, let alone exchange FC's with. Marcello
We had one with more of a focus on the Wii U last month and I'm sure we'll get another soon (At the latest January). That said they do like to overlap, so c'mon surprise Zelda U announcement!
