What if... What if they travel in time and save Maria???

Nah. That would be the equivalent of Batman going back in time to save his parents. Plus the entire point of Shadows game was coming to terms with his past and moving on from it.

I kinda hope they don’t. Borrowing the terminology from last year’s Spiderverse movie, losing Maria was like Shadow’s canon event. Losing Maria changed Shadow forever, and bringing her back would nullify all his growth since then.

Somehow it makes a worse future and Shadow has to go back again and shoot Maria himself to restore the timline.

I wouldn't mind if they saved Maria in the past, it wouldn't change the series that much anyway since she would still die soon due to illness, it would only make her death a little bit "softer" and give her and Shadow a final happy moment before everything goes back to normal.

Shadow would still keep memories of his "old" past so his backstory would still work.

So MCU time travel rules pretty much?
